Me Rodgrigues was so helping in arranging our transportation from the airport. The location was great. Right on the bus line. Breakfast was great and staff was very friendly. Pool was lovely. We would definitely book again with this hotel.

We had an absolutely perfect stay at Pestana Promenade! The rooms are lovely and spacious. The only thing that bugged me was the big arch blocking our view of the sea partially. A few rooms have this problem. The staff are amazing, especially the cleaning ladies who do a wonderful job and are very kind. Amazing staff in the restaurant as well! Thank you Pestana, we will be returning for sure!😀

This was our second stay at the hotel and it didn’t disappoint. Every member of staff, no matter what their role, were exceptional. They were professional, yet friendly, and always able to help. They went out of their way to ensure my parents were happy with their vegetarian needs, and spent much time helping us choose our tours. The Island tours are a fantastic way to see everything, or you can get a bus outside the hotel into Funchal then to whenever you need. We found the taxis were reasonably priced too. The hotel outdoor and indoor pools were great, as well as the spa services. All set in beautiful grounds with easy access to the promenade. Breakfast had ample variety with so many bread choices, pastries, an omlette station, fresh fruit, ham, cheses etc. Some nights had fun entertainment with Madeiran dancers and BBQ, good Singers and a quality Karaoke night. The bartenders were happy to make you any cocktail if they had the ingredients, in addition to their extensive list. Our room had a huge super king bed and awesome seaview from our 6th floor balcony. Once again, what made the two weeks were the wonderful staff. It was great to see the Hotel Manager helping the staff and he was always friendly. We particularly want to thank Salomé & Flipe (our favourites), Lina, Tito and Rui in Reception; Fatima, Ana, Tania, Ivone, Claudia and Andrew in the restaurant. Them and others really made time to speak with us and help us have the best time. Thank you again.

The dining options were a disappointment. After our first buffet dinner was poorly done we chose to only eat our prepaid breakfast onsight. Internet in the room was extremely unreliable and my husband had to go to the business center to use his laptop. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. On the positive side, the staff were pleasant. While outdated, the rooms were clean.

Be careful while booking this property. The property does not offer double/Queen beds as advertised on some booking sites. Property has nice views with a good pool. Location is a bit far to the center if you're expecting to walk. Rooms are spacious but seem a bit outdated and beds are not comfortable. Amenities closing hours are quite early. Hotel seems to be likened by much older age group. You would expect better service for the price you pay. Property has lots of potential but seems owners don't want to invest in it. I do not recommend this place.

The Initial rooms that were offered were totally unfit for purpose. Labeled as Promenade view they should not be used as sleeping rooms more suitable for shops.

Promenade room was extremely itsy-bitsy and noisy. There is plenty of 4* hotels nearby with bigger rooms. When the balcony windows are closed you may feel that you are staying in the basement storage room. Not for the people with the irrational fear of confined spaces. And no privacy when the windows are open. Breakfast was okay. The service was efficient, the greeting desk and concierge were friendly.

Lovely spacious hotel with nice rooms (although, in truth, the decor could do with a little bit of a refresh). Some rooms and the back of the hotel have a great view of the sea looking out over beautiful blue waters. However, beware that some cheaper room options are on a basement floor with a window/balcony practically on the promenade, very close to where people are walking. Would recommend paying more for a room on the first or second floors. Staff are very friendly and the pool area is nice. Have stayed a number of times and would return.

The hotel is perfectly adequate but we had moved from another equally rated hotel which we thought better both for food and service. Promenade seemed rather short staffed a reception member had to leave his post to show us ho t work the TV.

Property was nice ,although we found a lot was missing in the amenities, not enough staff and service lacking due to it. Maybe due to Covid and property having been closed for a period of time, a number of electronic equipment and appliances were missing or not working. If not improved, I would hesitate to recommend or stay there again. Hopefully things will improve.

