"Came in the off season, and it was a complete bait and switch. Actual hotel was closed (including pool and restaurant (so no breakfast)). Placed us next door in tiny apartments. Manager gave us the key and left the property. First room had a broken toilet seat so moved us to another one. Staff spoke no English and didn’t understand that we need password for WiFi. Blanket on bed was wet. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but left the next morning."

"We loved our stay at this beautiful house. The location is excellent, making it very easy to drive to either side of Crete. Our host was fantastic and very friendly, helpful, and highly responsive. She also gave us great recommendations for places to visit around the island. The house itself is lovely and equipped with basic supplies for cooking in the evening, which was mostly suitable for our needs. We would definitely stay here again!"

"Stunning property in a newly restored old house. Beautiful, spacious and well-appointed room. The common areas were comfortable and there was a lovely balcony. The breakfast which was beautifully served on the balcony was beyond compare. Local, fresh, and delicious Cretan treats. Archanes is close to Heraklion and the palace of Knossos and had plenty of dining options. We were in Greece for three weeks and our night at Carpe Diem was probably our best stay. Can’t recommend highly enough. "

The vibe is relaxed and it feels like there is a good amount of space so nowhere feels too crowded. We were there just as a couple but there were lots of families and children there but not to the point where it was disruptive if you’re just trying to have a relaxing time. "We really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Spent lots of time in the pool and outside area, where there is a table we played games at. We didn’t cook, but you could have a nice meal outside. Loungers next to pool were great for reading, relaxing, and you can move chairs to get more or less sun. Very private, even in back by pool. Air conditioning worked well. Need a car to get anywhere, but it’s not far to get to town/beach. I would return here for sure!"

"Amazing place if you want traditional housing and don't mind mountainous roads and you plan to travel into town from the village for eating out. The one taverna that serves food only opens at 2000 and isn't open every day. When they are open though they have Amazing food and the waitress was amazing as well. There's places to get groceries if you want to cook for yourself."

"Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Greece. We were here with two college aged children. We did the wine tour, which was fabulous! The breakfast is to die for! The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an epic experience. Only two things to be aware of... 1. There were a number of slow moving, hard shelled small bugs. We realized it was just part of being in the middle of a vineyard and my husband and son made a game of how many they scooped up and released outside each evening. 2. One of the twin beds squeaks a lot. Thankfully my daughter was a good sport about it. And it didn't detract from the 99% of the stay that was amazing! Hope you create beautiful family memories there like we did!"
