Emmons Realty is thrilled to add 3 Bliss Lane on Jekyll Island to our vacation rental collection. We call the house Mocama in honor of the first inhabitants of the island, the coastal-dwelling members of the Timucua tribe. Mocama means the water, the place where the sun and moon are born.
The mid-century house, built in 1955, was one of the first houses built after the state of Georgia acquired the island. It was designed by Laurence Miller, who designed the towers on the causeway and The King and Prince Hotel on SSI.
This single-level brick beach cottage is adorned with live oaks and azaleas throughout the property. Visitors can enjoy relaxing in the beach-style seating located on the front porch and back patio. There is also a hammock located in the backyard in the shade of the oaks. The backyard provides ample space for children to play and for adults to gather and enjoy cooking on the new gas grill.
3 Bliss Lane is a lovely brick home with a farmhouse feel as well as a beach cottage ambiance. The owner has prominently displayed her own artwork throughout the home. All of the black and white photographs decorating the walls of the house were made on Georgia's barrier islands. There are a living room and a sun porch for socializing and enjoying a morning cup of coffee. The living room contains a 43-inch flat-screen television along with two comfortable chairs and a sofa. The sun porch has a small table for eating or playing games as well as a 60-inch flat-screen television, a sitting area, and two twin trundle beds.
The kitchen is well equipped with all amenities for an extended vacation and includes a center island and plenty of counter space. The adjacent dining area will comfortably seat six people.
The home contains two bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, a chaise lounge, and a 32-inch television. The second bedroom has a full-size bed and a daybed.
The two bathrooms have vintage ceramic tile flooring. One bathroom is located between the two bedrooms and the other is located between the kitchen and the sun porch. This room contains 2 twin beds, both having a trundle. This part of the home can be closed off to allow privacy for kids or adults There is a washer and dryer located in the bathroom within this area.
Parking is available in the front of the home and there is even enough room to park a small watercraft or a golf cart. Public beach access is only a 2-minute walk from the home and there is an area for rinsing off the sand after a wonderful day at the beach.
A guest pass to the Days Inn pools will be at the house. The heated pool is open year round while the other pool is open from April - November. Pool hours are from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M.