The hotel is excellent, fantastic location, a few minutes walk from Funchal city center and surrounded by shops and amazing restaurants. Their own restaurant is not so great but there are so many fantastic options close by that this was not a issue at all

Fantastic location with friendly staff team. Allocated an excellent room on the 3rd floor with lovely balcony. Coffee station at breakfast could perhaps ve located away from main breakfast buffet to reduce congestion during current covid sicial distancing

The dining room staff were very friendly and the breakfast acceptable. Often there appeared to be a shortage of essentials that lasted for days (jams certainly). The bedroom service was poor although the staff were friendly. We bought our own soap as this never seemed to be replaced when necessary, disposal bags for sanitary product were there on arrival but not replaced. We had a late pick up on leaving and we asked if we could keep the room, we were told it was to be occupied, this makes sense, but no alternative offered. There is no left luggage room, this is a first for us, we had our luggage placed near the front door for the whole day, this gave us a day of concern. The reception staff dismissed our concerns. Pestana are going to suffer with a lack of business due to Coronavirus, we certainly won’t return to a Pestana hotel and we are snow birds who like to winter in Madeira for long periods. A poor review will be going on trip advisor, a poorly run hotel in our view and Pestana have a problem.

Great breakfast and lovely seating area outside on the promenade- access directly onto promenade too. Hotel very clean and staff helpful and welcoming. However, the TV in the room was very very small and there was a window between the bedroom and bathroom which wasnt ideal for a father and daughter - although there was a blind to pull down it still wasnt liked.

We had a great time at this hotel. The pools are wonderful with views of the ocean and close access to the promenade. The restaurants are delicious and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that the pool chairs need to be updated. The rooms are a little dated as well, but very nice and clean. We enjoyed the entertainment at night- karaoke and a spanish guitar player.

Check-in was underwhelming. It was late evening and the staff seemed uninterested. The layout is odd, and finding my room was weird: the ground floor is Level 0 and the reception hall is Level 5; unless you've been there before it's not immediately obvious that Level 5 represents street level and Level 0 is where most of the 'facilities' are located (i.e. the pool, bars, dining room …..). Having said that, my room on Level 0 had a 'balcony' which allowed direct entry to the pool area - very nice indeed. The 'Maitre D' was a bit grumpy, but in his job I'd be grumpy too !

Very good hotel in an excellent location near both shops and some excellent restaurants. Friendly staff and good facilities. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. My only minor issues were: No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which are found in other hotels (including Pestana). We had to use our own small travel kettle. I would like to have seen a greater selection of choices at breakfast - especially on the hot food. The hotel offers pay movies but our room had a small TV, which was positioned quite a way from the bed (for two people to watch, for example). Everything else was great.

Relaxing stay in the Lido
Lovely hotel, in a great spot. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, with lots of ideas for trips and restaurants. Tasty breakfast and great poolside bar.

Great hotel. Nice staff. We did however have a bathrobe taken from our room by the cleaners and didn't ask to have it taken. It took 2 days to get another, then it was too small to fit, then 1 more day to get a proper size. Other than that the views are great the beds were comfy! We would probably not stay there again, not or any other reason than that we like variety and would probably choose somewhere else.

Having had a very nice 5 day stay, the evening before departure I booked a transfer to the airport via reception. On the morning of departure the transfer did not arrive on time and so we waited. The lady on reception insisted it was on the way yet there were many taxis available, and we discovered it was the same price. After 15 minutes I asked for my prepayment back so we could take a regular cab. The lady on reception was dismissive, told me to wait and ignored my request. It was necessary to absolutely insist on a refund and threaten a complaint in order to get the attention of the lady. She was clearly trying to prevaricate to make time while we waited. After all the this unnecessary unpleasantness from the reception lady we eventually left in a cab and the hotel transfer had still not arrived! We were astonished at the rudeness and lack of co-operation. This really let down what was otherwise a very nice stay.

I booked a sea view room and when I got there, my given room was in the garden by the pool. Definitely no sea view. Told it was a sea view room. Told no rooms available and I could move the next day. I was only there for 4 nights and moving is a pain....so back to reception, said I was not happy and they found me a room straight away. Private balcony with a sea view. Excellent space in room. Sofa and chaise. I asked for a kettle, which was provided. I took my own tea etc. Less than 10 mins walk to the Supermarket “Pingo Doce” steps by The Devk lead straight onto Promenade where there are great restaurants. Also lunches at The Deckbwere great. Closed when bad weather, so moved inside. Great choice at breakfast. Staff all really nice and helpful.
