“very impressed”
First class hotel!! Everything within walking distance. Parked the car for four days and enjoyed all the sights of Ottawa.
“Hope To Be Back Soon”
Great Location, Great Hotel Character, Great Place to Stay.
“Ottawa's Best”
We throughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful and historic hotel. It is close to everything.
“first class service”
I was pleasantly surprised by the chateau after reading some tripadvisor reviews. The hotel is almost 100 years old, so you will find some paint or wallpaper peels but only if looking hard. The service from valet to check-in to concierge to leaving was first class. The rooms were spacious, with 2 bathrooms in ours,( great with the kids). Great central location and overall ambience. Would definitely go back.
“Excellent condition and a real piece of Canadiana”
Beautiful Hotel. Excellent location. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Truly upscale with class and dignity. The walls are so solid that they could withstand cannon attacks let alone noise. Just filled with interesting bits of Canadian history and very impressive and famous Yosef Karsh photos in the lounge. If you can get a good price, take it!
“Well Done”
Great service, excellent food, world class concierge, beautiful inside and out, and within walking distance of everything. Other than a stiff mattress, the perfect hotel.
“Class Hotel”
Stayed for 2 nights over March Break. Great location and classy hotel. Kids next door were quite noisy but aside from that a great stay. Buffet breakfast was amazing but expensive.
“Great location”
A really terrific experience staying in this historic place in the centre of the city.
“Beautiful hotel, great access to Rideau Canal”
An elegant and stately hotel, we loved the pampering. Our 6-year old LOVED watching the boats on the canal.
“Beautiful old building!”
We stayed in a deluxe room and asked for a quiet room with a view. We got room 500. This is one of the remodeled rooms and it was in perfect condition (new TV, bathroom fixtures, etc.). It has large sitting area with sofa, chair, coffee table and reading lamp, plus a work desk in the turret. It was in the back corner with windows facing in two directions. We could watch the boats going up and down the locks of the Rideau Canal, see the peace tower and watch the parade for the changing of the guard from one side of the room. We could also see the Ottawa river and Hull from the other side. The turret had three small windows looking out both ways. The maid refilled the coffee and real creamers(in the bar fridge) every day. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Had dinner at La Terrace and it was very good. Hotel is a short walk to everywhere, Byward market for breakfast and dinner, parliament buildings, Sparks street for dinner, etc. The building itself is fun to explore, full of fancy columns, ornate ceilings, brass elevator doors and a pool with large balcony.
