The one thing that ruins this place for me is that it's not clean. When I arrived - late in the afternoon and well past the 2pm check-in time - the carpets in my room had not been vacuumed and the bathroom had been superficially cleaned but there was built-up black dirt around the lid of the toilet cistern.
At least the beds hadn't been obviously slept in. I don't think.
I was too tired to protest at the time, and to be fair I put the "please make up the room" sign on and came back to a somewhat cleaner room the next day.
But this is still kind of disgusting and I don't want to think about what was left undone that I didn't look too closely at. Even the crummiest most basic hotel I've ever been to has at least been clean. I've NEVER arrived to a dirty room before, anywhere, ever.
Other reviews stating that the lights are flaky, the staff don't pick up the phone, and random appliances and fixtures don't work - they're all true. And yes, the furniture is old and worn.
But to me, the dirtiness is the dealbreaker that breaks all deals. I will not be staying there again. Gross.
