OK. Where do I even begin!! Customer service was great. Room was clean and tidy. That is all the positives. Now for the real stuff. Upon arrival I went to my room and it was hot. I asked them to turn on the AC. They said they could not because it was against the law??? What?? They are not allowed to use AC in the Winter. They told me to open my windows. I did that and the cigarette smoke wafted in my room. I am allergic to it. Plus the street noise was bad. Bad suggestion. Next. My fridge was not working. They said they would fix it the next day. Next. The TV was all in Italian. Come on folks. Most people speak English and you can not even offer one channel!! in English.Next. Shower was very small. To wash my legs I had to stick my head out of the shower stall. Shower curtain barely covered the opening. No place to rest my soap or shampoo. Elevator was next to my room. Very noisy. Breakfast was really bad. Hard boiled eggs, stale pastries, yogurt, tepid juice and milk. Cold cereal. Processed cheese in cellophane wrap.Three days before I left the stoll water kept running. I asked then to fix which they said they would but did not know when??? I said I can not sleep with the water running continuosly. They gave me another room. Wow!! This is the room that looked like the picture online. Why was I not given this room,Buyer beware. The pictures are deceiving. I am sure I am leaving something out but this is enough to neverwant me to come back. The owner spends $$ on the outside

We enjoyed our stay @ this hotel with a 24 hour desk clerk, who was there to answer questions and assist. Having an elevator was a plus too. The self serve breakfast was nice to have also.

This is the worst hotel I have stayed at. When we got to Rome we found that the hotel was a very long way out of town, about 30 minutes by bus just to get to the edge of the metro network. Roughly an hour to get in via bus (through some very dodgey areas) and train. On our first night we got told the bar didn't sell Italian beer. They also only had one bottle of red wine and that was never re stocked. The bathroom sink had no mechanism to plug it and other guests told us theirs was the same. The TV only worked intermittently. The breakfast which was provided had some nice cakes and things but the cheese was just plastic wrapped slices with no flavour. I don't know how they have 3 stars. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Convenient if traveling with a car. Can park and take bus/train to sights in Rome. Staff was helpful. Very reasonably priced. Area is very congested at peak commuter times. Some issues with limited parking but worked out. Clean and decent and safe.

Avoid this place
Do not judge this hotel by pictures, or the way the building looks like from outside. Room was dirty. Carpets were not vacuumed. Black mold in the ceiling in the room and bathroom. Bathroom was caked with mold. Bathtub was not cleaned in a while and had dirt built up. Front desk person told us we could park in their parking lot, but withheld information that they charged for parking. Location is not close to anything. Unless you have a car, you should not stay here if you are planning to see any of the tourist sights.

Great Hotel for a couple to do sightseeing in Rome
We booked into the Aurora Garden Hotel having looked at previous reviews. We arrived at the hotel about 8.00 pm and was greeted by very friendly staff. We booked the hotel away from the centre of Rome as we were travelling as a couple and were happy to travel as the centre of Rome is only 8km away. The room was very small but functional but the only draw back would be that they do not provide any tea or coffee facilities in the room only a minibar. We walked to the centre of Rome via the Via Nomentana which took us ages but was really enjoyable as on the way we saw a lot of the surrounding areas and how the Italians lived and stopped off in a few cafes along the way. We did however use the metro but at first it was very confused and once we did eventually master it it was very easy. We would definitely go back there as it was good value for money and although 8km away from the centre of Rome it did not bother us. It would not be a good idea to take kids though.

We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff told us about many neat places to visit that we would not have normally known about. This hotel wasn't as close to downtown but it was close to the subway which was easy and efficient to get downtown.

Aurora Garden Hotel
The hotel was rather out of the way of other tourist locations, and the taxi that the hotel concierge kindly booked for us was ludicrously expensive compared to taxis we got from in town back to the hotel (many of the in-town taxi drivers hadn't even heard of the hotel!). All staff were friendly and, despite a slight language barrier, were always helpful. All functions and resources of the hotel were basic and limited; the breakfast 'buffet' (included in the package) was poor quality and unimaginative, and the room service menu was nearly bare. That being said, we were only really using the hotel as a place to stay as we explored the city throughout the day, and so it is more a place that I would recommend to sightseers, and not to families expecting plenty of entertainment from the hotel. Decent and acceptable all round, no major complaints.

