In discesa

Posted 27-Jan-2015

Posted 11-Jan-2015
Pros: Größe der Zimmer; stilvolle Einrichtung; großzügige Nebenräume und Aufenthaltsräume; Lage; sehr gute Betten;

Great but a little tired

Posted 20-Dec-2014
Pros: The location on the water
Cons: The finishes
Location: Near old town Nice. Much to do and see but frankly going to Antibe and Eze are better choices. Monaco is also a wonderful day trip.
The Negresco is a great hotel, no question. However, it is a little tired and in need of a renovation. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but the restrooms were last upgraded in the 70's and while the finishes are interesting and fun, they are heavily worn and need to be replaced with modern bathroom fixtures and are in need of a more thorough cleaning. The hotel is full of art and some of it is very significant and much of it is much less significant, to be polite. One will find 16th century masterpieces next to lucite tables right out of a cheap 70's movie. In addition, the carpet design on all floor common areas is very busy and does not complement any of the other finishes. That said, this is one of the best hotels in Nice which makes one think they should simply stay up the road in cannes.

La storia

Posted 15-Dec-2014
Pros: Architettura
Cons: bagno

Room With a View

Posted 25-Nov-2014
Pros: I loved the character of the place, the natural character as it is an older hotel and the character that has been added through artwork and the staff.
Cons: Shower door...already mentioned.
Location: Already mentioned, location was great, not too far from anything including the airport and walking distance to most places.
I was only at the hotel for 3 nights while I attended a conference. Overall the stay was fantastic. It was a perfect location, close enough to the conference (at the Acropolis) and close enough to anything else I would need. I liked the art work and the character of the place. The staff were all polite and welcoming with great customer service skills. The room was bigger than I expected for France and very comfortable except that it never seemed warm enough for my liking (in fairness I am a wimp). I absolutely loved the bathroom and the bathtub. The only downfall was the way the shower door worked (or didn't) meant water did not stay in the shower resulting in a fair bit of water on the bathroom floor.

Service and staff unequaled

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: The staff, of course. The view of palm trees and the sea from our balcony. Our nightcap in the wood paneled bar each evening.
Cons: Anything that could have been improved was done long ago.
Location: Massena Museum is next door. 5 minute drive from old Nice. 30 minutes from lovely hill towns. Pedestrian promenade and sea across the street.
This beautiful, iconic hotel across the promenade from the Mediterranean does not disappoint. It's ornate beauty, extensive art collection, grand salons, Michelin rated restaurant are but side trappings compared to the lovely, well-trained staff that made our visit a joy. Thank you to them! We are not high-maintenance travelers, but when we did need help or advice, it was eagerly forth-coming.
