Peaceful and cozy
We really enjoyed this peaceful and cozy home. The backyard was beautiful, we loved watching the birds and using the soaker tub and sauna. The inside was cozy and comfortable. Everyone had their own space, and we had a lot of fun playing darts and scrabble. The town of Sooke is very cute and the people were friendly. We travel quite a bit, and this has been one of my favorite places. I highly recommend staying here.

Peaceful & Cozy
A sweet cozy little log home with everything you could need. We stayed 5 nights here with our family of 5. It was perfect. We love Sooke (this is our second stay in this area). The property has everything you could need. The beds are super comfy. We loved the households amenities, it meant packing so much less items each & being able to cook our own meals if we wanted. The soaker tub & sauna in the beautiful backyard were great. We did day trips out & were happy to return to a place like this, so easy to relax & wind down in.

We had a great stay! Everyone had somewhere comfy to sleep. It was close to town for food and groceries, Ed McGregor Park and the Wiffin Spit. A close drive to the Sooke Potholes as well.

Log Cabin Christmas
We booked the Log Cabin Retreat for a Christmas vacation with family that live in Sooke & Sidney. The magic began when we saw the cabin sparkling with Christmas lights. Once inside we found it to be toasty warm, thanks to the heat pump. The ambiance was beautifully set with the electric fire place blazing and Christmas tree all aglow. We really appreciated all the attention to detail that was made on our behalf. The kitchen was well appointed so we were able to host a family Brunch easily. The king bed in the master was so comfortable with the thickest Duvet & softest sheets. We also appreciated the electric fire place & en-suite bath. We loved our Christmas stay and our host was helpful & attentive to our needs.

Relaxing log cabin type home
We just stayed overnight to get the feel of the Sooke area and to experience a different kind of house/property. It's clear that the owner made every effort to make things comfortable, warm, and clean. Much appreciated. The highlight was the sauna and soaker tub. The warning about adding cold water to adjust the temperature after filling the tub with hot water should be made a bit more explicit, though, as the hot water is really hot. Thank you to Michelle for making the property available!

Overall Very Nice
All was great overall. Michelle is an excellent communicator and is speaking with you at intervals letting you know codes and making sure you get in and set up smoothly. The house is a sleeps 10, but 6 and it’s a bit cramped. We had 5 adults and a 4 year old and the bathrooms were definitely at or over capacity. The pet friendly designation is a little bit of a misnomer. To be fair and honest, we left the dogs outside by accident in the wedding commotion. Michelle phoned me at the wedding to let us know and she kindly went back to the house to let the dogs into the house, but she also let me know you can’t leave your animals alone in the residence or the yard. I love my dogs, but I can’t live life without leaving my dogs alone sometimes. The neighbors are a little touchy about barking dogs, even though there are others dogs in the neighborhood who actually bark more than ours. To be fair to Michelle, the mistake was not hers, it was ours in leaving them outside and she was really good about helping out. As far as a host goes, she was outstanding, just be aware of the neighbors and the rules is all I would suggest.

Another great stay
This was our third stay here (2 adults/one dog), and another great one. Michelle’s house is lovely - clean, roomy and very welcoming, and with a large, secure and serene backyard. Check-in is easy, and Michelle’s communication is excellent. The location is easy to find, and close to amenities. Look forward to staying there again.

Great Location, can highly recommend.
This is our second time at this property, it is as described, clean and comfortable. An easy walk into Sooke centre. The location is great for exploring the SW corner of the island, the East Sooke peninsula and is around a 40min drive to Victoria. The host is easy to deal with and very quick in replying. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.

The house more than met our needs of spending quality time with (grand) parents in a comfortable, relaxed place. The bed set-up worked well for the 6 of us, and the dog "facilities" were very good. The garden was outstanding and such a special place for a tranquil peaceful moment. Very good location and parking was convenient at the front door.

Peaceful stay!
Visiting friends from Ontario enjoyed the peacefulness of the beautiful backyard with a sauna, Japanese hottub, sauna and multiple water features! The birds were welcoming and we even had a large deer walk by the front window! The inside was spacious, kitchen fully functional, 3 bedrooms with plenty of room in the living room for lounging and sleeping. Parking was convenient and close to the entrance. Idyllic place in the Spring
My friend and I had a delightful stay while we were participating in the Sooke Philharmonic Chamber Music Workshop. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen amenities abundant, and the birds frequenting the backyard pools and fountains entertained us daily.

