For this reason, Sailor’s Rest has become a favorite destination for honeymooners and couples celebrating special occasions. Sailor’s Rest is a spacious fully renovated and well-appointed bungalow nestled in the hillside overlooking Salt River Bay and boasts one of the best views on island. This is the perfect spot for anyone who prizes comfort and privacy in a luxurious escape. An enormous 500 sf covered porch provides you with the sun and rain protection you need to enjoy spending quality time outside in the Caribbean breeze. Relax in the lounge chairs, porch swing and club chairs, or dine al fresco. From the comfort of the private porch you can see the dark blue line at the 1300ft drop to the Caribbean’s largest living reef and watch the dive boats visit one of the most popular dive sites on island: Salt River Canyon. With pelicans and frickets flying overhead and turtles occasionally surfacing in the bay below, you are in the perfect place to kick back and take in the scenery. On a super clear day you can see Puerto Rico to the West, St. Thomas, St. John, Virgin Gorda, and Tortola to the North, and, if you’re really lucky, St. Martin to the East! At night watch the colors change as the sun sets, the lights blink to life across the bay and all the way over in St. Thomas, the cruise ships glide across the water, and, if the moon isn’t too bright, the kayakers touring the Bioluminescent Bay below. Inside comfort is king; from a large sectional couch in the living room to a Tempur-Pedic mattress in the bedroom. The apartment stays cool from the hillside and trade winds, but there is also AC in both the bedroom and living room in addition to three fans to keep you comfortable. Every window in the house boasts an ocean view. The large kitchen has a “pay it forward” bar, ice maker, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster, chef knives, chopping block, Calphalon cookware, and a full size dishwasher. The living room has a blue tooth music player and a 32” flat screen TV with Amazon fire TV. High quality towels and linens are provided as well as basic necessities in both the bath and kitchen. Beach towels, chairs, coolers, and snorkel gear are also provided. At the end of the patio a short flight of stairs leads you to two additional levels of decking surrounding a brand new glass mosaic pool. The shimmering iridescent pool is complete with a swim up bar and built in gas grill. Along the back of the pool is a large covered area providing shade for some club and lounge chairs. The smaller awning over the pool bar ensures that there is always some shade to be found within the pool itself. The pool area is the only space that is shared with the main house, but you can expect to have it to yourself most of the time. Sailor’s Rest is centrally located in St. Croix, so you can get anywhere in 30 minutes and it’s only 4 miles to the shops and restaurants of downtown Christiansted. One of the best parts of this North-central location is that there are two grocery stores and a market within 5-10 minutes! This is a huge advantage over the East End. Moreover, located within the gated community of Judith’s Fancy, you are in one of the safest places on island. This family-oriented community is also a walking/running destination, boasting over 9 miles of private well-maintained roads. Judith’s Fancy also has the best surf break on island. From the apartment you can walk to the beach in 5-10 minutes. Cleaning service is provided at the end of every week for visits lasting two weeks or more. This includes new linens and towels. Guests staying more than a week are also welcome to use the laundry facilities for their personal items. Sorry, no pets allowed. There are a couple of sweet cats and a super loving Golden Retriever who live in the main house on the property. Please no smoking and no children. If there wasn’t so much to see on the island, you could easily spend your entire time on the terrace, at the pool and taking great walks in the gated neighborhood. So fantastic the owner would share this view of paradise with others. If you are wondering if you can hear the owners upstairs, you cannot. All you can hear is the ocean! Alexandria is the perfect host, providing all the info we needed to make our stay great. She even offered to meet us at the airport, though with google maps, finding this home was so easy. The view was fantastic, the accommodations so comfortable and the location was ideal. Oh and the pool was delightful and partially shaded which I so appreciate. Our deck was also shaded but we could venture to the upper level if we preferred sunshine. Just 10 minutes to Christiansted, 15 minutes to Cane bay. Perfect! Some special reasons: the view, the pool, the gated entry, the easy to navigate roads, wonderfully appointed one or two bedroom bungalow (yes, had that Carribean Hollywood touch), the daily visit of furry friends (dog and cats) the super-nice and knowledgeable caretakers upstairs ( we want to meet Alex next time!) the array of sitting areas and close proximity to both sides of the island, and especially Christiansted without being right there. The nearby BBQ and fish places, Salt River area and Cane bay are also close by. We really stayed at the place much of the time because it was one of the better places we have stayed and we travel often. We are considering spending our 40th wedding anniversary at Sailor's Rest as she enjoyed her birthday on top of the world very much. Thank you, Alex and friends. ##### John P. Everything was just as described from the listing, but even better than we imagined. The property is located in a tranquil setting - beautiful views, peace and quiet. We were amazed at how relaxed we felt the entire time, able to sleep in without any noise waking us. The bed was so comfortable and we loved sitting on the patio- so many seating options. The grounds were beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool! Our last day we were swimming when a small shower passed over leaving a double rainbow which was incredible. The location is perfect - it seemed centrally located to most things we did each day. We were pleasantly surprised to find not only a well stocked pay it forward bar and kitchen, but also numerous chairs, coolers, ice, water gear/equipment for our use. Alex and Jay were friendly and available as needed, yet we felt we had the entire pool deck to ourselves. We also loved visits from the lovely golden retriever Penny who has the best manners and spreads joy! The accommodations were comfortable and clean, and you absolutely could not beat the view. We were delighted to find that the property sits right on a bioluminescent cove where we could see kayakers cruise through after dark.
