The hotel room is clean and spacious. It has very high ceiling and very hard floor. The power outlets and switches are located at awkward locations. The whole hotel has almost no deco, with clean flat white walls and simple furniture, a reminder of its gloomy past as a communist prison for 39 years. The long corridor are covered by a parade of white chiffon fabric that gives an eerie feeling. The deep smell of soap/cleaner reminds one of a hospital.
I booked two nights of non-refundable stay at the hotel. due to the flight delay, I arrived at the hotel the next day at ~8am, but was told that my stay was cancelled because I didn't show up the day before. So they pocketed my two nights of money, and refused me to stay the remaining nights. I am fine that they took my two nights of payment because I was late, but refusing me to stay for the second night that I have already paid? And the cancellation of my booking was neither warned before nor notified afterwards. Imagine how shocked and helpless someone feels after a long flight to a completely new country and was turn down by a place that was supposed to provide hospitality. If there is any remote justification for such an unfair and immoral practice, it could be for efficient use of rooms, but this hotel clearly had rooms available. Actually they sold me the same night that they refused me, making a nice three nights of profit for one night of stay.
To be fair, receptionists are mostly friendly and helpful.
