Cheap and close to Newport

Posted 26-Jul-2015
Staff is great! We arrived early (at 1pm) and they were quick to accommodate us and check us in to a room. They answered any questions we had. However the hotel is very old and needs major renovating!!! We traveled with our 3 month old and we were put on the second gloor. There was no elevator so we had to carry the carriage up the stairs.

Very nice place for anyone

Posted 26-Jun-2015
Pros: Clean rooms and the friendly staff.
Location: There are many restaurants nearby. Highways are also very close.
My family enjoyed our stay. The staff are very nice and friendly. Our room was clean and the price was reasonable. The room was quiet and the a/c worked well. What more could you ask for?! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Cons: Rooms were a bit dated, breakfasts nothing to shout about.
Location: Takeaways, diners and supermarkets all close by.
Pro's :-The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, a very useful and cheap launderette at the end of the corridor. The pool looked clean and even though we didn't use it. Close to several takeaways. Newport Creamery just up the road - great breakfasts and brilliant ice-creams!! Cons:- Rooms were a bit dated, breakfasts nothing to shout about. The weather wasn't brilliant but you can't blame the hotel for that. Overall I'd recommend this hotel

Return to the area:

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Pros: Location, location, location, PRICE. ,the girl on the desk when I checked in, the call (way to soon after we checked in) to ask about our room,
Cons: Keep the door locked and force even workers to use a key
Location: Great location, we ate lobster, lobster, lobster
Let's talk the HOJO, we have stayed many times at this hotel and this time we even were upgraded but two things kept this from being great. The room next to us(we were in 134) had the toliet running constantly day and night there was a leak with the flapper in the toliet that caused this noise and the refrigerator ran constantly with a high pitched noise. We were tempted to request a change in room but since this was a short two night stay we thought we would just let it go. I am sorry we did not say something. Neither of us had a good nights sleep either day. The facility has been someone upgraded but having the other hotel so close when we did sit out there was noise that was not enjoyable. I do believe that this hotel needs to make the choice to provide a full breakfast, your competitors are doing it, make the space and provide this service. We so enjoy visiting the area and saw many new streets in Newport that we somehow missed before, we found the Cluny school, a hidden treasure, we reviewed the mansions, we listen to TAPS just before dark so there were many great highlights. We both agreed we will return to the area and most likely stay at your facility again. I appreciate you reviewing my comments and hope that you can understand why I shared them.

Older but comfortable

Posted 11-Jun-2015
I didn't realize we were booking a motor lodge style hotel, so I was surprised. However my husband enjoyed sitting on porch, and it made moving the luggage easy. The bed was quite comfortable. We enjoyed the indoor pool since it rained one of the days of our trip. We also liked the pinball machine, the ice cream dispenser, complimentary bottled water and cookies. Having a fridge and microwave in the room was nice. The breakfast wasn't really much of a breakfast, just some packaged muffins and fruit. We ended up eating at dunkin doughnuts. The hotel is located around a bunch of shopping centers, so not the prettiest place, but a good deal, quick drive to beaches and everything, and the indoor pool for a rainy day. For a vintage motor lodge, we actually had a great stay and would reccomend.

Convenient, very nice, and affordable!

Posted 4-Jun-2015
This hotel is a great choice for a great price. Very large clean room, comfy beds! Nice balcony. Restaurants in the area (we ate at the Blue Plate Diner for breakfast which was very good and the dinner menu looked great as well!). Easy drive to Newport and Jamestown. It's not fancy but has well appointed rooms with plenty of room. And we're kinda picky! If you don't need to be on the water and just want a place to stay that's close to everything, this is a great place. Just a side note, 10 minutes after we checked in, the front desk called to ensure we were happy with our room...never had that happen before and we travel quite a bit! You can't go wrong here.
