Beautiful building with the charm of a bygone era.

We had a four night stay in a junior sweet which cost just short of £ 2,000. I have to say for that money I didn't expect to see mould in the tile grouting in the shower. It's only a small thing but there is a fine line between "Shabby chic" and just shabby. This didn't spoil our stay and the staff were fantastic. We loved Nice but future visits would be to a different hotel.

Not too my taste

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Put in a room over the bar for the first night, could not sleep so asked to be moved , which they did happily . The concierge took me to our new room and said it always happened when people stayed in our original room. Drinks In bar very expensive and refused to give us nibbles as it was 'too late'. Wifi was down for a day.

Exceptional hotel on the Promenade des Anglais

Posted 11-Apr-2014
A wonderful hotel with exceptional staff, where you are made to feel welcome before you even set foot in the door. Cannot fault the service we experienced in any part of the hotel (although things can get a bit hectic during breakfast! :) ). Highly recommended.

Old style elegance on the beach

What a beautiful hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the artwork throughout the hotel was enjoyable and fun. We were upgraded to a junior suite overlooking the sea and it was wonderful. One issue; the hotel bar is very comfortable, but too expensive. We each had a drink and the final bill was $47. This included a 10% tax that we were not told was not included in the listed price.

THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN

Posted 28-Jan-2014
Pros: The décor, the staff, the dining, the bar, the rooms, the location. Everything perfect.
Cons: Sell this hotel more on the website!! It is far better when you step inside the atrium/rooms than the website suggests! It is stunning!
Location: Located on the Promenade, it is walking distance to everywhere you would need to go. Only a few km from the airport too.
This hotel seems very imposing from the outside, but the second you step inside you are transformed into another world. The staff are so welcoming and the entrance and atrium are simply stunning. This hotel has so much character and the rooms are overwhelming. The décor and design of this hotel could not be beaten anywhere. The rooms were quiet, spacious and luxurious. The staff could not have done more to make our stay outstanding.

lovely view from the hotel bedroom.

Pros: Not a lot
Cons: Almost everything
Location: good location, beach across the road, museum next door, close to the centre of town with shops etc.
We booked dinner in the Brasserie restaurant of the hotel. we ordered a Pasta followed by two different fish dishes. The Pasta arrived cold and in a very watery tomato sauce, it was returned to the kitchen to be re-heated. Our main course arrived some 45 minutes later, mine was again cold and my wife's fish was only half cooked. Not a good experience in such a well known hotel! Having complained to the duty manager of the hotel all we were told was "sorry, and we won't be charging you for the meal" (you bet I won't be charged for the meal!). The hotel advertise "Free Wi fi in the room" but it did not work and reception told us that the signal is very poor in the room but better in the business centre on the first floor! We do not recommend this hotel and shall not be returning!
