The house was just as represented in the listing. Simple place, but all the basic amenities were there. Nice to have the outdoor shower and washer/dryer. It was all about the location for us. We love Hanalei Bay. View is incredible. Thank you!

cozy cottage with a lovely view
We enjoyed our stay in this cozy cottage on Hanalei Bay with a view of the bay through beautiful trees--it was hard to pull ourselves away. It had everything we needed--the outdoor shower is so convenient and there are lots of books to read if it rains. The cottage is on a lawn shared with several other rentals so we got to know our fellow visitors!

Peaceful Oasis Steps from the Bay
An absolutely magical place that I would highly reccomend and can't wait to return to. The house was very sweet and homey. We were able to comfortably cook many meals in the house. We spent every day just reading and relaxing at the beach, which is basically only separated from the house by a large lawn. You can see the ocean from your living room window and we woke up to the sound of crashing waves and beautiful sunrises every morning. Absolutely idylic. We will be back.

Perfect location
The location of the moon beach cottage is perfect, you’re literally steps from the sand. The cottage is small but works well for two people. The AC is nice to have on hot days. It’s also on the quieter end of the bay which is nice. We had a fantastic stay.

Hanalei Moon our private refuge
We had a lovely stay at the Hanalei Moon cottage. It’s located at the western end of Hanalei Beach, on a large lawn which is shared with several other houses. The house is set well back from the beach, but the view across the lawn is pretty, and we enjoyed the easy access from the street. The cottage was well appointed, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was small but adequate for light cooking, and included an unvented gas range. We limited our cooking to breakfast items and using the microwave. There is a charcoal grill with charcoal provided. The washer and dryer worked well, though they are located outside under the overhanging eave. There is a large, outdoor shower, on a deck next to the house, and it is screened for privacy. I used that shower, daily, during our stay. There is an air conditioning unit, located in the dining / sitting area, which works well to cool the house in the evening.

Great slice of paradise
Incredible beachfront cottage bungalow building. Great for couples or families with one child. Easy walking to the beach and quick drive into town. Great for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere and more privacy.

Location! Location! Location!
This quaint bungalow was so perfect for me and my husband! Seconds walk to Hanalei Bay Beach with access to beach coolers, beach chairs and towels! Fully equipped kitchen made it easy t make breakfast every morning. Bed was very comfortable and option for open air or AC was nice! We are already trying to plan our next stay here!

Our stay at Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage
Wonderful comfortable cottage for 2 people. Not fancy but it had what we needed. Great ventilation, no need to use the air conditioner. The location is perfect, close to Hanalei, just steps from the beach, ocean view, nice little lanai, and nice outdoor shower (never used the indoor shower). The hosts were very friendly, we loved the cottage and would gladly stay there again.

We had a great time!
This is a very cute cottage right on the beach. It is not fancy, but it has the basics and it was a safe and convenient place for me and my two daughters to explore the town of Hanalei. We could walk to the shops for the cottage. There was a lovely outdoor shower, laundry, beach chairs and a fully functional kitchen. We had a wonderful stay!

OMG, loved it! Clean, comfortable and all the needed extras like beach chairs, reef safe lotion!
I would go back tomorrow and the next day after that! Accommodations were perfect, classy, and helpful! Perfect views, tons of privacy, comfortable, and had everything we needed, down to coolers for the beach!

Perfect Bungalow on Hanalei Bay
From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were totally thrilled with Moon Cottage. Everything we could possibly need was there and the cottage was clean and well organized. We loved the location and the town. We felt totally relaxed and totally comfortable. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend this rental is because we want it available for our next stay🥰. Too many good honest reviews will make it too desirable and it will book up too quickly for the future. I can’t say enough positive things. It was idyllic and a perfect find for us

Elopement Paradise
Hanalei has always been our favorite town to return to on Kauai, and what better place is there to stay than right on the beach! This cottage had everything we needed. Not only was it perfect for dipping into the ocean on a moments notice, but it was super convenient for a quick trip to the grocery store or walking to the bar (so no worrying about drinking and driving). My husband loves to cook and this kitchen had the main essentials for him to whip up something delicious just about everyday. We really couldn't have been happier with all the house had to offer. There were plenty of towels for a 9 day trip, an outdoor shower with hot water, AC (that we only used once), and a laundry unit that we thought about using (but never did, lol). Also, the patio table was perfect for breakfast and lunch-- even on a rainy day. And for days that you just want to lounge in front of the TV, you can cast all your favorite streaming apps from your phone. If you want the perfect place to call home on Kauai, stay here! Just bring lots of bug repellent, remember to close the windows and doors at night, and turn off the lights when no longer needed. :) A big thank you to our hosts for making our elopement trip all the more romantic and dreamy. We loved every bit of it, and are happy to say our first meal as husband and wife was shared right on the patio of the Hanalei Beach Moon Cottage. ♡

Try Slow
We tried slow and loved it! From the moment we arrived in Hanalei everything felt right. And the cottage was just perfect for us. The views were awesome and so was the beach, which was a short stroll across the lawn. Also loved the outdoor shower, covered lanai and well-appointed kitchen. We can’t wait to go back.

