The building is quite old but our 2 room suite had updated flooring, beds, and a full size fridge. Most everything was clean except for the windows, air conditioner, & heater vents. Staff was helpful & friendly. Had a great sleep but it is located next to the railway tracks (none must have went through that night). For the price, it was a great stay. There is an in building restaurant, convenience store & liquor store.

Disappointed !!!!
Room that was booked was not available and changed to a multi bedroom apartment. Musty , cigarettes, last meal cooked smell and filthy. Lock on door did not look like it would hold. Decided not to stay and drove to Grand Prairie and found another Hotel.

The people were great but the place is worn out and run down. The surface was pealing from the tub. There was a hole in the sink and only the hot water worked at the sink. Seemed fairly clean but hard to tell when everything is brown and worn.

Some things were upgraded in the room, no hair blower so couldn't shower and do my hair, couldn't get t.v. to work, internet wasn't strong enough to work, dirty big cushion on furniture was hard to look at, no comforter on bed just a sleeping bag but pleasant staff when booked in. Smell of grease fried when walked in hotel, not pleasant.

I paid $98.00 for the night for myself only. I was charged $136.00 when I first received the debit machine and had to explain that Expedia said it was $98.00 I showed her the app with the price. This Hotel is not worth more then $65.00 a night as 2 of my workers stayed in another hotel in Spirit River that was just as nice or bad depending how you look at it. $65.00 bucks a night. I will not stay here again.

My apologies that your furnace wasn't working. Sometimes the pilot light goes out, or the high temp limit switch will trip. If you let the staff on the main floor know, or call the emergency number that is written on the wall behind the front desk (after hours), we are happy to come and solve your problem for you. We went through all furnaces 2 weeks ago and made sure they are clean and emery clothed all the thermo-couplers, so the pilot lights will be more reliable.... Hopefully their is no further maintenance issues over the winter, but if there is, do not hesitate to let us know, so that we can fix the problem immediately.

The hotel has been lived in and is run down. We had popcorn ceiling sloughing in the room. Couch and bed were very dated. WiFi pretty much didn't work so don't plan to use it for anything serious, like work.

Thanks Sean, your reply is the first negative reply we have had since I took over the place and when I bought the place it was a bit of a "fixer-upper", but I would say that the half million I spent making everything new again has mostly cleaned the place up. I was unaware of the popcorn stipple that was coming off in the corner of the one bedroom, thanks for the update, I have fixed it already, perhaps next time you can complain to management instead of complaining to the world wide web, so we can resolve the problem without you trying to smear our top notch reputation? The couches are all fold out hide-a-beds, (as I figured practical outweighs brand new), but they were all purchased within the last five years, so they are not as old as you make them sound... The beds are all pillow-top queen-sized mattresses and were also purchased only 3 years ago (and I have never had anything (except compliments) about the quality of sleep that guests get here, (until this rant).... As far as the WIFI goes I have 2 x 75 MBPS DSL connections, going to 8 different wireless routers, (which is the best internet connection that I can get in a small village in the middle of nowhere).... I have 10 rooms that I have personally tested all of them streaming video with our firesticks, going in every room, at the same time, and the system works just fine.... The only complication is that the thick cement walls do not allow the wireless to penetrate very far (which is why I have strategically positioned 8 Wi-Fi connections for 10 rooms), and IF YOU LOG ON TO THE ONE THAT IS CLOSEST TO YOUR ROOM YOU GET GREAT INTERNET, (however), if you log onto one that is too far away from your room the connection can be very poor. Perhaps next time you should have the courage to come and speak to management if you are unhappy with your room stay so we have the opportunity to make it better? Im sure you will get alot more out of your stay, (then you do saying nothing to the people that can help you, and choose to tell the world instead). Meanwhile we will do our best to keep trying to make the place better, each and every day.

Ad was not clear about shared bathroom, The manager was the most unprofessional I have ever met. Wait staff does not wait on you, you have to do all the work. Food was terrible both times I ate there.

