“Very impressed”
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in March and it was great. I had never been to Mexico before and we had a wonderful time. The hotel was very clean and the staff was great. The price was great too! Even though we didn't speak a lot of Spanish, we had no problem getting along. George, one of the managers of the hotel, was very helpful anytime we had a question. The beach is right across the street and you can get drinks and snacks there all day. The sunsets are beautiful! There are two pools at the hotel and one has a swim-up bar. Its busier on the weekends but its still possible to find chairs at either pool. The food was great as was the nightly entertainment. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Very nice Mexican experience”
This hotel is very well maintained, the staff is friendly and the all inclusive food is very good. It is a Mexican hotel which specializes in serving Mexican families. Few of the staff speak English, but our experience was not hampered by this. The grounds and rooms are very well maintained, the pools and beach were beautiful. Rooms are reminiscient of european style - not large by American standards - but very clean. We had a very enjoyable relaxing vacation and would definately come here again.
“Get away from the tourists”
Vista Club Playa de Oro is a resort emersed in Mexican culture and heritage; fantastic food, simplistic design and style of rooms, and very friendly employees are a few elements that you will enjoy. It's relaxing to go to a foreign country and not hear your native tongue, however, the majority of employees spoke english to some degree. I can't wait to return!
“I left my heart in Manzanillo”
Playa de Oro was a very pleasant experience. The grounds are nice but not fancy. The atmosphere is very family oriented. Everyone, from the front desk to the maids, was wonderful and attentive. The enthusiastic staff provided numerous activities in which to participate, but they also helped us find extra activities such as touring Colima and snorkeling. They helped make our trip very special and I miss them all.
“Fun place!”
Playa de Oro was a great place to stay. The people are warm and friendly. The food was great, the grounds nice, the pools clean. A few words of caution: not all rooms are created equal. Our first one had some problems (non-workig lights, ripped curtain, plaster splashes on the sliding glass door), but the second one (up at the top of the hill) was great. You might want to check when Mexican vacations take place - we managed to hit their spring vacation and their holy week - so the resort was really crowded on some days. We really enjoyed being a part of Mexico and interacting (at least a little bit) with the Mexican families at the resort. A completely different experience than being at many of the RCI exchanges we've made. I would definitely recommend Playa de Oro!
“Enjoyable Stay”
We were first given a room that wasn't clean and had lots of steps. We asked for a different room and was accomodated immediately. That room was GREAT. Very family oriented which we really enjoyed. Everyone was very friendly. I expected the grounds to be more updated but that's O.K. We will definitely go back! The beach is just across the street and there is a guard to help you cross. It was a wonderful vacation!
“Food was excellent”
The hotel is on a hill lots of climing, the beach is across the street and the beds are hard but we got a room looking out the pacific, the food was excellent and we were treated very well.
“Not impressed”
the hotel was a bit dirty and not maintained, the food was very good but not impressed with the serv
“Best Value All Inclusive in Manzanillo”
This hotel has a clean pool; simple good food; good drinks and friendly helpful staff. It is across the street from the beach. If you wish to swim and snorkle where there is brain coral along 1 side and a sunken ship out from a beach with gentle waves that is just a long walk down the beach or you can take a taxi to the end of the beach where palapa restuaraunts are located for your enjoyment. I have stayed in 8 hotels in the Manzanillo area. I would recomend this one to anyone on a budget who would like to stay at an all inclusive.
“I would recommend this place, but only for families--a lot for kids to do.”
The hotel was clean, the room was clean but very basic, the bed was hard as a rock, so were the pillows. The noise from the highway and the vibrating boom of the disco until 3 AM kept me awake when the window was open, the AC (made non-adjustable by the hotel) made the room too cold and clammy with the window shut. Food was plentiful but bland and uninteresting. The fancy restaurant shown in the online pictures of the hotel is not connected with the hotel--you do get a 15% discount, however. Nightly entertainment was well-done (exquisite dancers), but after the 3rd night, I started to find it a bit boring. During the day, constant disco music and noise. Lots and lots and lots and lots of kids (how much pee in the pool?--we did not use it). Management and hotel staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, in spite of being woefully underpaid. The grounds are well kept and very pretty, though we did see some discarded diapers lying about near the edge of the property. There are roosters and iguanas, both of which we liked. You must cross a very busy road to get to the beach, but they post a crossing guard to help. Beach was nice but big waves--do not go in unless you are a strong swimmer. They have a bunch of free umbrellas and tables for use by hotel guests, but wander a few feet down the beach and you will be charged $8. Bus and taxi easy to get.