We had a wonderful few days in this lovely, super dog-friendly log cabin. We all loved the back yard, but especially our two dogs. Location is excellent, close to pretty much everything. We hope to be back in the fall.

Lovely Cabin stay for NYE
The host was warm and welcoming and checked (text) to make sure our first night was good and if we needed anything. We made use of the soaker tub, sauna and had a fire one night. The kitchen was perfect as we all took turns cooking meals. We also enjoyed the large table where we could gather for games and meals. The little touches were love including the local soap products in the bathrooms. The only thing of note is that the floors were a bit cold, given the way the cabin is heated, but just remember your slippers and you will be fine!

We really enjoyed our 4 nights at the log house. The home is clean, very well equipped, comfortable, great beds and nice touches like fluffy bathrobes and lovely local bath products. Backyard well cared for and so nice to have a fenced area for our dog. You would never know the host allowed pets everything so clean and she even provided a new dog bed and dishes for my dog. Good location can walk to many of the stores, restaurants short easy drives to the hiking trails and beaches. Host was attentive and easy to reach. We highly recommend the log home, a great stay!

This is a cozy place for 4 with all the essentials and many nice touches provided by the hosts. It gave me back some faith in the vacation rental model! There were several nice restaurants nearby and it was a short drive to some beautiful hikes. I recommend this place:).

Exactly what we were looking for. Very cozy, clean, quiet and wonderfully decorated space. Zen backyard and sauna, as well as special hygiene products make it a perfect place to relax and unwind. Michelle has gone above and beyond to provide all the necessities and a perfect welcoming space for everyone. I stayed with 5 girlfriends for 2 nights, and only regret is not being able to stay longer. I'll surely be back with my family and my dog. I highly recommend this place and I guarantee you won't find a better place on the island at such reasonable price.

Wish we could have stayed longer ...
Our short 2 night stay really was a true west coast experience. The log home is comfortable, clean and quiet, with impressive amenities. We enjoyed great quality bedding - a soft, fluffy duvet on a lofty king-size mattress, and excellent quality spa robes, plenty of thick towels in the 2 well-designed bathrooms, equipped with heavenly scented shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. We relaxed in the main living area, watching the large screen TV in front of the cozy gas fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with high quality appliances, tons of dinnerware, utensils, pots and pans – anything you’d need is there. The outside area is what really makes this property special. We really enjoyed the spacious yard with water features and lovely landscaping, we and made use of the fire pit – before the wind whipped up. The far infrared sauna was also a treat. We loved the property and would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a peaceful, down to earth, luxurious getaway.

Loved this log cottage. Great location in Sooke - handy to everything. The distillary, brew pubs, restaurants, boardwalk trail - all in walking distance. Amazing backyard, hot tub, and you can sit under the stars around the campfire. Really lovely.

We all enjoyed our stay at the loghouse retreat. More than enough room for 4 to 6 of us. TV's in the living room and all 3 bedrooms helped with our varied viewing tastes and privacy. The backyard was awesome. We spent a lot of time in the lush fenced yard. The pond, soaker tub, sauna plants, shrubs, flowers and visiting birds added to our enjoyment. Thanks Michele and Emily.

What a sweet cabin.
This home is so cozy, it feels like a warm hug on a cold day when you walk in the door. It's an oasis, really, a seeming cabin in the woods. We were enthralled with the fruit trees. The sauna and soaker tub were perfect at the end of a long day. Definitely will recommend and would stay here again!

Sooke Log House Retreat
We're still talking about Michelle's Retreat. Such quiet serenity. We're so happy we were able to secure the reservation for this wonderful property. Anything that you could imagine needing during your stay (and then some) was provided. Sooke is such a wonderful area to stay in. Her home home was so convenient for getting to the "downtown" area and to the activities in Sooke. We were so glad that we chose to stay in Sooke vs Victoria. Incredible stay. Incredible host.
