Beautiful Location But Home Has Major Shortcomings!
We are 3 couples in their 70's. House looked perfect for us (3 bedrooms and 3 fully functional bathrooms (one downstairs). Beautiful view & very spacious. Potential of home is far from realized due to numerous issues, some large and many annoying inadequacies. The largest issue was that the downstairs toilet was out of service for our entire stay & repeated attempts to get Vacasa to fix it were ignored! Vacasa's response was we referred it to "local management" who never contacted us or sent repairman. Note: We learned from reviews that the toilet had been out of order since April '23 & rather than fix it Vacasa posted a sign on the broken toilet saying broken...sorry for inconvenience. Negligent Misrepresentation of property (3 full bathrooms??) Some of us have mobility issues & had we known the downstairs toilet was broken (leaving only upstairs bathroom) we would have never booked this property! Other issues with the house were: - Inadequate seating for 6 in the family room & kitchen; - No closet or storage for clothes/luggage in one bedroom; - No mirrors in two bedrooms, not enough hangars or kitchen utensils; - Broken toilet seat in Master Bedroom; - No welcome packet to guide visitors re appliances, etc. We have stayed in several VRBO properties and have never had a management company so blatantly fail to give answers or even a local person to contact. BEWARE about Vacasa managed properties!!! They're the worst we've encountered with VRBO.

Shabby
This is the first time I have written a review about a VRBO we have stayed at over the years because I was so disappointed. To begin with, there was nothing welcoming upon arrival and no guest book, only a notice indicating to leave by 10:00 am. Absolutely nothing was available for convenience like salt & pepper, or other spices. It was completely barren of things that most people leave behind after having to go to grocery store. This house needs so much TLC. The place was clean but seemed somewhat worn. Tax records indicated it was built in 1990. Carpets appeared to be original and were spotty here and there. Wooden entry flooring and stairs were scuffed and worn. All 10 dining chairs had loose slip covers on them. I knew about the lack of window shades but wasn't that unhappy about it until one morning at 4:10 am when woken by sun in my face (longest days in June). Some shade hardware was in place in the master bedroom, but no shades except one narrow one that wouldn't roll properly. The 1st floor toilet leaked while we were there and the handyman could not fix it, so had to turn it off so as not to fill the drain field. We had to climb stairs to go to the bathroom for 3 days. The slightly circular stairs were a bit slippery (known) but could be easily fixed with non-slip tread or carpeting. And there was no handrail on the wall side where the steps were wider. In the back yard, the bench facing the water was covered in lichens that needs to be sanded off.

Horrible condition
The house was filthy - Dead flies in rooms on carpeting. Stained carpets particularly a very large urine stain in main bedroom. Pink mold in upstairs guest bathroom. Toilets smelled bad and are very dirty. Green moss on patio furniture. Couches in family room had dried spills all over arm rests. We did a lot of cleaning when we arrived. Side note* Broken toilet on main floor making it necessary to go upstairs to use the toilet. Hard for one of us with mobility issues. Mattresses have dips in the center of them making it hard to be in either side. Upstairs tub does not drain when showering you stand in dirty water. So gross. Very disappointing.

Weekend with family
This is a lovely home with a beautiful peaceful setting. The yard was beautiful and freshly mowed. The furniture/beds were comfortable and the appliances were all nice and new. But I don’t know how often the owner stays there or reads the reviews because it is missing those touches that make it a fabulous stay. We had to go on a hunt for towels as they are not stored in each bathroom. And there were only two washcloths to be found =/ The blinds were still not fixed in the master bedroom which is more of a light issue than it is a privacy issue. Sunlight in the morning tends to wake one up. There must be something going on with the hot water because we too had issues with it and had to call property managers (who also brought us washcloths…thank you). We found the kitchen to be seriously lacking. Not enough cookware/bakeware to prepare meals, or enough dishes/cups to make it meal to meal without washing dishes. But the most disturbing thing found were hairs and straw wrappers in the beds. Makes you question if the sheets were actually clean. The house seemed clean but when there is obvious orange grime on the tile it too makes you wonder. Watch your step on the stairs, as they have funky angles and were slippery in stocking feet. My son fell while carrying his baby but was able to catch himself…thank goodness. Maybe a carpet runner would be safer than bare wood? And yes, there is a trail to the beach but it is extremely steep.

A very nice property with some quirks
This home has a great room layout and offers a very nice view of Puget Sound. The property is flanked by trees that isolate it from the neighbors, providing excellent privacy. There is a large flat area behind the house, above the shoreline, with a firepit set up on one side. There is also an uncovered terrace with a very nice grill. It is possible to descend to the shoreline through the trees, but the descent is very steep and should only be attempted in dry weather, if at all. The kitchen is pretty well furnished, but we did miss having a potato masher. The two large beds use some remote-controlled mattresses, but I only realized this at the end of our stay, because the controls did not have any instructions and I took them for digital clocks. The master bedroom and bath do not have blinds for their windows, which means you can be seen from the rear lawn if you're in front of them. There are thermostats in each room, but the ones that seem to matter are the 3 thermostats in the three main rooms on the first floor - setting the thermostats on the upper floor alone did not help keep the upstairs rooms warm over the night. The closest access to the shoreline that we found was down Green Road, at Davis landing. About 1min by car or 20min by foot. For shopping, you can drive to Oak Harbor. There are many things to like about this property, but it would also benefit from some small improvements: an awning to cover the grill, so it could be used when it's raining; instructions for setting the thermostats and mattresses; blinds for the master bedroom and bath windows.

Property was perfect. Only 2 issues. The water heater temp was set to 98 so the maintenance man adjusted it quickly. Master bedroom and bath really needs to replace roller window shades that do not work and doesn’t allow privacy.

Nice island retreat
Great stay with family including 2 small kids, who enjoyed the big yard, swing and fire pit. Great views over the water and to Mt Baker in distance. Saw deer and bald eagles regularly. House is in good shape, lots is space, comfortable bedding. Master bedroom is very spacious with big bathroom and walk in closet. We had some maintenance issues that were promptly addressed by Vacasa. Only small gripes are the blinds in master bedroom were not good quality and didn't block much light, no basic condiments in kitchen, and not a huge fan of glass top range. Very quiet location but only 15 minute drive to Oak Harbor with good supermarkets and restaurants and lots to do on Whidbey Island.

Beautiful house, beautiful view
The house easily accomdated four of us. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen, which we used every night for meals, was well appointed. One problem: the coffee maker did not work. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay and I would highly recommend the property for the fabulous view, privacy and outdoor (and indoor!) seating. There should be a warning that the beach path should be avoided by anyone except the very fit and those willing to get muddy. It was an adventure getting back up the path. We had a great time, though, and would return when we next visit Whidbey. One other thing, I contacted the owners twice via messaging and never received a response. Thanks for a great stay.