Moon Cottage stay 5/10/2021
Classic Hanalei Bay stay. Right now with the road landslide, once you've arrived, you're not likely to go very far! We really liked staying at this end of the beach. A little off the beaten beach track. The cottage was perfectly good for 2 people. Nothing fancy- a beach cottage! All the needed amenities. And really wonderful property space with only a large open lawn between the cottage and the bay!

Dream Cottage
I couldn’t think of a better stay in Hanalei. A sleepy cottage on the best part of the beach. We’d wake up and go surfing, enjoy coffee on the porch, and watch sunsets. The bed was quite comfortable, modern tv streaming, and very quick access to restaurants and town. Can’t wait to come back.

It's all about the location ....
We just came back from a 5 night stay at the cottage - our first post-vaccination foray. I'll start out by saying that the location is wonderful - you can walk right out across the lawn to gorgeous, mile-long Hanalei Beach, and the cute town of Hanalei is also within walking distance. We were pleased to see that a good proportion - though not all, by any means - of restaurants and little shops had opened up. The owners were exceptionally responsive and easy to work with - alway a bonus with a rental house! So I know that Hawaii is wickedly expensive, but I paid up thinking the cottage would be way more upscale than it was. Yes, it was very clean and tidy and very well equipped, but everything from the construction to the furnishings looked cheap. I walked in and my heart sank a little. The paint on the outside dining set is peeling off all over the place, and the house had several broken outlets, old faded bedding, paint chipped on walls, old aluminum louvered windows, everything made of plywood, rusty bathroom light, etc. etc. It was all perfectly serviceable, but just way more "rustic" than I expected, especially for the price. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay on Hanalei but I'd probably choose a different option for accommodations if we return to Kauai again.

Massive landslide prevented us from making it to property, owners still charged us 50%
There was a massive landslide that closed the road into Hanalei Bay the day we were supposed to check into the home. Traveling to the property was physically impossible. The owner only offered us a 50% refund, and we also had to make a booking at another property so we ended up double paying.

Wonderful once in the rental.
We had a wonderful time during our stay. Once we got our car rental and drove past Princeville we encountered a very long road construction zone with a one lane passage. We finally arrived at dusk in the rain. We had not received any email information regarding directions to the cottage or lock box codes. When we realize we needed a code we called Suzanne. She gave us the front door code but it didn’t have a key inside. We called her again and she directed us to the second lock box at the back door where we found keys. After that we had a wonderful time We plan to return to this rental again.

Location is perfect!
My husband, son 10 and I came for a week to Hanalei moon beach cottage. The small home is walking steps to the beach in Hanalei and has a large grass area to play on. Although small the cottage served it's the purpose and provided ample space for us to sleep. We could walk into town for dinner or shopping within minutes. Great visit to Hanalei.

Hanalei Moon Cottage - slice of heaven
If you want to experience "old Hawaii" on one of the best beachfront lots in Hanalei, the Moon Cottage it! It was our 2nd stay and fit our vacation lifestyle perfectly. Best location, part of the local community, and yes - rustic. We hope to be back next year!

Had a little glitch with the homeaway/Vrbo app but once we called the manager, everything was easy and good to go. Recommend you verify if using the vrbo app because we potentially could have been in a bind but everything worked out. The place is cozy but perfect for a relaxing get away. Would happily rent again.

Great, affordable place right on Hanalei Bay
We enjoyed a two-day long wind storm from this property and it was perfect. The gas stove came in handy when the power was out, and the view of the storm from the living room could not be beat. The house is in good condition and it had everything we needed.

We love hearing our guests enjoyed themselves even in stormy weather. These guests experienced exceptionally strong winds and humongous surf. We are happy they weren't "blown out"! We have real weather and you never know when it can happen so your vacation attitude is all important to embrace whatever nature provides. Also happy to hear our little house worked well for these guests. We appreciate our guests taking the time to write in.
