“a European feel”
The hotel is in the old central plaza, facing an old cathedral across the square which is lit beautifully at night. It feels like a combination of restored hacienda and business hotel. The pool is pretty, the wifi worked. The room was small but comfortable, and we didn't use the A/C because there were screened windows and it was cool enough. Attractive outdoor courtyard restaurant setting but we didn't eat there as it was an easy walk to other eating establishments. The parking area seemed secure and staff was helpful.
“Un havre de paix au centre ville”
tout était parfait, chambre, confort, un excellent restaurant , un petit déjeuner succulent.
“Comfortable Hotel”
Comfortable hotel right on the plaza. Sunday nights there is live music at 8pm in the plaza. Great place to stay on the way to Chichen Itza. Good breakfast, didn't try the restaurant hotel for any other meal though.
“A must on your way to Chichen Itzs”
This was our favorite hotel of our Cancun trip. We stayed at a 5 star resort in Playa Del Carmen and when we got home, we both agreed that our time at the El Meson Del Marques was our most enjoyable stay. The gracious hosts, and charm and the courtyard and town, make this a must visit on your way to Chichen Itza, I highly recommend the restuarant., the food is excellent, I had the Valloidid sausage and my husband had the coconut shrimp which is not breaded, but made at your table with huge shrimp and cococut sauce. They also include breakfast. The town is easy to walk around and you get a real sense of what the Mayan life may have been long ago. They have a parking lot in back of the hotel, which is attended too and you must show your ticket to leave, so felt very safe. The hotel used to be someone's mansion in the early days and it still retains the sense that you are entering a home, rather than an hotel. You walk out on the town square, which is quite lovely. Great hotel, and a fun way to see more of the Yucatan Pennisula than just hotel strip of Cancun
“Excellent hotel!!”
I can't believe no one has written a review of this hotel yet! This is the second time we have stayed here in the last few years. The hotel is even better this last time. All rooms renovated. Restuarant is excellent! Really no arguement except that their prices have gone up since the last time we came through Valladolid. I guess they had to pay for the reno:)
“El Meson de Marques - "excellente!"”
Beautiful hotel in a lovely colonial city. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived (though it was really hard to find the entrance for self-parking...). Our room was very special - it overlooked the town square and the Church, which was beautifully lighted at night. You should absolutely ask for one of these rooms. Friendly and accommodating staff. We had a great stay.
“Beautiful Hacienda-style hotel”
Possibly the most beautiful hotel I've ever seen. The exterior is nothing special, but walk inside and you'll find amazing open air courtyards with huge trees and pretty fountains. Very friendly staff, and good food as well. We don't speak Spanish and we didn't find many (any?) English-speakers on staff, or in the city of Valladolid in general, but it didn't present a problem. Charming hotel and town.
“Wonderful stay, relaxing and lots of character”
A hotel with a lot of character that was more than just room cleanliness. bear in mind not a "modern" hotel, eg no fridge, but was very relaxing and teh staff were charming and helpful
“Loved it!”
Beautiful, historic hotel with a perfect location. Great place to see and be seen!
“Out standing”
Very nice staff. Rooms were clean, the beds were a little hard. It is a beautiful hotel. Great location. The free breakfast was a plus and it was very good. Dinner not so much but there are plenty of places to eat near by. I would stay there again. The pool was clean and clear. they have secure parking in the back of the hotel. This was our port in the storm, we had left the east coast of Mexico to get away from the hurricane RINA. we stayed for 2 night and really had a good time.
