Thanks for sharing your experience! We appreciate you taking the time to give an honest appraisal of your stay. With live music downstairs on some nights, it can be noisy upstairs. The weekend you stayed was the Oosik ski race and so Talkeetna and the Fairview were livelier than normal.

Hello James, I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the Fairview Inn. We certainly aim for our guests to enjoy their stay. You are right: staying at the Fairview Inn, particularly on a night with live music, might not be for everyone.We do in fact have a refund policy- and it clearly states on the opening page of our Expedia listing "Fully Refundable". It is challenging to describe the Fairview Inn under the choices allocated by Expedia to drive their algorithms. We do have the bar noted on the listing, but we also have clearly indicated under our Policies Section: "This property is located above a live music venue. Guests may hear music and event-related noise until late at night". TVs are certainly not indicated as an amenity on our listing, because, as you pointed out: there are none. Surely they would only add to the noise issues for those staying in adjoining rooms.Because we are also a bar we certainly do not allow children to stay at the Fairview Inn. Again, that is clearly indicated on our listing. We certainly do not aim to deceive anyone. We can only hope that guests do their own due diligence and read all of the information that is provided on our listing.We are in the business of providing a good time and an enjoyable stay. We have quiet nights at the Fairview, and we also have nights with live bands. We are proud to be one of the few places to provide live music year round, in such a small, rural, Alaskan village. We are a 100 year old establishment that has not changed much, which adds to it's quirky charm, and so just as 100 years ago, one does check in with the bar for room keys. I am sorry this was problematic for you. We do not list a restaurant as part of our establishment, but we certainly have nuts and chips at the bar for those who may need a snack.Thank you for taking the time to write your review.
