“Gettysburg's Best”
The James Gettys Hotel is a jewel in the heart of historic Gettysburg. The rooms are all unique, with a warm and comfortable, yet very elegant atmosphere. The people at the Hotel are warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. It is one of my favorite places to stay, and I intend to go back often!
“Excellent stay”
Very nice accomodations, coffee and muffins, coffee cake. oj was a pleasant surprise. Convenient to the college we were visiting
“Historic Hotel - great location!”
The James Gettys Hotel is right in the heart of downtown Gettysburg, within the block leading up to the main intersection of the town. We had the Indian Suite- a wonderful treat - but the double bed was squeaky so took a night to get used to! Full fridge, microwave, 2 burner stove and continental breakfast is left in your room the night before. Parking pass for their lot in the back which is valuable. Easy drive to main Visitors Centre, the heart of tours for the Civil War and surrounding battlefields.
“In the heart of it all”
Just spent a couple nights at this great hotel. On our way to Gettysburg, our car died just about 30 miles outside of town.....hello AAA - towed to town, got to hotel a little grumpy. Room was awesome - basket of muffins, bread and fruit awaited our arrival. Clean comfortable room right in the center of town. Now you recall we have no transportation...well, around the corner is the trolley line, OK-really busses -($3 - all day). Got us to all the sights we wanted to see. At the end of each long history filled day - chocolates, muffins, breads and fruit waiting to take the edge off. (Continental Bfast for the next morning, but we couldn't wait!) Fresh ground coffee was nice, cream in fridge - asst of teas went untried Places to eat in walking distance as well. One thing that could put you off - it didn't bother us - is that the main drag through Gettysburg is used rather heavily by trucks, so they go through town at night as well. Wasn't an issue for us - slept great!!
“James Gettysburg Hotel”
Despite the terrific location and neighborhood, this hotel missed a chance at greatness. The Indian Suite was spacious. The furniture was uncomfortable and less than interesting. I would not categoriize this hotel as a B&B - a few tasty snacks in the evening and morning do not compare to the breakfasts served at proper B&Bs. When I look back oat some memorable B&Bs at which I have stayed, I recall meals served to the guests assembled in the same room sharing a morning meal that has had some vision behind it. While I would recommend the hotel for its location, I would be sure to set realistic expectations.
“better a warm breakfast”
very pleasant bed and breakfast, a warm breakfast would be better taking into account the price they charge