The hotel was ok, we just needed a place to crash for one night. about 1 hour away by public transport to central Rome. We would probably look for a hotel near the metro station the next time, we wasted a lot of time in the traffic. Good parking facilities. Receptionist kept trying to sell us one of their tours the whole time! I would not go back there.

We've spent six nights at the hotel and find it an unexpected gem. Read and decide for yourself. Convenience: The hotel is located in the San Cleto area of Rome, Northeast of the center of the city. It may be hard to locate it on a map, but it is surprisingly easy to reach by subway and bus: From Downtown Rom: You take linea [Line] B -- the Blue Line, toward Rebibia which is the final stop, but get off one stop before at Ponte Mammolo because it is a bus station with lots of buses coming and going. At the bus station take bus 343 or 344 to Casale San Basilio and Nicolai. From there it's 5-7 minutes on foot to the hotel.. Buses run until very very late at night as does the subway. There are at least two restaurants within a short walking distance from the hotel, both serve good food and are open late and there are several stores/delis (including a bakery) within minutes of the hotel. Breakfast: Aurora Gardens is a bed & breakfast hotel and breakfast is served conveniently from 7:00 to 10:00 A.M. It consists of toast (white or rye), fruit salad a variety of meats and cheeses, an assortment of bakery goods, juice, and hard-boiled eggs. The coffee is excellent and you can have as many cups of Americano, cappuccino, cafe latte etc. It's a wonderful breakfast. Room & Bathroom: The room is comfortably spacious, has dark blinds for people who come to Rome to sleep late (I don't understand that). The bed was wide and very good (I know, I suffer from a bad back on occasion), the lights were all over the place, the water in the bath was hot (or very hot if you prefer to turn it up), and the hotel supplied large fluffy towels plus a mat. The sink was large and did not require the use of contortions. New and clean towels and a mat appeared daily on the rack. The room has a fairly big closet with hangers as well as a desk and a mini fridge stocked with drinks (but YOU pay dearly for them) .This was convenient enough to store some cheese/meats when we didn't feel like going out at night. There are no drawers or shelf space for clothes, however—only for hanging. Staff:: Perhaps the most important element at the Aurora Gardens -- certainly for people who do not speak Italian – are staff members at their hotel. Every one of the courteous and extremely helpful front desk managers spoke English well. Alex (who speaks 4-5 languages including Thai, German, and, of course, English) is a delightful person and a welcome help in every way. Daniele and the late-night manager (whose name we regrettably forgot) are equally pleasant and helpful. They helped us find places, book reservations at a museum and recommended restaurants, bus routes etc. If you are looking for a great hotel at a decent price look no further! We did not mind travelling 30 min to the city centre by bus.Public transport is very cheap in Rome and for 4 euros you can have unlimited travel per day so this hotel was just fine.Everything was reasonable. It was clean, comfortable and breakfast was fine. You basically get what you pay for .Internet wasn't free and we rented a car to get us there and back to the Airport so it was quite convenient.

Good hotel in general.
Friendly stuff, clean room, the restorant"Crasy cow" is near by, 5 minutes walk....in general, good transpotration, about 30 minutes by bus. The stuff will explain how to get to the Historical part of the city by bus. It is 3star hotel and it perfectelly reflects the title of the hotel. If you need good breakfast, clean bed, silence, and few days in Roma, I would recommend this hotel. Just be aware, it is not 5star hotel, it is modest, but friendly and clean that serves the purpose of your stay in marvelous Roma!

A Lovely Aurora
Aurora Gardens Hotel was located within a bus (343 - 344) and tube (Rebbibia to Termini) ride of Central Rome. The tube would actually take you to the Colosseum station if you stopped on but connections were often easy and there was no more waiting than 9 minutes. The bus's were frequent and went through the heart of Italian life. The tube and bus's were often full and it was a case of 'Everyone for themselves' to get on. There are no orderly cue's in Italy. It didn't all look like an Italy you may imagine but being away from the major 'Tourist' hotels gave you a better idea of life in 'Italy'. The locals were never un-friendly and never caused any reason to be concerned - Italians do tend to stare at you - but they do this to all and it can feel a little uncomfortable until you relise they meaning nothing by it. The Hotel reception area were very helpful in matters that you would approach them with. (Although they didn't tell us there was a transport strike on one of our days! oops). The reception areas were covered by people whom spoke English which was very refreshing as most Italians in Rome have not learnt the English. As one receptionist told me "Why would we know English, we are Italian?". (English is multi-national language, Rome lives on Tourism). The people at the hotel were very friendly and approachable, as were the other staff. Breakfast was self service and there was plenty until greedy other guests got there. Would I stay at this hotel again? Deffo. Yes I Would.

