Oakville

Travel Guide
Oakville which includes a park, a river or creek and boating
Along with its fascinating heritage and stunning location, this waterside city has superb shopping opportunities and a wealth of outdoor activities.

Descend forest trails on foot or by bike and amble through pretty gardens in Oakville. Swim and play golf or pass luxurious days on the beach and in fashionable cafés.

Start your trip with a look into the town’s past at Oakville Museum. Once home to the Chisholm family, this grand manor now holds exhibits of precious artifacts and rare 19th-century photographs.

Wander through the bright museum gardens or continue south along the water’s edge to Bronte Harbour. Established in 1834 for commercial use, it now moors mostly yachts and motorboats. Nap in the sun on the secluded beach nearby or enjoy coffee and a pastry at one of the modern bistros in the area.

Bronte Village is known for its selection of intriguing one-off shops. Find a greater selection of stores in Downtown Oakville between the main harbor and Alan Street to the north. Have your soul and body cleansed with the help of a health and wellbeing expert or purchase unique handmade rugs and wood furniture at boutique home décor outlets.

Explore some of the 3,510 acres (1,420 hectares) of parkland and 190 miles (300 kilometers) of public trails in Oakville. Ride past dusty rock gardens and along leafy causeways on a mountain bike or set off on foot in search of hidden waterways and vivid flowerbeds.

During the summer, cool off at one of six outdoor swimming pools around the town and dodge the spray from spouting splash pads. Golfers meanwhile are in for a treat with a number of courses, including Glen Abbey Golf Course set along tranquil Sixteen Mile Creek not far from the middle of town. The Canadian Masters has been held here on multiple occasions. After a round on this special course, investigate the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, where great players and course builders are celebrated.

Oakville is on the western tip of Lake Ontario, a 30-minute drive southwest of Toronto. Find plenty of hotels and houses to rent and restaurants to suit all palates and budgets.

A lovely place and the Oakville Mall is near and an assortment of restaurants as well. Right next to the QEW highway, so access to anything going East or West. The hotel was easy to find, can be seen from the highway.
