All the times that I have stayed in NewBerry this is by far the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. There were hairs on top of the sheets after pulling back the top blanket, shower drain trim was coated in dirt and grime, bathroom floor was dirty with piles of dust behind door along with the front of tub. Not to mention all the holes that were patched, yet not painted along with molding around the bathroom door busted. Only one small trash can for the entire room. I would not stay here again.

The staff here is what made our stay such a pleasure. Some of the other guests we met each day in the lobby at bkfst were smelly and just trashy. Some teenager came down in her nightie w short robe wide open. She was there w mom n siblings. They rarely ate anything just came down to sit in lobby. Ugh. Took up space and were unkempt to say the least. A bit unappetizing. However, the rooms were clean and we did have to switch rooms in middle of r stay due to super thin walls on an adjoining rm (nobody’s fault) n Becky was on it. They were very kind and helpful w everything. Bkfst was good n hot daily which saved us time. The second room we stayed in the beds were super comfortable. Great place. Great staff. Very affordable.

Great hotel for a stay in the UP
The perfect place for a visit to Michigan's UP. The Pleasant Moose Lodge in Newberry was centrally located for our trip. Nice rooms, clean and extremely nice, helpful staff. Drawbacks- no elevator, free wifi but limited cell service in the UP and in need of new mattresses. Ours was too soft. Breakfast was good with homemade blueberry compote for our waffles, toast or biscuits. Even had popcorn and ice cream bars free everyday. We were an hour away from Pictured Rocks, Tahquemenon Falls, the Great Lakes Shipwreck museum and several other popular attractions. Stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay again.

The staff was wonderful! They were friendly and accommodating! They are what makes the moos so pleasant! The facilities are ok but the staff make up for what up for it. There is, always fresh popcorn ready and sweets and coffee for snacking. Highly recommend!

We really liked our stay here. There were just a couple of nuisance issues that keep it from a 5 star. 1) The lobby and hallways weren't air conditioned on two of the hottest days of the year. The rooms were good but the rest was miserable. 2) Our bathroom light was having ballast issues. Turn it on and it was like a haunted house light. It would buzz and flicker, but once it was on, it was good. 3) I had issues with several plugs not working. Might have been just me tho .. not sure. I will say tho that we'd stay here again if coming back to this area.

The staff was absolutely wonderful and very helpful. Rooms are good size although older facility. Have free donuts and popcorn all day. Breakfast looked good and our friends enjoyed it. Quiet rooms. Good location for the places we were visiting. Stayed 4 nights. Would definitely return and recommend.

The staff was very friendly and hotel was clean. It was conveniently located near Tahquamanon falls, Oswald’s Bear Ranch, paradise and White Fish point. Breakfast was better than expected. The beds were comfy. We stayed 4 nights! The hotel is older but we enjoyed our stay. There is a nice indoor play area for kids. You can tell they care and are doing their best to give guests a positive experience.

Everyone at the lodge were wonderful. My ONLY reason for less than 5 stars is the stucco around the windows is separating, the rooms need more outlets or even updated because they cannot hold a charger cord nor the TV box cord but we made due, the bathroom light is an old florescent that flickered 6 or 7 times before it started on. The rooms were clean, the sheets and beds were comfortable, the breakfast was good but it was the exact same everyday for our entire visit... It was good just a little monotonous. Would I stay there again? ABSOLUTELY!

Staff was friendly. Bed was uncomfortable (foam is hot and unsupportive, pad under fitted sheet bunches up every time you roll over). Exterior doors should be locked and only open with a key card, but they are left unlocked so anyone can walk in, which is a safety issue.

Rooms are great. We had booked a room with 2 queen beds and were presently surprised with the rooms. Not many dining options close to the hotel. We reached around 8 and most places were already closed.

We enjoyed our 2 day stay at the Pleasant Moose. Very committed staff and friendly. Cydney was delightful. Great breakfast and quiet. Very convenient area. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Newberry. Have stayed at 3 other motels in the area and Pleasant Moose is now our favorite.

First room was dirty, horribly stained floors and dirty sink with paint chips all over it. Second room they tried to give us after not accepting the first room was bad also. Second room had pillows on the floor, bed was not fully made and items on the tv stand. We asked for our money back and then wasted two hours looking for another hotel.

This just doesn't sound like our hotel at all. I am so sorry you encountered something like this anywhere! We are very thorough with our cleaning and rooms are checked after our staff cleans them. Very good! Only thing missing at this property is an elevator. You’ll have to lift all the baggage to your climbing 2 flights of stairs. We had like 7-8 bags and had to lift them all. Other than this the property is good. The staff is good and friendly too.

Could use some updating and air conditioning in the main checkin-breakfast area. Very stuffy in there. Didn’t think they had water for breakfast but later found out it was in a cooler not near the food with no signs. Also some stains on our pillow cases and sheets. Hotel did have a not so pleasant smell. Wouldn’t stay here again. Staff was friendly.

Amazing Staff/Best breakfast in town
The staff and this hotel and all the personal touches made it feel very homey. The hotel itself could use some updating but the staff was amazing. Very friendly and personable and extremely helpful when we pulled into town and our car broke down. This hotel has the best breakfast I have ever experienced. Would definitely stay here again or refer to our family and friends.

We had a great stay. Deb and her gang were great. Made us feel at home. Had a great breakfast every morning. And fresh popped popcorn all day. And even icecream in the evening's. During our stay the a/c quit in one of the rooms. They got right on it and when it couldn't be fixed, they got us into another room with no problems. Rooms were clean and well stocked with linens. Would definitely stay there again. Many sites we wanted to see were just an hours drive. Thanks for making our vacation to the UP a great one.
