It was so bad we literally had to leave and buy a hotel room for the night. It was so beyond quiet you could hear a pin drop. The heater didn’t work in our room and we were freezing. The check in guy was unfriendly and yelled at me when I couldn’t find the instructions to get into the building. I never received any check in information or the key code to get into the door.

It was a nice place to stay! Near to lots of attraction and old port! You can easily walk to any restaurant and museum around the Old Port! My room was clean and safe however a bit cold and noisy during night!

For where we were located and the price, Le 402 was a great option. We had our own private room with a gorgeous window and it was enough for the two of us. We were also able to keep our luggage stored past our check out, which was very helpful. We weren’t warned in advance, until approximately 24 hours prior, that there would be 2 steep sets of staircases to go up/down. We had heavy suitcases and a warning in advance would’ve been nice, especially because we might have had mobility needs and this wouldn’t be accessible. As well, while we mostly could come and go as we pleased, on the last day we were consistently bothered by the host to give a good review, and he knocked on our door at 10am to remind us that check out was at 11, even though we’d already received reminders via the Expedia messages and had indicated that we received that information. Over all, we had a great time, and 3 nights was the perfect amount of time to stay!

It was just a nice place. It was in a good area for either going out or staying in. No one really bothered us and we just had a good time. Avoid the 24 hour McDonald’s late at night!!

I felt warm, clean, safe and had privacy. I was sent the wrong codes/checkin information and couldn't enter until an employee heard me trying to get in. It was snowing and dark so that left me uneasy. Otherwise great.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE. no privacy in comfort room. The locks don’t work and the door doesn’t close properly. NO HEAT The washroom and shower is disgusting. Blood smudged all over the shower walls. wifi doesn’t work. I rather stay inside a jail cell before booking this place again

Really enjoyed staying in Old Montreal, the feel of this area is just something else. My stay wasn't terrible. It's a hostel with shared bathrooms so that's an inconvenience one signs up for. The first night i was there, in the room next to mine there was a very loud group of 4 people who were having a great time till about 2am and there were no staff around to say anything. Luckily they only stayed one night and the next two nights were a lot better. But just to say that if you do get unlucky like that, the walls are very thin and there isn't anyone around to intervene. Washroom was a very clean but room could have been cleaner. I am very conflicted if i would stay here again, because on the one hand i LOVED staying in Old Montreal but also i really like having a quiet and private space after a day of travel/exploration.

Very sketchy place, possibly not legal
It's a weird place. I'm not totally sure it's legal. I showed up in the evening when it was dark outside. There's no sign on the door. Everything is locked. It didn't look like there was even a hostel there. Called some numbers in the hotels.com email. Someone finally came down. Turns they were supposed to send me an email with the door codes for this "self check-in" hostel. They didn't. The whole place looks sketchy. My room didn't have windows. It smelled like cigarette smoke. The light switch had half its cover cut off and you could reach right inside to the wires. The shower was almost impossible to get into due to its poor design. The water took a good 5 minutes to heat up and then it basically existed on two settings: way too cold or almost too hot. The shower smelled mildewy from improper ventilation. On my last morning, a smoke alarm went off in the whole building and the guests themselves were calling 911 because there didn't seem to be any staff on site. I wasn't expecting a luxury hotel for the price I paid, but I've stayed in many hostels in my day and they were basic but a lot more pleasant.

I have read mixed reviews about this place and was very hesitant to book it.But, due to my feet pain, I really needed a place very close to the tourist spots that is affordable.Location was my number one priority and prepared for the possible disappointments. But,I'm thankful to get a room overlooking the streets and cafes and I'm so close to BIXI bikes stations!I biked everywhere as walking was hard for me.I got 1-month free subscription from BIXI. My room was clean and relatively big,with a big window. The shared areas: kitchen, washroom, and bathroom are clean and well-maintained. I stayed from Wed-Friday nights and it was relatively quiet. One thing I needed improvement was the water pressure/supply in the bathroom.It was less and weak.It took me a long time to wash off my shampoo & conditioner. In generally,I can say it's one of the risks in life I'm happy to have taken. My stay and experience in this hostel is generally positive.I'd definitely come back here and even recommend it to my friends.

Great location however I did not enjoy our room. There were no windows and despite there being a small fan the room was incredibly hot throughout the night. Also, although it states that it’s a non-smoking hostel our room smelt very strongly of cigarettes and it was not pleasurable for us at all. Maybe a different room would be better but I wouldn’t want to stay in that room again.

This location is superb must visit place cheap place for everyone and near to the old port. Property manager was so coperate and nice helpful person we went to Montreal first time and we enjoyed a lot because of better sleep. My overall experience with hostel was wonderful.