Excellent hotel and services, terrible location
Getting there the first time was a problem because not only must one take one of the city's metro lines to the terminal station, but from there one must also take a bus that goes deeper in the neighbourhood to a closer location to the hotel (this was the problem, not knowing when to get off the bus, but got lucky with a local who was going the same way). Once there, we found a beautiful little hotel with splendid gardens around it, just situated among a whole lot of living buildings (blocks of flats, other houses). Hotel services were excellent, cleaning performed every day, staff very friendly, really, hands down the most charming little hotel we've stayed at. But tourists be warned about the location, especially if you don't bring your own car or rent one, it takes about an hour from city center to the hotel by means of public transportation.

My girlfriend and I wanted to explore Rome city over 5 days. The stay at the auroa garden hotel was very satisfactory. Staff were very polite and helpful, we only had breakfasts at the hotel but food was good. Our room was cleaned every day and beds made. Getting to and from the hotel once grtting to grips with the transport system was hassle free. We would highly recommend it if you are trying to keep costs down by not staying in Rome itself.

Decent small hotel in Rome
The hotel was fine, but it wasn't that easy to find at first. The hotel is essentially located in Rome's suburbs. Once you get to Ponte Mammolo tube station, you must take a bus 343 or 344 to Via Nicolai. We had to wait a while for the bus, and when it arrived it took us ages to get to our stop due to Rome's famous traffic. The room was clean, although the beds were a bit soft! The breakfast was ok, with the usual cereal, toast, pastries etc. Apart from the local restaurant which serves very good food, there didn't appear to be anywhere else to eat out nearby the hotel.

Thought that this was a very nice 3 star hotel. Found a little pizza place on next street that was the best we had while in Italy. Once you learn public transportation, you can get anywhere but gets rather crowded at peak hours. We learned which stops were best before it gets overcrowded so that you can get a seat. 30 minutes to middle of Rome and then can hook up to go anywhere else. If we were in Rome again there would be no hesitation to stay at the Auroro Gardens again.

Family Trop to Rome
While the hotel was not in the city centre, this was not a negative for us. We where sightseeing and getting back to the hotel before 9pm, sitting on the metro and bus was great to have a rest. We cannot comment about late night travel goor or bad. We where eating in the city centre before coming home but did go to the La Mucca Bischera to eat. The major complaint we have with the hotel is in regards to breakfast. If food was put out and was eaten before you got to the breakfast room the hotel did not put out any additional food. Stock up on snacks at SIR before you go into the city. The staff will tell you how to get there. If you are coming on the bus, you want to get off at the 1st stop past the englische hospital. You cannot miss it, it the big black building, and then with your map it is very easy to walk the rest of the distance. You cannot often hear announcements on the bus and it is very east to miss your stop. If you are on the 343 bus, and you go past a Lidl, you have gone to far. Just walk back to Via del Casale di San Basilo. If you are on bus 344 and pass the Hyundai car dealership, you have gone to far, get off the next stop and you can still get to the hotel by turning right at via Nomentana. Take the street beside the total garage and this will take you to the hotel entrance. I wish I had this information when we where travelling and would not have missed the stop. Dont forget to print out a map to get you that last little bit.

Aurora Garden Hotel
Aurora Garden Hotel is a pleasant hotel and the staff were keen to help in any way possible. Especially Daniele, he was so helpful in regards where to eat, finding out what time our airport transfer was due and general information. Great man! Rome is an absolutely beautiful city with so much to see! It was alot less expensive being out of the city centre, the local restaurants were reasonable. The only trouble is having to get either 2 buses, or 1 bus and 1 metro into the centre of Rome, so if you do not mind public transport you'll be ok! The one thing we were disappointed with was the airport transfer to the hotel when we first arrived. From getting off the plane to the airport to hotel shuttle bus arriving was 3 hours! Many people were not pleased! Breakfast was fine, it was continental (pastries, toast, cereal etc). So you have ups and downs for this hotel, it is much cheaper and so are the local restaurants, but you are about 40 minutes from the centre of Rome. El Gallo (which is a steak house but also does nice pizza) is about 5 minute walk from hotel and we found this was the nicest local restaurant we found. You are literally living with the locals so you will not find many tourists in the restaurants, so try to speak as much Italian as you can, you definitely could do with a phrase book!

