The hotel was lovely, the girls on reception were very nice and couldn't do enough for you. We were on the ground floor and in the mornings it was very noisy outside so couldn't sleep as long as we wanted. The rooms were lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable but the shower was not great, there wasn't good pressure of water and the water was only slightly warm so that was a big disappointment. Apart from that everything else was good.

A very comfortable room in a peaceful quiet area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice decor and grounds. We hope to stay there again.

Room was clean, beds comfortable but not a fan of mood lighting. With no light above mirror, room was quite dismal. Apart from small bedside lights covered by long shades thereby blocking light there was standard lamp with same style shades and overhead lights at door same as others. Room needs proper overhead light at mirror. Staff and food excellent as always but £5.15 for a bottle of plain water in room is extortionate.

Okay but needs an upgrade
Reception staff and restaurant staff were all very good, but the hotel is ordinary. Mattresses felt cheap, crunchy sheets and towels and the thinnest duvet. I couldn’t get warm on our second night. An investment into mattress toppers and cosy bedding and towels would give you a much higher rating. Luxuries you expect at a spa hotel!

Hotel was exceptional, however to use the Spa was £20 per hour. This hotel was advertised on Hotels as having a spa and i paid considerably more for this hotel compared to others nearby as a result. If i book direct with the hotel then the spa is included, this devalues the Hotels.com price. All other hotels i stay at include the Spa when it is advertised.

Decent hotel. Little overpriced. Clean and reasonble sized beds and bedrooms. Restaurant service is abysmal. Breakfast order must be given immediately server welcomes you or the wait can be an age. The breakfast is usually poor to average. Evening menu is poor. Food is average

Avoid room 22 at all costs if you want to sleep. All night we could hear the background music from reception and when I spoke to manager he said should have complained to night porter no offer of refund or any remorse. Have stayed here several times and always been pleased thus time not the case.

Stay in Irvine
First night in room at front of hotel close to very busy road, difficulty sleeping. Service by some staff in restaurant very slow but food choice ok. On first evening small flies seen on restaurant window and following morning flies seen on fresh fruit. However, this was addressed promptly when hotel staff notified. A £20 hourly fee charged to each person booking on Hotel.com to access spa facilities. This was only explained on our arrival. This was most disappointing. Fabulous deserted beach within walking distance of hotel.

From the moment we walked into the Gailes Hotel, we were welcomed and there wasn’t anything that was too much trouble or effort for the wonderful staff throughout the Hotel. We will be back.

The hotel itself was nice but the room I was allocated was a bit noisy for me, therefore I did not sleep very well which marred my experience and I was incredibly tired the next day while working.

Not our most enjoyable stay at the Gailes unfortunately. This time round majority of the staff seemed miserable and we felt we were an inconvenience until our last morning when the staff at breakfast were a delight. We ended up with extremely noisy people (we think they had friends from other rooms continue post wedding that was held there for drinks next to us), credit I did call staff and it seemed to quieten down half hour later. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off which we have no problem with evacuating and doing the right thing however once allowed back in our room the noise started back up at 2:30/3am I think and being very aware there seemed to be only one staff member on night duty and likely still dealing with the fall out from the evacuation we didn’t want to call and interrupt what he might need to do and instead had next to no sleep for a couple more hours. Our second night was much better but I have to say the care factor from staff in regards to the noise from room next door was non existent and it felt they tried to pin everything on the fire alarm/evacuation. We have stayed at the Gailes every visit back from Australia but their glum/miserable approach to clients servicing the hotel doesn’t make it overly appealing to be worth future visits. I feel the Gailes could do much better

Hotel is nothing special or exciting but does everything to an acceptable level. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom clean. Bed comfortable with good quality sheets. Breakfast choice is fine and the hot food cooked to order which i think is preferable.

Golf trip
Was with my brother from Canada for 3 day golf trip. Hotel was ideal for us with comfortable room excellent breakfast and bar and restaurant. Staff were lovely and nothing was any problem . As a bonus for us there is a large golf shop and a driving range on site.

Loved my stay - will return
Enjoyed my stay here. Staff were nice. Room was good with a big, comfy bed. Had to pay extra to use the Thermal Suite and gym (as I booked via a third party provider), so bear that in mind if you're looking to use these facilities. I paid GBP20 - not sure if that was per visit or per stay. Thermal suite was a nice place to relax, so I did not personally mind this extra charge. Dinner in the restaurant was good, as was the included breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
