This is a charming old building that has been beautifully refurbished in the center of Riobamba. We were in Riobamba to visit markets there and in the surrounding towns and villages, and we were easily able to get around by flagging any taxi and getting to where we wanted to go for $4 or less. There is a good restaurant right in the hotel, which is great if you've had a long day and don't want to go looking for food in the evening. Our room was a bit small compared to some others (the doors to all the rooms on the 2nd floor were open the day we arrived and we had a look around) but it did have a balcony. Nice big bathroom, and big bath sheets were changed daily. The beds had nice coverlets rather than those heavy wool blankets we've gotten in a lot of places and nice cotton sheets--another plus. On the down side, the breakfast buffet had never been completely set up by the time we went down for breakfast, and so we had to wait around 2 days out of 3. Not really a big deal, but if you advertise that breakfast starts at seven, it should be ready at seven. The family that runs the hotel is friendly and helpful, but maybe a bit unorganized at times.
