Don’t let the photos fool you - this is a hostel with shared toilets. A dorm, essentially.
I booked two nights at Hotel Victorian when I was in town for a concert - at the time, most affordable option in the area, conveniently close to Rogers Arena, and seemed to have some character - beautiful photos. At $250 a night, I wasn’t about to pay an extra fee to have the option to cancel - I wish I would have. Shortly after booking, I got an email from the property saying that there were shared bathrooms on each floor.
We arrived and were rudely “greeted” by the concierge. Not sure how this guy ended up in hospitality, but he should be doing something that doesn’t make him so miserable and terribly, terribly unpleasant.
Room was tiny, a bed with a TV and pedestal sink - all we needed, really. But at $250 a night????
Sink didn’t turn on at first. Had to turn the water on, then realized why it was turned off in the first place - constant leak.
Seems like two full baths and two half baths per floor. On my way to the shower, someone had just taken a huge numero two, didn’t turn the fan on and left the door open to share with the rest of the building. Nice. Showers both occupied, so took myself barefoot and in a robe carrying all my toiletries to the next floor up where the tiles were all wet and towels all over the ground, like after a kid’s bath time. Better off camping or going to the fairmont for $300/night breakfast included. Brutal.
