horrible area overpriced motel not worth more than 90bucks never book again this place sucked it was in a dangerous place not safe to walk around at all in public very scary i would never pay to waste so much money on this garbage dump there were bugs in the room

The hotel is undergoing construction, so the overall condition is that it looks downshodden in some areas, and perfectly fine in others. The area around the hotel is busy, and there are several homeless people around, but none of that impacts the hotel itself. It's pretty quiet, clean in the room, and the staff is great. Comfortable pillows in the rooms too!

The room was roomy and relatively quiet, even though we were near the elevator. The breakfast was good with fresh fruit available. The only downside was construction / painting was going on so our window was covered with plastic. Noise was not a factor at all. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was also next to Kungfu boba which was delicious and cheap. Id recommend people to stay here if you're looking for a budget hotel in San Diego.

There was a smell in the room and we were unable to open the window for ventilation. The desk clerk we checked with about it said they lock all the windows shut so people can’t dive out. Seems to me fixing it so it would only open 4” or so would be safe.

Although this was under construction, it was quiet, service was great, breakfast was hot, fresh and different selections each day. Rooms were brand new and very decent. Bed, pillows are extremely comfortable! Area is close to everything around (e.g. restaurants, Starbucks and more).

Construction in effect
Working in construction, I wasn't thrilled to arrive at a hotel room engulfed in construction activity. The scent of fresh paint, tarps, and plastic from unfinished walls made the space feel suffocating, especially with the windows covered. I wish HOTELS.COM should warn customers about the holtel being under construction. I would of not of chosen this place.

I must compliment Diego, night clerk, who went above and beyond when I was locked out of my room because the little metal security piece slipped into "locked" when I closed my door. He miraculously made a device to slide into the door and flip the latch. I felt less stupid because of his calm demeanor.

It was hard to rate this hotel because it was under renovations. Our accommodations were excellent. The breakfast everyday was delicious and a good variety between hot and cold options. The staff were all excellent, courteous and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Hotel was under renovation, which we did not know prior to booking. Early check in was not available. Rooms were very clean and the Continental breakfast was good.

Great Room, breakfast so-so
Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the Holiday Inn. It was going through a renovation at the time, but noise was at a minimum so it wasn't an issue. Breakfast to me was Ok, my wife loved the eggs, she stated the sausage was great the first day but tasted different next day, my sone liked the biscuits and gravy. As a vegan i was disappointed with my choices, it was either dry cereal are bread with PB&J. The bagels were not good and some were old and hard. Fruit was very small apples and oranges that didn't look appetizing. I wish they could get some small plant based milk for cereal but that happens sometimes.Other then the breakfast our stay was pleasurable