I wish I could post the picture of our single standard room (as it says RIGHT IN THE TITLE of the room that he booked, that it is a SHARED BATHROOM) ... and I was kind enough to call him immediately after he booked the room, to give him the opportunity to cancel the room (as we had no other rooms available to upgrade him to, because we are the nicest hotel in the area, and we are always FULL HOUSE).... and this PRIMA DONNA was unhappy before he even entered the building, and so his disrespectful personality was rewarded with a taste of his own medicine. I don't expect any of my staff to be mistreated by a guest and be forced to kiss their butts, and this guy got exactly what he deserved, he got treated like the whiner and complainer that he is. If you look at ALL of our reviews (over the past 3 years since I took over this business), it is 100% POSITIVE REVEIWS.... so I think that the "rest of the story" is pretty obvious with this clown.

We are a 100% non smoking hotel, but sometimes guests smoke in rooms at our expense. So, without question, we offered you a free upgrade to a different room and you refused to take it, so I really don't have any obligation to refund the money for the room.... upon further investigation (after the guest had left), we discovered that the room did NOT smell like smoke and the guest was just using that as an excuse to try to get out of their obligation to pay for the room. It was an early check in, so I suspect that they just wanted to make more miles that day and were trying to make this scene to get out of their obligation to guarantee their reservation. We are a small hotel and we can not afford to have people blocking rooms (so that no one else can reserve them), and then canceling at the last minute. Thats a luxury that only big hotels can afford (but their prices are also alot higher, and you cant have the best of both worlds).

This is a small town hotel, stayed in a renovated room, which was large and clean (2 queen sized beds), bed was very comfortable, tub/shower combo in bathroom. No problems at check in, gave me key early as there is not a night shift. Would stay here again

And (in an effort to remain completely accurate), u were informed upon arrival, (not after checked-in), you didn't check in, you arrived, you cancelled and you left.... AND your were not charged any fees for that. We would have called you in advance but you didn't leave any contact information when you made your reservation! And sorry for the inconvenience.... And thanks for the great review... (wink,wink)

Par for the area.
The hotel is under new ownership. It lacks curb appeal from the outside to the inside, but you can tell they are trying. The beds were good, and clean linens, which was most important to me as I don’t like the idea of bugs. Full size fridge was nice.

I will be honest, I was not looking forward to an overnight stay in Rycroft. There are only a few older hotels in the area and the only hotel that had a room available in short notice was The Rycroft Hotel. Upon entering our room we were grateful that I had booked here. Our room was clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. Check in was easy and super friendly.

It was difficult to access staff. We didn't get the room we requested. The upgrade was disappointing. Friends who stayed in this same hotel were without both heat and hot water the first night.

Pleasantly surprised at how clean the Hotel was. It’s an old small town hotel, but the rooms were fine. Coffee Shop never seemed to be open, had to go to the truck stop for breakfast.

Rycroft Hotel
The hotel was clean and tidy, was expecting it to be noisy because of the pub downstairs but that was not the case. I would stay here again next time I'm in Rycroft.

Drive further for real hotels, don't stay here
This hotel is new to Expedia so check in was disastrous. Even after showing them my confirmation and payment receipt from Expedia, because I prepaid for the room, they were refusing to accept it and were adamant I pay for my room at a price of $50 more than what Expedia charged me. Finally they got it through their heads that I had indeed already paid for the room and I checked in (about 40 mins later!!). My room door was inches away from the hotel restaurant vent so I could smell was greasy kitchen the whole time. Nasty. Rooms are what you'd expect in a small town but if I never have to stay here again I won't.

Good Sir, Thanks for the incredibly negative first review! Its always refreshing to see a keyboard warrior giving his best attack to an unsuspecting team (that is still getting a grasp on how to manage these Expedia bookings through an online channel manager)... LOL... Can I suggest that next time you are unhappy with something regarding a room, that you go speak to management and have them rectify it? We can keep some of the people happy, all of the time, and all of the people happy, some of the time, but sometimes its impossible to keep anyone happy, if they just complain to the world (instead of complaining to the staff that are here to help)... just saying Thanks for your patronage!
