Good room, good view, great pool

Posted 20-Sep-2014
I stayed three nights here. Memorable view of the bay, harbor and town from my room; large and handsome indoor pool always empty when I went there; very comfortable and furniture. Drawbacks are (a) poor choice and staff at breakfast (b) one unhelpful reception staff member (c) the obtrusive ugliness of the hotel exterior - chunky white and green, visible all over town like a sore thumb.

The location makes hotel worth choosing.

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Good location. Within walking distance of many restaurants, shops and the waterfront. Across the street from Portland's beautiful Art Museum. The staff was friendly and efficient. The carpet in our room needs to be replaced. It was the first thing I noticed when I opened the door to the room. Otherwise, the room was adequate and clean. There is a microwave oven and a small refrigerator in the room which came in handy. There was free coffee in the lobby but it was not good at all. There are lots of coffee shops nearby, though.

Good Location - Walking a pleasure

Posted 1-Sep-2014
Pros: Good location
Cons: Ate breakfast one morning at the hotel but it took much too long to get served a bowl of fruit and a waffle.
Stayed for two nights. The hotel is very clean and in a nice location. Walked to Old Port both days. Took a ferry ride out to Peaks Island but was disappointed by the island itself. Not worth the trip but the ferry ride was nice. A great place to eat was at FlatBread Pizza. All in all it was a nice couple of days but not sure it is something I will do again anytime soon. Loads of eating places, little shops and drinking holes other than that not much else to do.

Can't recommend

Posted 23-Aug-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Wifi
Location: Walkable to everything,
Pros: Good location, clean room, shuttle service Cons: Wifi not working entire time and staff unhelpful about it (told US to call I.T.) Hallway smelled like sewage, rooms nothing great for the cost. Had to pay to park.

Smoking floor

Posted 23-Aug-2014
I had booked a non smoking room. When we got there all they had was smoking rooms. The whole third floor is smoking. We found it to much of a pain to get a refund due to booking through a third party.the staff were not helpful and later denied things they said.we had to take the room due to getting late and tired. But never again will I stay there.

My stay

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Pros: Friendly & prompt service along with the very clean rooms
Cons: The restaurant needs help
Location: The Old Port
Nice place to stay. Easy walking distance to the Old Port and Waterfront. Rooms were clean. Staff was extremely friendly. Great to be greeted with a sincere smile while checking in. The only down side was the restaurant. Slow service and very un-organized. But you are in Portland with plenty of great food options. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Too Expensive

Posted 4-Aug-2014
It was a nice hotel but thought too expensive and still had to pay for a parking space. It was nice that it was close to alot of the restaurants and bars though.

Cleanliness not next to godliness

Posted 22-Jul-2014
The hotel room was spacious, but the bathroom was extremely small. I would have preferred a smaller room for a larger bathroom that you could actually turn around in. Overall, the hotel was okay. It was walking distance to downtown, and if you prefer not to walk, you could take a 2-3 minute free shuttle ride. The front desk staff was friendly, but the cleaning staff was disappointing. There was crud in the sink. We tried to clean it with an extra wash cloth but it was caked on. There was residue in the toilet which grossed me out. I just tried not to look. We came back to the room once after it had been cleaned and our blanket from the bed was sprawled on the floor. Weird. I could tell that the tub was not cleaned because the water pooled around your feet as you showered because it did not drain quickly enough and it left a ring around the tub. I had to get out of the shower to wash my feet. The next time we visit Portland we will probably stay at a downtown hotel for the convenience. Hopefully we will find a hotel that places more of an emphasis on cleanliness so that we can be a bit more comfortable.

Nice hotel, not wheelchair friendly if it rains

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Entrance is niot wheelchair friendly. There is a step to get in. There is a ramp that is to the side of the main entrance, if it's raining the person in the chair and whomever is pushing would get soaked. The hotel staff wasn't receptive to ask management to put a small ramp. Other than that, it was a good stay. Shuttle service was excellent, rooms were comfortable and clean.
