Stay Away
Arrived at check in at 10.30pm after a delayed flight into Lisbon. We rang ahead as soon as we landed to say we may be a little after 11pm as that was the latest check in time for the receptionist to say if you’re late we won’t allow you in. Poor service when we got there. I know it was only a hostel but the rooms were an absolute disgrace and would advise anyone considering this to stay well away.

The location is fantastic and the room is pretty clean. The only drawback is the noise but it was manageable. You can not beat it for the price.

It was rather old and basic, but for $50 you get what you pay for. Keep in mind that it is a hostel and not a hotel. The view from the balcony was beautiful and the location was great. The bathrooms were clean. The staff were helpful and available when needed. We would stay again.

Great location, reasonably priced!
Great location just off the main high street but not noisy...only downside is the 3-4 flights of stairs to the rooms. Clean rooms, new bath room, good size rooms for a hostel. A big plus is the hostel staff were very welcoming, attentive and nice people. Good value!

This place is a gem. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the location is excellent. It is a budget hostel in an old building with a shared bathroom and shower, and you have to carry your luggage up four flights of steps, but the value is excellent. The rooms open onto a shared balcony with an incredible view of Rua Augusta both up toward the heart of Baixa and down just a few blocks toward the Lisboa Memoria and the riverfront. There are lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood just around the hotel. It's just a short work to the Barrio Alto in one direction and Alfama in the other. Perfect spot.

the most clean hostel we have ever encountered. almost to extremes.... but the room with three bed is so tiny there is no place to stand up. the roads bellow are very busy and noisy.it is impossibe to sleep with an open window in summer and there is no air conditioning. also,all rooms share the same long balcony along the building and the window is a door so it cannot be left open to air when you go out. i think you must write that you need to climb 100 wooden steps to the rooms! especially when people have suitcases and other luguage.it is not a simple climb at all. the ktchen is great but there are hundreds of very cheap eating places just below....

Awesome location right in the heart of Lisbon!
Overall the hostel was a pleasant stay with a shared kitchen, small living room space, and two shared bathrooms. Conditions were very clean. Staff were extremely welcoming and assisted with storing luggage upon checkin as well. For the sake of mentioning negatives they were not major and should not be consequential in deciding if you should stay here. I would stay again. The bed was perhaps not the most comfortable but as a hostel it was standard. Also, it should be noted that the five flights of stairs that need to be traversed in order to get to the hostel may not be something everyone will accept. It was fine for me however.

Great location and Great staff!
My first ever visit to Lisbon was very nice. The hostel is centrally located and I booked for a private room with shared bathroom. My room was on top floor with great views and the price was good too. Bare in mind that there is no lift and that you could end up climbing 5 floors to get to your room. So it is a bit of struggle and you need to be in good shape! The staffs did an amazing job in keeping the place really tidy and they were very helpful. Special mention to Tashi who is a very pleasant young lady and whose advice were really helpful :) If I ever visit Lisbon again I will definitely stay there again!

We had a wonderful stay here .. clean .. bathrooms .. rooms ... kitchen .. our hostess tash was so wonderful and helpful .. only problem (Not for us we're back packing ) but if you have luggage it's four floors up .. so beware lol But honestly location location location. Wonderful experience we wil go back again

Noisy, can't sleep
Poor insulation, feels like sleeping on the street. I did read some reviews before making the reservation and thought the noise would not be a problem, however, the property is located in downtown and you can constantly hear car horns and people performing on the street, as well as motorcycles passing by and at midnight, you can clearly hear street cleaners. really bad and I hope they quickly change their windows because the location is great.

The lady was so nice our flight didn't go in to Lisbon till 11 and so she waited for us to check in at midnight but we did call ahead. Everything is so near to this hostal literally walking distance.

The Hotel is excellently located, however since we are in our 60s and 50s and the hotel not having an elevator, offered us a challenge . This should be clearly stated in their advertising, NO ELEVATOR. It was an over sight on our part that we failed to inquire about bath/toilette fascilities as we prefer private to communal. The hotel is definitely for the younger set. Price was fair. Staff friendly. Reminded me of college dorm days.

When your room is on 6th floor without elevator, it will be a nightmare after you walk all day. Wall is as thin as paper. I could clearly hear snoring from the room next to mine.

Awesome location near all the main attractions and directly on the tram 28 line. The room gets warm at night and it's hard to sleep with the windows open because it is very loud outside.

GOOD: -good price -friendly host -good location BAD: -be ready to climb to 4th floor with your luggage, no elevator -loud at night, bring ear plugs -too many people sharing the bathroom, bad luck if 1 of them uses the bathroom for extensive amount of time BOTTOM LINE If cost and location are your primary concerns, this is the hostel to book. Bring ear plugs and expect inconveniences, you are all good to go!

Lovely little hostel in great location.
I had a lovely stay at the Lisbon RiverView Hostel. The hostel is in the perfect location in downtown Lisbon on Rua Augusta - A moment away from the shops, restuarants and tourist sights. There's also a stop for the iconic yellow 28 tram a minute down the road, taking you through the lively Alfama. It is also ideally situated for travelers wishing to day trip from Lisbon to Sintra National Park or the neighboring beaches, with both the Cais do Sodre and Rossio train stations little over 10 minutes walk away. The hostel itself is well kept, clean and tidy. We had a double room with a small balcony and great views over the street below and archway. Being situated on a main street we did expect it to be relatively noisy and it was for the most part of the day, however we did not find this a problem at all - In fact we slept very well each night. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped - fridge, freezer, microwave, hot plate, kettle and toaster. The staff were welcoming, kind, helpful and truly made our trip a real pleasure. We felt very much at home here - Would highly recommend and hope to stay there again soon.

Nice hostel, very professional ladies at reception, we checked in on 18 April 15, the lady at reception was great. Rooms clean, bathroom clean and tidy, kitchen clean, clean towels, perfect location right opposite old town. That was the best hostel I ever stayed. Would recommend it to anyone.

The hostel is in a great location, downtown tourist part of Lisbon. The hostel is located on the 2nd and 4th floor, and there is no elevator. So it is tough bringing your luggage up flights of stairs. The hostel is next to a main street, so it get very loud after 7am when traffic picks back up. The window is really thin, so it can get cold and noisy at night. The host is very nice.

Hostel is in very good location with great view. I really enjoyed during my stay in Lisbon. Near hostel you can eat good and cheap food as there is many local places. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Perfectly clean and well fitted kitchen.

Fantastic location !
The location is amazing ... with everything easily accessible. Less than 2 blocks from Praca do Comercio with views of the Tejo river. Easy walking distance to Se Catedral and Castelo de Sao Jorge. About 5 minutes to the metro ... 10 minutes to Rossio train station to Sintra ... and same for Cais do Sodre train station to Belem. Cafes on either side of the entrance offering affordable breakfast ...numerous restaurants within a 10 minute walk ... and several club with Fado music also within 10-15 minute walk. All at a very affordable price. The rooms are very clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Lisbon on a budget !
