“Phenomenal High Class Hotel”
Great view, right next to downtown. Bars within walking distance. Beautiful room and hotel overall.
“Would most definitely go back”
The staff were extremely professional but approachable and the room and location were great. Would stay at another W based on my experience at this one.
“W Austin is friendly, fun and fantastic”
I stayed at the W Austin for 3 Nights. I chose the hotel for location (I was attending a trade show at the Convention Center) and quality of design and service. I try to avoid the typical hotels as much as possible. It did not disappoint. Immediately on check-in, I was welcomed by friendly staff and a very modern, well designed lobby. The room, likewise was a pinnacle of modern design and featured top quality furnishings, and amenities. It was larger than I expected (normally these design type hotels have quite small rooms for the base rate prices). Flat screen TV, large bed, desk, comfy chairs, large glass shower, separate toilet, etc. During my stay the staff was extremely helpful. The provided excellent restaurant and shopping advice, and even made reservations for me at a place that doesn't take reservations - Uchi, one of Austin's top restaurants. In addition, they offer an Acura car service. They will arrange a car (SUV actually) to take you to pretty much anywhere. I had them drop me off at South Congress one day for shopping. It's 100% free! At night the hotel lounges are transformed into a very popular bar. All 3 nights I was there, it was quite full (but not too much so), with live DJs playing, and very energetic crowd of 20-30ish, well dressed and friendly people. If you are looking for a quite place, this might not be it, but I was happy I could have a few drinks without having to leave the hotel. All in all, I enjoyed my stay and would certainly return.
“Very surprised at how fun this hotel was”
Absolutely loved everything except water pressure (shower), and amount of time taken to be served at lunch. Also, front desk not very friendly. I felt more that they were "new" and didn't quite get the "service" part of their job. Shuttle service terrific....
“lacking in the details, starting to show wear”
I was overall satisfied with my stay however the hotel is starting to miss alot of the details I expect from the w brand. Lobby is overall nice but really starting to show its wear, carpets are stained and furniture starting to look worn. I went for a big event at acl and upon arrival (we were early for check-in) at 2:00pm we were told we would get a text from the front desk and we could go to the pool area to wait and have cocktails. we went up only to have to wait 15 mins for a bartender, there was construction on the main pool area so we were sent to the residence pool stuffed in a corner, the bartender never showed up, so we finally had a drink in the front lobby. when we were texted our cool corner suite was ready and room was very nice (although stains on sofa were dissapointing) we eventually found out the pool was closed and only open on the weekend. the next morning we watched a construction guy smoking in a private cabanna and finally complained to the hotel manager. room service for breakfast took over an hour and we were told they had no orange juice. eventually we recieved breakfast, and then after speaking with the manager recieved 2 glasses of juice. later that evening we were sent a bottle of champagne with a card, that was very thoughtful and much appreciated (however we dont drink champagne). we noticed after houskeeping came they did not replace the toilet paper, so I grabbed the spare in a cloth bag only to notice several mystery stains on the outside, ick
“Spring break In Austin”
Great Hotel but loud (all night) and crowded with a spring break type clientele. Perfect for someone looking for Vegas in Austin....
“W stay”
I got food posioning from a shrimp cocktail. The last day of my vacation I was in the room throwing up all day and night. Not sure if ill ever stay there again.
“NOT IMPRESSED”
Very "stuffy" hotel and not worth the money! Dim lighting everywhere and snobby front desk people. Rooms were very small. Water preasure in the shower was not good. If this is the "IT" hotel I guess I will just stay with the norm!
“Worst W Hotel I have visited (and I have stayed at many)”
I have always been a fan of the W brand hotels. However, the W Austin sets the bar disappointingly low. The design and layout of the hotel are very appealing. However, the customer service and maintenance staff were very disappointing. When I returned to my room at the end of the day, I discovered that someone had taken the time to replace a bottle of water that I had consumed, but my room had not been cleaned. The towels were not replaced, the bed was not made, the trash wasn't emptied, and the toiletries were not replenished. Nothing. The room was comfortable and had a pleasant view of the river. However, it was not extremely clean (very dusty). Unlike any other hotel I've stayed in, there are no coffee makers in the room. So if you'd like a cup outside of the limited hours that they offer them in the lobby, then you are completely out of luck. Of course you could always order a giant French press through room service. Perhaps the worse thing that happened during my stay is that a shopping bag with items in it was thrown away by the maid. Instead of offering to assist me in recovering the bag (or compensating me in some manner) the hotel staff gave me a lecture on how I should not leave any items in the room unless I want them to be discarded. I will continue to patronize other W hotels. But I will never return to the W Austin. The customer service of the staff was extremely disappointing.
“Terrible experience”
Booked for a romantic night. Got two double beds instead. Hotel is cheesy and pretentious. Chain requires staff to use words like "lift" instead of elevator and "fully committed" instead of full. No coffee maker in room. Ordered room service and it took more than an hour. Don't waste your time on this one.
