Slept well. Bed comfy and area around resort peaceful and quiet. Air conditioning in room is great but nothing in bathroom. Shower is so hard to figure out and it’s low flow. I kinda felt like I was at campsite where you can’t get a steady temperature and wash under a slow stream. The jacuzzi’s jets are broken. It just swirls hot water but no actual jets with force. The heat/ humidity/ bugs got to me. Meals including a private pay romantic dinner are outside. You just sweat and itch constantly. I didn’t care that beach is across from street but I did care about the loud music from the bar next door and party boats going in and out all day, You also spend all day saying “no thank you” to hustlers. If you are laying, eyes closed, they will keep saying “hey, hey you” until you sit and say “ no thank you”. You can’t walk along beach peacefully. There are miles of make shift “shops” in tarps at water’s edge. You may as well be walking along the state fair midway with people yelling for your attention. The rest of beach is other resorts with their DJs. Taxi Drivers, excursion people, guides….everyone is trying to shake you down for money…they are relentless “you gonna take care of me?” Anyone that was friendly, ended up asking for money or selling something. The resort was clean and staff pleasant, food good but I’d never go to a resort without a private beach again. There is only a private SECTION. The air smells like weed everywhere and pushers everywhere. I would not return.

The hotel is very nice. Grounds are well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though you have to cross the street to get to the beach, there’s a crossing guard on duty and once you get to beach is totally worth it. Beautiful clean beach with plenty of palapas. Will recommend and most likely stay at Sunset on the Palms again.

This was our 11th time there and We would not think about staying anywhere else.Mr. Bloomfield and his staff are amazing and always make you feel welcome. We call it our second home. Wonderful place.

Another great stay here . staff very pleasant and helpful , grounds well maintained . only real complaint was food . not much variety what so ever . Also no fruit for drinks , limes ect. Also pool was severly cloudy all week .

The property is an amazing boutique hotel on lush grounds. The beach is one of the best on the stretch of beach and one of the best I have been too. You have your own private. The only downside was the mosquito's while they did not take away from the vacation they were a little nuisance. So bring bug spray. They say there are less in the fall and winter months. The room was awesome but with all hotels some minor refreshes would be nice. The onsite food was amazing. Staff was amazing and would definitely recommend the Sunset at the Palms and I plan on returning.

The meals and beach were the best parts. The property itself needs some upkeep. We came here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary-which they were aware of after asking numerous times. It would’ve been nice to at least be greeted with some champagne after a long trip like we have in the past. However we still had a great time and would recommend to anyone who’s on a budget and just needs the basics to relax and unwind.

We enjoyed this quiet and smaller resort. My husband loved the food, but I would have preferred more options. I struggled with the mosquitoes. There were hundreds floating in the pool at all times, regardless of how much they cleaned it. I wish there was another air conditioned restaurant option, especially for the buffet. It really is a wonderful place; I'm overly picky.

Air conditioning did not work first night. Bell hop was late to bring luggage to shuttle. Food was good, accommodated to allergies. Shower had low pressure. Everyone had smiles and coffee bar was great. Hot chocolate was yummy. Beautiful lush environment.

I am covered in bed bug bites…thought it was mosquitoes but nope…it’s bed bugs. Really unfortunate because staff was super sweet and the beach portion is beautiful. Food was alright, best parts were the Jamaican cuisine and fresh fruit and coffee.

Dear Sandra,We are sorry to hear this but must say emphatically, that we do not have bed bugs. It is with regret that you did not bring this concern to our attention prior to your departure. Our records indicate no complaints from the last 10 guests who occupied the room you were in. We have had guests occupying the room on the same day as your departure and feedback from them did not raise any issue of being bitten either in the room or anywhere else. Be that as it may, we brought in an independent pest control company who thoroughly checked the room and found no evidence of bed bugs. Given that this is a tropical country and Sunset Resort is part of an untouched jungle like landscape, people from time to time will complain of sandflies which are not so visible to the human eye and mosquitoes. These bites are often mistaken for bed bugs. We temper the presence of sandflies and mosquitoes by fumigating every evening and, we pay strict adherence to our mosquito management program by ensuring all protocols are followed. Rest assured that we do not have bedbugs at this resort. Thank you for staying with us.

Very nice, however the rooms are much like staying in an uninsulated cabin. You can hear when someone walks and talks outside, and they can hear you talking from inside your room. Sleeping is difficult due to this-birds and frog sounds all night heard very loudly inside, too. No black out curtains, so as soon as the sun comes up, the room lights up, and it’s only 5am- Not great on vacation. The bathroom offers no privacy-the door is basically a porch door, with pencil eraser sized holes-you can see the person sitting on the toilet clearly while on the other side of the door and they can see you, too. So if privacy is what you want while you poop, this is not the place to stay. Otherwise, beautiful place and we had a great time.

Not too big, beautiful surroundings in a peaceful and private setting. Staff were generally kind and courteous. Breakfast buffet was a bit repetitive, and table service a little slow. Some noise pollution from nearby road, and they ran out of beach towels early in the morning so had to wait for laundry but all in all, an amazing time. We’d go back again.

