"Mostly very clean, except sliding glass doors. Would have cleaned myself but no cleaning materials on site. Wanted to love this place. We have stayed in other units but were delighted to find a first floor unit. The good: well equipped, comfortable, plenty of towels, and beach stuff. Nice patio area. The bad: communication was awful. Don't know if the problem is with the owner or RedAwning. ![We discovered this serene little beach last month. After turning off the highway there is a 2 mile drive over rocky unpaved terrain, but if you take it slow any kind of car should be able to traverse it. Our compact rental car did great. There is a parking area, and then a trail through the lava fields to the beach (less than a ten minute walk).  There’s plenty of tree cover providing natural shade if you don’t feel like taking an umbrella. We saw dozens of turtles bobbing around in the water and the rocky bay provides great snorkeling opportunities. In our 4 days on the big island this was by far my favorite beach #lifeatexpedia

"The accommodations were perfect. This is a gated community, and some other residents are less than tolerant, and at 50 we aren’t a party crowd. Being in the hot tub before 6 am got us a talking to. The renter was great to deal with. Not being super familiar with appropriate rates, as this was our first vrbo stay, the cost seemed fair. Location was accessible to everything we needed, was safe, and quiet. Two retired cops here, so have a bit of expertise on that. All in all, it was a great trip. "

"Anything but luxurious!Kitchen sinks were horrible. They definitely need replaced. Stoppers for kitchen sink were broken and one missing. Blinds upstairs didn’t work. No privacy. A couple of the pieces on the vertical blinds were broken and laying on the floor. Several of the blinds had signs on them that said do not operate!! Bedspread in master bedroom had numerous holes in it. Very threadbare. The lanai was filthy and in need of paint. Contacted owner/host. He wanted pictures of everything. I sent pictures. Thanked me and never heard another word about any of it. His main concern was that we turned off the a/c when we weren’t home!!We were asked to wash and dry all the towels before we checked out. Are you kidding me??? Seems like we paid a substantial cleaning fee!!!I’ve stayed at numerous places on the Big Island over the past 35 years and this one was unbelievable. Never again!!"
