Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
Stayed here for one night during a family road trip. There are no elevators. My niece looked at the pool and immediately decided against taking a swim because there was mold growing in it.
Upon entering the room, we were hit by a very chemical-like smell, akin to what you would find walking into a hair salon. One of the comforters had what looked like cookie or bread crumbs and spare change all over it. The bathroom walls were visibly filthy. There was no hot water, only lukewarm.
The following morning for breakfast, the food was practically inedible. The sausage was the one thing that tasted decent. Waffle batter was watery and produced hollow waffles. Gravy was the consistency of chicken broth. Needless to say, we did not finish breakfast and ended up at McDonald's instead. The cleanliness of the breakfast presentation was, for lack of a better word, questionable.
I understand that Microtel is a budget choice for hotel stays, but the lack of cleanliness is really inexcusable. We will not be choosing this chain for any stays again.
