ibis Styles London Kensington

"Comfy Hotel close to Earls Ciurt Tube Station"
Clean, modest, well staffed family hotel. However has a single small lift which is not adequate for busy times. We were happy to check in again after touring UK and Europe but had to change hotels because Ibis wiuld not provide excess baggage storage for us until our return. Only one bottle opener at the desk...none in the rooms. Comfy with absolutely no frills. BUT good standard of continental Breakfast.

"Good value, not grim"
Cheap London hotels can be pretty abject but this was fine. Room was basic but fresh and not shabby or decrepit. A few minutes walk from a tube station. Didn't try the breakfast. Would recommend.

London Town Hotel - London Hotels

London Town Hotel

15 Penywern Road, London - Map
"Great Location, friendly staff"
I start with location because that is why I chose this hotel. The hotel is one block from the Earl's Court Tube Station. On the Piccadilly Line means you can come directly from Heathrow on one train and the elevator/lift from train level means suitcases are not a problem. The District and Circle lines also have stops at Earl's Court so between these 3 lines you can get to almost anywhere in London. I suggest getting an Oyster card if you will be using the Tube alot. I think you can use it for the buses as well although I didn't. There are several hotels in this area, what drew me to the London Town were the reviews by other guests. The staff was just as friendly and welcoming as other reviews have said. When we arrived in the morning our room was not available yet, which was as I expected, (checkin is at 2pm) but they kept our luggage and directed us to a lovely lounge where we had tea and water available and a bathroom on the lower level where we were able to refresh a bit. The rooms were very clean and crisp, shower and internet(free) worked well, not lots of toiletries but hey, I'm willing to bring my own to save easily $75.00 a nite. There was a Food Mart on the corner. Only downside, no AC, which is the case with most hotels in this category. The weather was warm for May. Room temp was fine with the window open but as we were on the front was a bit noisy at night, although just with traffic noise, not with rowdies. All in all, very happy with my choice!

Lord Jim Hotel

23-25 Penywern Road, London - Map
"Convenient to Tube, Food, Safe & Quiet"
I read the reviews about Lord Jim - they are true. The rooms are very small, but for two of us for two nights, I appreciated the convenience, cleanliness, safe neighborhood. I wish the room had a fan our first night as it was VERY hot and unfortunately the curtains were left open before we checked in, so it was very uncomfortable that night. A fan would have helped a lot. Fortunately the breeze picked up and we had a more comfortable night. I know the heat was unusual & we were glad that it was quiet and safe to have the window open all night. I really liked the location! Good food options on Earls Court and we really liked taking the Tube from there.