What I liked; this property has me rethinking how I’m going to do vacations in the future. Whoever designed this property was genius. It is small, quiet and beautiful. They didn’t blast music on the beach and there were no loud bands during dinner. The beach was beautiful and there were plenty of chairs. (Downside: people walked back and forth all day loudly hawking something). Ok. What I didn’t like-and will keep me from coming back: Service was almost non existent. Twice I had to go down and ask for someone to bring towels to my room (it hadn’t been cleaned). Twice we were half way thru dinner before getting water (remember, it’s small. There were only about three other tables). Same at the beach; takes about ten minutes for someone to take drink order and another ten to get it. People seldom made eye contact. I felt as if I were bothering them by asking. The poor service was remarkably consistent. The other thing was that for the first two days the room smelled like urine and sewage. I only spoke with one other couple that had this problem though. No one else did. As far as transportation, that went well, but I heard other people using different services that were less expensive and their drivers were like tour guides and stopped and took pictures. I honestly felt like an unwelcomed guest that was underfoot the whole time we were there.

Great place to relax. Cool vibe. Some of the staff could have been happier. One girl on the beach duty possibly needs another job. I think she doesn’t like her job and it shows. Was very short with us and rude.

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at Sunset at the Palms. We loved being among the flora and fauna in our bungalow with a picturesque beach only steps away. Our spa experience was wonderful thanks to Brenda and Jolina. There were lots of activities at the resort such as karaoke, piano bar and steel drum performances. Every aspect of our stay went smoothly and we always had a sense of comfort and relaxation. Shoutout to Kapreme, Sinclair, Omar, Shimera, Jason and Fitzroy and many others for the incredible service and hospitality. One love!!

Very relaxed and quiet. Amazing lanscaping and gorgeous tropical garden feel. Private "treehouse" huts were very comfortable. Food selection was fantastic at every meal. My wife and I had been to Ocho Rios the year before and had an amazing time. This year we wanted to stay in Negril at the Sunset Resort. We flew out of Syracuse NY to Montego Bay. When we arrived customs immediately detained my wife and I in a small room. My wife was frightened! There were 3 other families being detained as well. Customs said our passports were not efficient enough to enter their country due “ripped” pages or any reason they could find to send back visitors. We were all deported back to Chicago! When I called Sunset Resort to let them know what happened and asked for a refund they refused and kept our money. There’s nothing we could do nor Expedia. We lost over $6k and the hassle was extreme. We will never go back to Jamaica nor stay at another Sunset Resort. We will never use Expedia again either. Very very poor service and they are robbing Americans.

Old… Bed bugs (I was covered in bites), Lizards inside the apartment (we had 3 of them), lunch very limited and same every day . Some of the staff were excellent like Jason and Cornelius but mainly rude and distant, just don’t care vibe . Beach bar was the worst with service . The only thing worth it and the best one is the BEACH and water that is so beautiful. But, would I come again ? Not a chance .

First off , We were assigned a room that was not ready so we had to wait for another room. When we got to the room we requested more hangers. It took 2 hours to get them, same with the request for water. Customer service is seriously lacking at this hotel. They made us feel that any request was an inconvenience! They were out of canned beer on two separate occasions & olives for dirty martinis The food was mediocre at best. Very disappointed!! We really enjoy Jamaica but our experience at The “Sunset at Palms” was not good. Last year our stay at another resort was truly phenomenal….but this resort is very rundown & lacks good hospitality & good customer service. Need to renovate & retrain in order for this guest to return

A unique property - with rooms in charming huts on stilts. Very green, relaxing. A superb beach, white sands, spectacular trees making for a great shade. Very friendly staff, excellent music. The only issue mosquitoes - unlike our first visit in 2022 - for some of us mosquitoes were unbearable (so get ready).

My wife and I had a wonderful week at Sunset at the Palms. The staff were incredibly attentive and anticipated our every need. The food was a perfect mix of traditional Jamaican dishes and favorites from around the world. The excursions offered some great chances to get off the resort for an adventure day. The YS Falls/Black River Tour, Snorkeling, and Catamaran to Rick's were all well worth the price. The property itself is a beautiful garden setting with a variety of flora and fauna to enjoy. It was a truly incredible tropical vacation, and we hope to go back someday.

We stayed here (March 2024) for 6 days then 4 days at Sandals Mobay. This place is far superior: accomodations are secluded in beautiful jungle setting - you are not surrounded by concrete buildings; the food is as good or better; just 200 guests vs 1000, no scrambling for shade spot on beach; overall more cozy and intimate with great staff. Will deinitely be back.

Had an amazing time at the sunset. Starting from the cottage we received, it had a HAMMOCK! We were so excited about it and utilized it to our best abilities. Learnt from some other visitors that they didn't have this in their cottage. The entire staff were so friendly and cheerful. We had a private access to the beach and the food/drinks included was amazing. The only issue we had was regarding shortage of light within the room. There are bed lamps but not bright enough. We will be back FOR SURE! Thanks again, guys!

This is such a great resort. The staff really makes it such an exceptional experience. The food is amazing and the beach is simply breathtaking! Highly recommend the couples massage.

The grounds and the staff at Sunset at the Palms are second to none. Beach is pristine and so well maintained. All the staff are so attentive, professional and just really enjoyable to be around. We enjoyed every minute and look forward to going back!
