Disappointing

Posted 1-Jan-2015
Pros: The view was very nice and location was perfect.
Cons: I understand that these kinds of things happen in the hotel business. I wish they could have done something about my clothes.
Location: The hotel was close to downtown, shopping and the university.
I chose this hotel because it was close to family and friends for the holiday season and because I've had a positive experience with Holiday Inns in the past. To be as objective as possible I will just list off the problems. -My room was only cleaned 2 of the 5 days I stayed at the hotel. -There were no baggage carts available upon my arrival. -The elevators were extremely slow (in service during my stay). -Key cards didn't work regularly. -Finally... Bed bugs! I found a bed bug in the bed and put it in glass and brought it to the front desk. In fairness to the hotel, they refunded the booking. I still had to throw out my entire wardrobe (including presents from Christmas) and have my winter jackets professionally cleaned. After the bed bugs we went to another hotel needless to say.

Nice clean hotel

Posted 24-Dec-2014
Location: We went to Celebrations dinner theatre just a couple of minutes down the road. It is right on Pembina so easy to get to all routes to anywhere in Wpg
We have no complaints about our stay. The only thing we ran into was the water in the shower ran hot and cold and during a shower you constantly had to adjust the water temperature. I mentioned it to the front desk when we checked out. The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. We were on the tenth floor and it was nice and quiet with a great view of downtown Winnipeg in the distance.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We are in the process of replacing the water balancing cartridges in our guest rooms to address the water temperature fluctuation issue.. I am confident that you will enjoy consistent water temperature and pressure on your next visit. We looking forward to seeing you again.

Clean, Confortable

Posted 8-Dec-2014
Pros: clean, comfortable, Breakfast worth the cost.
Cons: The bathroom needs a change. The room is large with a countertop 5 feet long. The sink is close to the left side about 6 inches so it is crowded.
good. Bathroom shower height needs improving. to short for normal people let alone tall people. See below.

Getting old

Posted 12-Nov-2014
Pros: Location and the staff. The food was quite good, too.
Cons: Update the furniture and redesign the closet area.
Location: Very few restaurants within walking distance, and the ones t hat there are are all fast food (Subway, etc). The closest non-fast food outlet was a but
This hotel, which is about a 15 minute drive from the airport and located on Pembina highway about 3 kms from the University of Manitoba, is starting to show its age. The room was clean although the furniture was stained in some places, such as on the arms of the armchair. Threads on the pillow case were coming loose, and there were threads hanging off the edges of the sheets. There were six pillows, but they were all the same kind - the soft, billowing ones that don't really support your neck and head. The hangar bars in the closet area (it's not closed off, just a small alcove near the door) are so low that pants on proper pants hangars drag on the floor. If you leave the luggage rack in the closet area , you can't even hang a shirt. The bathroom is well equipped, with an easily adjusted shower head. The temperature of the shower varied from luke warm to cold when I showered. As this was a handicapped room, there were lots of well placed bars and rails which I used and appreciated. One thing that annoyed me was the sound the heater/air conditioner made. Every time the unit turned on, it made what sounded like a muffled 'thud'. The noise wasn't really loud, but loud enough to wake me up every time it kicked in. And it kicked in about every 1/2 hour all night. What really sets this hotel apart from other hotels, however, is its staff. Even when working double shifts, the staff were consistently cheerful, friendly and helpful, especially the lad picking up the laundry.

Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate your comments with regards to the age of the furniture and fixtures at our hotel. Despite their age, we do endeavour to keep things clean and in good operation condition. Thanks for mentioning the heater noise, we have already addressed that issue. You will be pleased to learn that we are currently undertaking a compete refurbishment of our hotel. The first two floors of our new rooms will be open in just a couple of weeks. We are very excite about the changes and are confident tat our guests will be impressed as well.

Good for visitors to University of Manitoba

Posted 7-Nov-2014
Pros: Convenience.
Cons: Newer rooms and furnishings.
Location: Safe location, convenient to the University of Manitoba.
I will return. Facilities were clean and convenient. Look forward to the ongoing renovation. Room was dated but clean and comfortable. Best choice for visiting the University of Manitoba, which was then just 8 minutes away by car.

Good stay

Came down for the stampeders game here and the shuttle was late picking me up but the staff was great and the room was nice. There was also a bus station right across from the hotel that took me right to the stadium
