“Great Hotel”
excellent location within walking distance from train station, not too far to pull our rolling luggage. was very quiet location for sleeping. very helpful staff and the breakfast was more than adequate. convenient to water taxi service for tour of the grand canal and trip to St Marks
“Tucked away in an alley, but would stay again.”
It's right near the train St. Lucia train station, you have to go left through some of the street and you won't be able to see it on the street, but there is a sign with the "@" symbol for internet, its there, you need to be heads up, but when you find it it's a nice place. There's a lot of places to eat around it, again, its proximity to the train station cannot be beat, you can walk to it in 4 minutes. They were fine with me keeping my luggage there after checkout, which was great. They invited me to have breakfast shortly before the check out time, which was wonderful. Internet connection is fine, I was able to upload photos of my travels and check email, chat with people [skype video]. Television channels were lacking I would say, but I was able to watch the olympics, that's all that mattered. You do need passport for internet, as is standard in all Italian hotels and wifi locations, there's legislation mandating that they keep record of the people they allow internet access to. For the money, I will say it's a good deal. I went during Carnevale, which is a big time, and the hotel is on the island. So for it's location it can't be beat. Again, location and internet is the reason why I stayed here. I would stay again.
“Excellent budget hotel in Venice”
In expensive Venice, especially during the Film Festival, the Caprera is an inexpensive, clean, convenient choice. Although there's no lift, the staff are helpful. An important perk is free internet access at the internet point next door to the hotel entrance. Look for the @ sign to know where to turn. Close to the train station, but quiet, since the hotel is in a calle. The Guglio vaporetto stop is about the same distance and the Ferrovia (train station) stop, but much less crowded.
“Great for the money”
Good place to rest my head at night after a long day of site seeing. Only drawbacks were no air conditioning and no english TV channels. Everything else was great - easy to get to, breakfast available, safe environment, clean room.
“"I'd return!"”
Wonderful location-close to rail station, water transport, restaurants, shops, etc. Quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small, but it fit my purposes perfectly. Considering the hotel prices in Venice, this was on the low side.
“Cute little hotel”
This is the perfect little hotel....it's off on a side street but still near the water bus and train station (less than 5 minute walk) and near some good shopping. The room we had was small but had it's own air conditioner (which was nice because it was warm out) and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was nice...small, but nice. The only thing that was odd was that we needed to leave our room key with the front desk. Not something we were used to but everything was fine with our room. One of the reviews I read mentioned not being able to find the side street the hotel was on. But it did tell us when we were walking down the main street, after turning left at the train station, to look for the @ symbol on the left. This was the perfect description. We would not have found the small side street otherwise.
“Great location and good value”
The staff were very helpful although the hotel was small and quite old it was very clean and the staff did a great job with the resources they had. It was good value for Venice
“Nice little place”
I would definately return. All around very decent.