In a beautiful location near the locals, maybe a little to far from central Rome, but if your used to travel like we were then it would be no problem. Breakfast was lovely although they don't serve warm food which was a let down. Tv, air con, good size bathroom. The hotel is very nice and the staff are quite friendly. However, the wireless internet access is not free and the location of the hotel is a good hour from Termini (city centre). Moreover, our room smelled like a toilet for some reason although the smell would disappear every now and then! The hotel wasn't brilliant, and the staff weren't particularly friendly. My room was near the top of the hotel and so hot, the air-conditioner wasn't cooling it effectively. I asked for a change of room, and even though they weren't full, they were very reluctant to swap my room. They eventually did, but made it clear I wasn't a favoured customer. In fact, my daughter was supposed to join me at the hotel but instead I booked her into a smaller hotel - Hotel Darrival, down the road. The prices were similar, but she had a much better experience - beautifully designed room, lovely staff, relaxing breakfasts. I'll be staying at Hotel Darrival next time I need to stay in that area.

The Hotel is Way outside the city limits!, If you want to save a little $ and don't mind giving up two hrs a day traveling to and from the city center then it's ok. Please be aware that the transportation past midnight is unreliable other than by taxi, so by 1030 pm you must start the process of heading back. The Hotel Staff is Extremely helpful, they go out of your way to point out the best way to get to the city center and anywhere else you want to go. They get my "thanks" for going above and beyond to help us out. The breakfast is similar to most small hotels in Italy and the cleanliness is fine. We observed none of the other issues reported by the previews reviews, and in fact saw the staff go out of their way to help a traveler with a shower issue.

The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of info on where to eat (which we ate at for the whole 3 nights of our stay, as it was lovely) and what transport we needed to take to get in to the centre of Rome. The hotel is a bus ride and then a metro ride away from the centre but after we had worked it out it was fine. The buses and metro run really frequently and it was only 11 euro for a 3 day pass which included both bus and metro. It was very clean, comfortable and the breakfast was nice. All in all very pleasent, the only thing I would say is it was hard to first find and it is out of town.

When we arrived late at night they don"t have anybody on the kitchen. They gave us Water & Bread we thought it was free but they let us pay for it. The other horrible thing is the Aircondition is not working either so we have to open the door to the verandah. We paid so much money & we get all this. Please don"t ceck in in this hotel you are just wasting your money. The free breakfast is okay but not as we expected. Nice Hotel a bit outside centre of Rome- great if you like travelling on foreign public transport
The Aurora Garden Hotel is a pleasant 3 star hotel outside of the centre of Rome. The only downside is requirement to travel on buses or buses and metro this can take around an hour to reach the attractions depending on time of day. That said the advantage is the cheaper cost and it is situated in a quite area so no hustle and bustle and traffic noise. 3 day travel passes cover buses and metro trains, (day passes are also available) and are reasonably priced- buses and metros very frequent The Hotel staff Daniele, Alex and Sammy were exceedingly helpful and spoke excellent English. The Hotel has maps and instructions as to which buses to get - only advice would be check the name of your stop as it can get a bit confusing when it gets dark. There are at least 3 restaurants nearby- My recommendation would be Relax where food was excellent and reasonably priced. Most of the attractions are easily reached from metro stations with a short walk. Back to the Hotel- I would definitely stay here again it was very clean and room was pleasant and beds comfortable. a complimentary breakfast was supplied nothing too fancy but adequate to start the day. The bar was comfortable - excellent coffee espresso and sambuca does it get any better. I also had my 10 year old daughter with me the staff were good with her and she really enjoyed her stay. All in all an excellent hotel if a little out of town Definitely use expedia shuttle service as alternatives can be costly

OK place on a Budget
The hotel was located on the outskirts of town in a semi rundown neighborhood, but it is secure inside a courtyard as is parking. The hotel is a little run down as well, but we were not there for the surroundings or esthetics. Rooms were small too. The breakfast was average. Internet and parking were extras. Two different staffs, AM and PM. The PM staff was definitely local and played the part. The AM staff was Euro standard. It is located 5 miles from downtown, but plan on 45 minutes by car, 10 minutes by moped.

Perfectly adequate
Not the best hotel I've ever stayed in however the staff were great and for the price it provided a good base for exploring Rome. A short walk to a bus stop followed by a trip on the underground took you right to the centre of Rome -all for 1 Euro
