“no a/c, but nice place to stop in for the night. beautiful view to wake up to.”
No airconditioning. Nice place to stop in for the night. Beautiful view to wake up to. Family friendly.
“Pictures were nicer than actual room , but still worth the price compared to other 2 stars.”
Overall positive experience for a two star hotel, room was a bit old and the beds slightly uncomfortable. Bonus to the room was satellite TV with HBO and the large size of the room, close to restaurants, only other negative were the stairs if your room was not on the first floor. Quiet little town to stay the night.
“Friendly staff, however.........”
The staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the bathroom needs some updating. It would be nice if there were a microwave in the room. They do have a mini frig in the room. It seemed to be overpriced for what the room offered. The room is spacious which was a plus.
“Only if you have no other choise”
Its a rundown Motel, the room was dirty
“internet”
do not even have wireless internet. the heater works.
“Don't Stay Here - It's Terrible”
The name of the hotel was misleading. They called themselves "Castle Waimea Country Lodge and Resorts" but the place was like a cheap motel. I think even Motel 6 or Motel 8 are much better. This place was old and dated and looked creepy. The room carpet was filthy and everything was old. No air conditioner but a fan mounted on the wall and the window could not be opened. I am not a picky person and when I go travel I usually go on a budget. All I ask for is a clean bed to sleep and a place to shower. I can handle most 2 stars hotels but I couldn't stand this place. So DON"T stay here, just drive farther to another town. It's terrible, trust me.
“Who would go to this place a second time?”
This tired, run-down room was a big disappointment in several ways. While the counter clerk was terrifically friendly when she handed me my key, it was all downhill from there. I came in the room to the sight of one bed being made, and the other unmade and scattered all over -- pillows on the floor, sheets still sitting in a stack on the dresser, comforter strewn across the made bed. Then I went to open the window and saw signs of mold all around the casement. Went to the bathroom and found that the seat wasn't even bolted in, and it slid onto the floor, and me almost with it!, when I tried to sit down. When I tried to use the fan (no A/C) later in the evening, it was quickly a help, but very loud. But once I had that, the TV, and my laptop going at once, the circuit popped on the TV and I had to unplug it and plug back in to even have all these things going at once. While I definitely felt safe and that the bed was clean, this was pretty subpar. I've stayed at the Hilo Hawaiian many times over the years and always felt it was terrifically reliable, even if a little outdated. But as for this place, I am truly surprised that this little inn could be managed by Castle Properties. I am assuming that they don't realize the problems or they would have intervened. Even though my business was in Waimea, I would rather drive all the way from Kona than to ever stay here again.
“Grossly Overrated”
This was the most unpleasant place to stay for the price. It was smelly, filthy and run down. The service?...what service?
