“Solid place to stay on the Island”

I had read other people saying this was a decent place to stay on Kauai and after staying there I would have to agree 100%. Nothing fancy but perfect for a place to rest after exploring the wonders of Kauai. The restaurant on site isn't bad either. We talked to some locals on our trip and they told us that this place is one of the few Hawaiian native owned hotels in all the islands, so nice to support the local people instead of another huge chain corporation. The staff is honest, dependable, and friendly as well.

“Great Place to Stay”

Kuai Sands is in a great location. Could have better signs to find it. Nice beach for relaxing and watching the ocean. Great restaurants within walking distance.

“Kauai Sands is super awesome and great in alot of ways!!”

It's all got that renovated 50's motel thing happening so that's awesome. Also, it's right next to the beach! It has got some of the nicest people I've ever encountered working at a hotel. The staff is friendly and comforting. Another thing, it's easy on your pocket book!! You'll forget about your rate in 1 day and you'll be at home in paradise. Another thing you'll appreciate is not having pompous, rich people around. Everyone you'll encounter at the Kauai Sands is just like you; modest, nice and real!!

“Best Price sleeping pad on the Island”

hey for the price with a free upgrade to ocean view on balcony , and king size (because i checked in too early)... just what the doctor ordered after the Kalalau trial and a rest before the Na pali cost kayak ... clean sheets and friendly staff... the place has seen it's glory now a geezer hotel but holds it's old charm... this is a good fit if you don't need any extra service and just a place to crash... currently there are the restaurant on site is being renovated and no business center (no internet)... they have a coin based do it yourself Landry just behind check in... No rooms have direct ocean view, only an adjacent / diagonal partial view to the ocean... beach is very quiet and nice views, but really can't swim because of the rocky shore line... hope this helps and enjoy Kauai

“Pleasantly Surprised”

My wife and I were looking for the cheapest we could find, but prefurred to be on the beach. Got both with this hotel. The hotel is simple, mostly resembling a Motel 6, BUT the grounds are kept well, as are the rooms. The staff is pleasant and polite, but I was careful not to ask too much from them. Cleaning staff was fine as well, BTW. Both can recomend area wining and dinning. We recomend that you rent a car tho, even though there are plenty of shopping and convienience stores around there, just to make going to the sights easier. However, if you are looking to max out your vacation, we recomend visiting the more expensive hotels for dinner and use their beaches. Restraunts to try: Beach House Dukes Hilton and dont forget to try some of the local spots too.

“conenient location at a good rate”

We needed a hotel for one night before catching our flight home and this hotel was perfect for that. The staff is friendly and the room was clean and comfortable at a good price. Its on the beach although not good for swimming. Close to shopping and restaraunts and 5 miles from the airport.

“Our Stay at Kaui Sands Hotel”

Our experience was very pleasant. Upon arrival at the hotel, we have requested a king size bed but got a room with 2 full size beds. Talked to the front desk and the lady there find us a room with king size bed. Hotel outdated but this is budget hotel. Right by the beach, grounds very nice, quiet. We left every morning early and when came back the room was clean, new towels in the bathroom, very good service. I will stay again and recommed this hotel to anyone that is looking for quiet, clean place to stay. No restaturant on the grounds, but there are plenty of places to eat at walking distance or a very short drive. There is also a little fridge on the room. Great place, not a high end resort but well maintain, even when is an old hotel. Every room have balcony with chairs, some rooms like ours will have a view of the beach; cealing fan, window a/c. The beach is not for swimming, but within 5 to 10 minutes you can find nice beach to swim.

“Great Low Budget Hotel for Sleeping After Days Out and About on Kauai”

The hotel was unimpressive in terms of decor and amenities. It reminded me of an apartment for college students. Still, my husband and I found ourselves very comfortable there. In fact, I would say it was the most comfortable hotel we ever stayed in. Puzzling, but true. I'd say that if you're interested in being out and doing stuff on the island and mostly want a hotel for sleeping at a great price, then this is a great choice.

“Fantastic for the price!”

Wanted something budget, and this was perfect. They may be reno'ing or changing soon, the restaurant is currently shut down, but whale watching from the hotel beach was really cool! Bring binoculars!
