“everything we wanted and more - perfect for our family of four”
The River Inn exceeded our expectations in every way. The location was perfect - on a quaint tree-lined street of classic row houses, 3 blocks to the blue/orange lines of the Metro, just over the bridge to Georgetown, 3 blocks to Trader Joes and nice walk to the Lincoln Memorial. We had a huge one bedroom corner suite, with a kitchen equipped with fridge, microwave and cooktop, a dining table, two TVs and windows everywhere. We ate breakfast and a few dinners in and saved loads of money. The kids were perfectly content on the pull-out couch. The service was friendly and accommodating. When we couldn't figure out the DVD player, an engineer was sent within minutes. Every time we came in we were greeted warmly. We had rented a car over the weekend and staff clued us in that residential street parking was not in affect over the weekend (saving us the valet parking fee). They obviously didn't have to do this. Washed a quick load of laundry in the full size W/D and used the business center and fitness room. When we couldn't find The River Inn in any guide book I was a little worried but now we realize that this place is a hidden gem at a fabulous price. We'll definitely be back.
“Comfortable, quiet and clean”
I was very pleased with The River Inn. My business was in Georgetown and the hotel is a short walk away. Overall service is very good. I was impressed at the quietness of the room.
“Very good location”
Very good location. Two blocks from the Kennedy center, and a five minute walk from Georgetown. In a quiet residential neighborhood though. Plenty of on street parking on the weekends. Full kitchen with dishes, good service, and spacious rooms.
“Excellent quality/value ratio”
This is a very good choice for a business, and even a leisure traveller. Very spacious suites with all the amenities including free DSL internet service in your room. Well located and good service. Not at all expensive to boot.
“Will be using the River Inn each time I return to Washington”
The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. I was traveling with my parents of almost 90 years old and the personnel was more than helpful obaining a taxi and providing early check-in.
“Most impressed!”
After much searching for a decent hotel close to all the D.C. sights, I settled on the River Inn. I could not have been more happy with my choice. I spent 12 days as a guest, and did not have a single problem or complaint. The staff without exception were pleasant and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and it was in a safe and quiet upscale neighborhood. It was a three minute walk to the nearest metro station at GWU, and then only a few stops to get to the Mall. Nearby there is a 7-11 and a nice grocery store. A brisk 15 minute walk will get you to a wonderful area with shops and bookstores. I will make sure to use the River Inn next time I'm in town!
“Great little hotel in Foggy Bottom”
We stayed at the River Inn for a week this August. The hotel was very quick to get us checked in and with advice/directions. It is only about a five minute walk from the Metro and about ten from Georgetown. We took advantage of the kitchen in the room-there is a Trader Joes two blocks from the hotel and a Safeway in the Watergate two blocks in the other direction. The room was large enough for the three of us to comfortably hang out and was very clean. If we go back to DC we'll definitely stay here.
“Convenient Place to Stay”
The River Inn was a very convenient hotel to all of the attractions in DC. It is located in a safe, quiet neighborhood about 2 blocks from Georgetown and about a 1 block in the other direction from the Metro station. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The kitchenette was a bonus for breakfast in the morning. There are not a lot of restaurants surrounding the hotel since it is in a residential neighborhood. The staff very accomodating. There is very limited hotel parking. The first night we parked overnight on the street. The remaining nights we parked in the George Washington University parking garage. It was only 2 blocks away. You don't need to use a car in DC. The Metro system was easy, clean and convenient to use.
“unexpected value”
in a very nice neighborhood
“Better Than Ever”
Our 5th stay at River Inn. Handy to GWU, Metro and the Capitol in a lovely, quiet residential neighborhood. Staff are welcoming, enthusiastic, extremely helpful & maintain high standards of service. Suites are clean, comfortable & fairly spacious with nice amenities. Room service much improved w/new menu of very tasty selections & prompt, pleasant service. Especially glad to have secure parking for our packed vehicle, at a good price, w/valet service.
