"Fantastic hotel. Was debating between the Excelsior and the Villa Dubrovnik and so delighted with our choice. Beautiful property just outside the walls of the old town. Great swimming in the sea from the property."

"Staff throughout the hotel were excellent. The availability of halal food was phenomenal, including at breakfast and across the hotel restaurants. Having this level of diversity and inclusion in this day and age makes the hotel feel incredibly welcoming and accommodating to guests from different backgrounds. Food quality was excellent. Teppanyaki was particularly good and the chef was lovely. Concierge was outstanding. Special mention to Antonia and Ivana – extremely responsive, organised and helpful, with excellent English. Rooms could benefit from modernisation. Some sockets were loose/not working, while the iron, ironing board and hairdryer felt dated. For a five-star hotel in 2026, upgraded appliances, better TVs with streaming/casting and more modern technology would be welcome. The open shower/bathroom design offers very little privacy and is impractical when people are sharing a room. Better ventilation and towel rails would also help. Bulgari toiletries were heavily fragranced and very drying. A fragrance-free/sensitive-skin alternative would be a welcome addition. Housekeeping could be quicker. We occasionally waited around 45 minutes for simple requests such as water. Water should also be replenished according to the number of guests staying in the room. The spa was nice, although although the massage prices felt high relative to the facilities. A proper relaxation room and improved Jacuzzi/hydrotherapy facilities would elevate the experience."

"The staff were very courteous, breakfast was great, the room view was beautiful. The only downside was our room was at the Diana lodge on the second floor we had to climb 90 steps to the room each time we got out with no lifts. The reception did provide porters to carry our baggage though. The Hotel setting was beautiful. Keith"

"I will always remember the Sun Gardens hotel for its breath-taking views, their cheerful, helpful, and friendly staff, and for the legendary, world-class breakfast! I will also remember Sun Gardens for the endless stairs at the residence part of the hotel. It was quite a workout going up and down those stairs for five days. Next time we will probably stay in the actual hotel, where there are elevators!"
