The service was top notch from the drinks to the food! Best food I have ever had at an all inclusive resort, highly recommend and planning on returning!

This adults only is connected to dreams which is the kids resort…. Same property! Also know that this is a wedding venue resort, I think there were at least three weddings going on this weekend so if you want peace and quiet this is not the resort to stay at, for the price I would stay somewhere else this resort is mediocre at best,

This was our 4th stay at a Secrets resort in 6 years. Our first time at PVR. The property is nice but is showing its age. i.e. peeling paint on the shower ceiling, sinks don’t drain well, a/c system loud. We have also noticed that since Hyatt bought Secrets some amenities have been eliminated. Small stuff but noticeable at what is supposed to be a 5 star property. Staff was excellent. Very friendly and professional. Property had weddings or large group events some of the evenings with loud music playing well past midnight. While the resort was nice and we enjoyed our stay we will look to stay at a different chain next year.

Seems like there were a lot of things broken of not working Items at the spa in the hydro therapy room. Outdoor jacuzzi to our master suite (which we paid an extra $1400) for was smoking and smelled like it was going to catch on fire. Overall it was not a pleasant experience.

This is a property that is in need of a facelift. It is now owned by Hyatt. This facelift will happen. We had wonderful service the first 2 days of our 4 day stay. The last 2 days not so good. It was overcast the third day which made the outside wait staff bunch together and not move. We only had 2 drinks all afternoon. The restaurants on the Secrets side are fine. Limited menu. We tried the ones on the Dream’s side. Food was definitely not up to high standards. Need more on Secrets side with higher level service. Was a good stay. Will wait until the upgrades are done to return.

We stayed at secret akumal twice and first time at PV location. Overall, the staff and property were great. Local area clean and walkable to shops. Some unfortunate items from our perspective: Vendors are allowed to approach guests at the beach and they do constantly; makes beach unenjoyable; you literally won’t finish a five minute conversation without being in rupted being asked if you want to buy a hat or a blanket; Entertainment compared to other secrets locations like the one mention that have a Polynesian theater was not as good. Less relaxing overall but might be for you - a lot of loud music and more rowdy guests; would’ve like it more when I was 28;

We just stayed a week and it was awesome! Hotel staff were very accommodating and the food is delicious. Only thing is the pools are a little murky. But our server by the pool, Junior, was amazing! Highly recommend and will be back!

First of all, we had to sit through a 30 minute presentation which we did not like. The drinks were very weak. The pools had black mold. The night show was shared with the family resort next-door. The VIP treatment that we received was a bottle of there red wine that you can get in their lobby. Our cleaning lady was fantastic. I think her name was Itzel.

The service was excellent, Ignacio y Abraham, our waiters, Tere jimmy angel Antonio in entertainment, Omar will answer questions in reception, Blanca in room service, the yoga instructor was outstanding Everybody did an excellent job on hurricane day- night they kept us safe. , They didn’t honor early check-in we got our room late after the check in time, no vip perks, I don’t know why they even bother to advertise that, unless you buy time share.? No turndown service. We had an excellent stay there.

We booked 4 nights at Secrets, and it just so happened that Hurricane Lidia hit on the 3rd day of our trip. The hotel staff were incredible. We’re from Houston, so we weren’t particularly concerned, but the staff were very diligent in making sure that the guests were still able to enjoy amenities (pool, beach, restaurants) up until the storm was actually hitting the coast, and even then they provided us with a boxed dinner in our rooms. The next morning, staff were out at 5am cleaning pools, picking up palm fronds, broken glass, etc. to ensure that the property was ready for use that day. Luckily minimal damage was done to the property. The staff that we spoke with most (Mario, Antonio, Adrian, etc.) were all so cheerful and really made the trip fantastic. We are already talking about returning next year with “I Survived Hurricane Lidia” t-shirts. I highly recommend.

Property was nice. But due to a hurricane we were told to stay inside the hotel room until the next day. We only got cold boxed meals, which I had to go ask front desk for it. The activities was closed for a day. We lost a day in that resort.

Property and rooms were gorgeous rooms. Mostly enjoyed pool. It was too humid to enjoy the Lobby bars and beautiful lookout to the ocean. This property needs big fans during summer months, would greatly help the airflow.

We had a fabulous time, beautiful property awesome food and the wait staff was on spot. We had incident, a repair guy come into our room unannounced at 9:51 pm looking for his tools he thought he let the day before when he fixed a latch and replaced our fridge. We had just gotten out of shower and were very surprised and shocked., management was very difficult to deal with they just wanted to say sorry and move us to same type room no upgrade we didn't want to pack up so they finally offered us two 25 minute massages after my husband threw a fit. Felt unsafe at that point in our room, made the best of it everything else was fabulous.

Had a great time but there was a few turn offs, the main one was the AC in room was set and would not let you go below 26 Celsius/ 78 degrees fahrenheit. The common areas didn't have any fans for air circulation, same exact menus at a few of the restaurants, Japanese Hibachi grill was very disappointing with extremely dry steak and no options for how you would like cooked. Drinks where good and strong but got somthing diffrent every time ordering the same cocktail (spicey Marg). Staff was super friendly.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Secrets Vallarta resort that had garnered some positive reviews in the past. However, my experience left much to be desired. The resort was clearly showing its age, with poorly maintained rooms and a front desk staff that seemed less than willing to assist. The first impression upon arriving at the resort was good. The exterior of the building looked a bit outdated. As I entered the lobby, it was apparent that this place had seen better days. Arrived around 1pm, however, the front desk was not willing to provide an early check in. My family and I had to wait 2 hours. The resort lobby had no AC so the weather was hot and extremely humid. The problems continued when I reached my room (3rd) Expect to hear noise from the pool if your room is on floor 1-6. The furnishing appeared old, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. It was evident that the room had not received the attention it needed to maintain a comfortable atmosphere. Upon discovering these issues, I asked to be switched and I got a room on the 6th floor. This room shared the same concerns as the previous, but even worse. The sink smelled like sewage. Nasty smell upon entering. I approached the front desk staff in the hope of switching to a different room. My request was met with resistance. The staff was uninterested and appeared inconvenienced by my request. I was told I needed to wait another 2 hours for another room to be available. Wish I could provide more

There are pros and cons to this resort Pros: The Staff: All the staff are eager to please, friendly and helpful. We were in the preferred section. Our Butler, Carlos Miranda and his helper, Jose Beccera, helped rescue what could have been a very bad week. The food was good at the restaurants and the Cabana (Bali Bed) that we rented was very nice. The waiters that took care of us at the Cabana were also very helpful and there when we needed them. The Grounds: the landscaping was very nice and kept up. It was a pleasure to walk around. Cons: When we arrived, we were sent to a sub standard room with a stone walled balcony. We could not believe that it was in the Preferred section. You couldn't see from the balcony without standing up. After quite a hassle, we were finally placed on the Preferred floor (15). The balcony was a normal, see through balcony, although small and narrow. The room was out dated with dingy pink curtains separating the bathroom from the bedroom. All the furniture looked dingy and grey. It was not cheerful or good looking in any way. One odd thing: There was a girl walking around with a hawk on her arm, but she never did anything with the hawk. I have been at resorts that have little impromptu shows with a hawk and handler.
