“A First Class Operation”
We enjoyed our stay at the El Cid Castilla Beach hotel very much. The check-in experience was very professional and efficient. The room was spotless and spacious. The hotel staff could not have been nicer. We especially enjoyed the pool and the afternoon games hosted by the staff. It really is a first class operation.
“El Cid Castilla Beach”
We were greeted by the front desk with an explanation the Expedia customers are registered in their Club Elite, their concierge level services. I was greeted by Marisela who quickly and professionally explained the hotel, services, our use of the Club Elite and their availability to resolve any issues, answer any questions and do what ever it takes to make for an excellent stay in the hotel. Our room had a beautiful view over the pool on the right facing the water. Sunsets at night from the balcony were wonderful. Our room was on the second floor, at times there was noise from the atrium/room entrance. This did not bother us but may others. And we did have the opportunity to change rooms, but chose not to. I would recommend a room higher up or in one of the building that is perpendicular to the beach, not the main building. The pools are beautiful, lounges plentiful, entertainment daily, happy hours and the beach is extensive for morning or evening walks. There are a number of restaurants to chose from too. We didn't take the all inclusive offer, but it is there for those who want it. This is a time share offering, but if you are not interested in attending a meeting, NO is accepted and you can enjoy your vacation. There are local buses right outside the hotel to take you to grocery stores, Walmart, or the public marina. There is an El Cid Marina hotel which is a private shuttle.
“Great Service! Great Vacation!”
The service at this hotel was amazing. From the check in, to the bell boy to the waiters & chambermaids. Everyone was always right there willing to help you. They were always cleaning & doing upkeep. We travelled with our two young children & the staff were so friendly with them. The food was great, we never had a problem in our two weeks there, didn't even get tired of the food as we had at previous resorts. The steakhouse was fantastic! Yum!! Pools were fun, one was warmer, the other cooler, which was nice to get a bit of both. The peddlers on the beach were annoying but once you tell them no thanks, they usually left you alone & the hotel didn't let them come past the ropes unless you asked them too which was nice. The rooms were fine, clean. Our room wasn't very sound proof but really we were hardly ever in it. We had one night were people partied by the pool until the early morning & the sound carried very loudly to our room & once we mentioned it to the front desk, it never happened again, they said generally security patrols the area & they would make sure it was done. Overall a great stay for our family vacation. Would go again.
“Great hotel - don't know why just 2.5 stars....”
I stayed in the low-rise rooms - 0315. I was greeted by paper flowers (i think the beautiful things were made with baby-powder-scented t.p, but they were so artfully done, I kept them the whole trip! The room had travertine floors & bathtub, a giant king sized bed, a/c, ceiling fan and plenty of space. It even had a lovely balcony overlooking the active pool area (complete with waterslide & stone diving boards & bar & cruise-ship-type activities) with the ocean visible just past. The location is great & there are free shuttles to the other El Cid resorts. I really have no idea why this is just 2.5 stars. .. maybe I shouldn't say anything so the rates don't go up! Actually, I want everyone to know how great it is... but I didn't do the all-inclusive deal, which was $65 more per day.
“Definately will be back”
Although the hotel is a little older we absolutely loved the place. The location is great, we walked a lot. The food and choices of restaurants were excellent. Our room was basic but clean. Could use little fridges in there though. Had a coffee maker in room(handy as restaurants and coffee shop don't open until 7)We loved the argentenian restaurant, but all were good. There was a burger stand right by the pool decent and convenient. Beach vendors weren't too aggressive. Didn't have any problems at all with time share people. We can't rave enough about how fabulous the staff at this resort are. Everyone seems to really enjoy their jobs, always smiling and always greet you. Our pool and beach waiters especially, never went thirsty or hungry, when you tip them they genuinely appreciate it. Like I said we have a vacation club and could the staff at our resort learn a thing or two about customer service. The pool winds around the whole resort kind of fun. The activities staff were great, they had the usual volleyball, aerobics and lots of other fun games. Just my husband and I went this trip but I wouldn't hesitate to bring our 3 kids next time. We definately will be back to this same resort, as I said the staff really make this resort a great place to vacation.
“Will go again”
Only complaint we have is next time we go we would prefer a room on the SUNNY side of the hotel. I was sick while there and had to call Dr and go to hospital for 3 days. Excellent Dr, excellent care in hospital. Sickness was NOT related to anything concerning hotel. We will go again and stay in same hotel.
“Is it Time to Go Back??”
Wow.. We had a great time in Mexico and the Hotel was great!! We loved it. Everyone was all so nice- We really enjoyed the Hotel we are going back next year after our wedding cuz it was good. The food in the all incluive was good also the resturants and pools- It was all good. House keeping was very good and always made us feel like we where at home- Can't wait!!!
“very good”
hotel was amazing, services great, overall best ever
“Our Favorite Hotel in Mazatlan”
El Cid Castilla is our favorite hotel in Mazatlan. Although it is not located in the "Zona Dorada", it is only a few minutes away by "pulmonia." It has everything one wants all in one location---a good beach front view, several restaurants to choose from, two different pools, activities for adults and children, night life and an excellent wait staff willing to make one's stay most enjoyable.
“would love to go back”
My husband and I travel often, so choosing Mazatlan was a great experience. We found everything to our liking, and the people so friendly and helpful.
