This place is a hidden gem! Located on the beautiful and tranquil Gallatin River, it near the highway but has the feel of seclusion. The staff are all amazing. I can’t say enough good things about Rainbow Lodge. We felt like we had the place to ourselves but there were other guests present. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous. The bed was comfy and the fireplace made it even more relaxing. We stayed in Osprey and had a beautiful view of the pond. Wildlife wanders on the property at dawn and dusk. The breakfast is the best I’ve ever had! It was made to order and was delicious. The staff were great at suggesting local places to sightsee and were so hospitable. If I could give Rainbow Ranch more than 5 stars I would. We will be back. It was our favorite place to stay hands down!

The staff was really helpful when we had to leave a day ahead of our checkout due to a winter storm. The grounds of this facility were beautiful and I wish we could have stayed and enjoyed it and the restaurant. I would certainly like to go back.

Rainbow Ranch Disappointment
We were so excited to stay at Rainbow Ranch. I had been told how wonderful it was. We were in the Buffalo room. The tub was dirty and there were 4 dead flies in the toilet. The water barely trickled out of the bathroom sink and bathtub shower. By the time we checked in staff was gone for the night. The bed was comfortable. Overall for $500 the condition of the room was very poor. I would not recommend staying here. The room (possibly others) needs a serious upgrade. I do not think anything has been changed since the 80s.

John,We're terribly sorry that your arrival and stay did not meet your expectations. An issue arose that night with our water system, which went down and we did have to move guests out of that wing the next day, there are definitely challenges with wells and hard water in more remote areas like ours, and bugs can be problematic in the summer by the river. Again we very much care about the experience of our guests and wish yours would have met all your expectations.

Not worth the price
First, if you’re closing your kitchen to guests due to an event it would be appropriate to inform them of that when you receive notification of their reservation rather than waiting until they arrive. Second, the jets on the bathtub were all coated in bright orange grime. Some bleach and a sponge would have cleaned that up pretty easily. If they’re not cleaning the east spots it makes me question the hard to clean spots. For the cost of this room I would recommend going elsewhere. The lack of cleanliness and being told at checkin that we would not be allowed to dine there were both off putting. Not to mention the stink eye we received from a few folks at their event, a wedding I believe, when they saw us walking our dogs.

Michael,I am very sorry that you could not stay with us, because of a glitch with the Expedia booking system, that was out of our control, but our GM Thomas went above and beyond to connect with you and be gracious while you were in town, which is more than most establishments would do. Again, we were sorry for something that was not our fault, your irritation should have been directed at Expedia.These reviews definitely hurt business, so if hurting our business somehow elevates your disappointment of not getting to stay with us,mission accomplished. We truly wish your experience had been different!

This was a very quiet, clean and beautiful place to stay. The back deck overlooks the River .So relaxing to just sit there and listen to the sound of the flowing water. Loved the real wood burning fireplace too! Staff was super nice and accommodating.

I have mixed feeling about this property. We went in early April when the area was covered in snow & the property is minimally staffed. Icy stairway & driveway were hazard traps. Broken jacuzzi tub & dusty light fixture in the bathroom were questionable. Staff were friendly but poorly trained in follow-up communication. Otherwise, the location is beautiful & the property looked like the promo photos.

Very romantic, cozy, and luxurious!
We enjoyed everything about the property. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful! The room was luxurious and comfortable. The view from the room was beautiful. We really enjoyed the wood burning fireplace. I would definitely stay here again!

We loved literally everything about staying here in regards to our room and the facilities and services to our room, aside from fairly underwhelming experience with service in the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was amazing, but service in the afternoons and evenings in the lounge and restaurant for dinner was often painful, from incredibly slow service while not too busy, to forgetting orders as well as not understanding how to charge the room.

Snowy December
Planned a couples getaway to see snow in December and this trip and lodge did not disappoint. There was a slight issue with our room when we arrived, but the staff made it right and moved us into another room. Location was technically in Big Sky but outside of the main area where all the huddle and bustle is. Loved the location. Breakfast was included and delicious. Great little place outside of town! Restaurant is also very good.

Amazing views, the room was clean and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was some of the best food I’ve ever had. The only issue was the hot tub for star gazing was not working.

We arrived to the property the day that Yellowstone had to close down and the rivers were flooding. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant despite being overwhelmed with rising water. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the best we had the entire time we were in the Yellowstone/Grand Teton area. We would love to stay again at a later time.

The property was being re-roofed, the restaurant was closed, the T.V. didn't work, there was a water leak in the space next to our room and they had a high-powered blower going 24 hours a day, the manager promised to give us a complete refund but then claimed that due to her printer not working she would have to email it to us. She has not refunded our money. There were workers all over the place and you had to crawl over construction debris.

True to its name this is a very real ranch. Lots of old dated wood furnishings and building. Our room was not cleaned very well. The breakfast is very very salty. The dinner is okay fine dining but the price is quite high for what you get. Best to think of this place as outdoor camping in cabins.

This may have once been a nice place, and from the outside it looks very nice, but whoever is running it has let run into the ground. The bathroom was arguably the dirtiest, most in disrepair one I’ve ever had for a hotel. Care about safety? Then bring your own smoke alarm to place in the hole in the ceiling with exposed wires where one should be. No one will ever come by to empty trash or provide towels. The carpets aren’t vacuumed and there are cobwebs everywhere: light fixtures, bedroom, bathroom. The bath robes for going to hot tub may exist, some people had them, but not in the room we stayed in. On the plus side, the breakfasts are good so long as they still have coffee, which they ran out of one day at 9am.

Benjamin, Always appreciate our guests feedback and certainly try to learn from our mistakes. Our sincere apology that your stay was not all that you expected. Regarding safety, the wires that you saw are due to our current upgrades to the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. We're in the process of hardwiring those in all of our rooms, and have the battery operated ones in the room until the project is completed. Due to changes during covid and current staff shortages in our area, refreshes have been done upon request, not automatically, and with a quick call to the front desk we would have been happy to bring you robes and more towels. Regarding the bathrooms, we understand they are very tired, and that's why in April we will be gutting and renovating them which we are very excited about. We hope you will plan to try us again in the future so that we can leave you with an outstanding experience second time around.

Beautiful location. Cozy. In need of some repairs. Door handle was very lose and sink wouldn't drain well. No one came to clean our room while we were staying there for three days, so we had a full trash can. The breakfast was delicious and the hot tub was lovely.

I hope the owner reads this post!
The service at location was almost no existent. So sad because it was a cute place with wood burning fireplace. It said call front desk to have them make your fire but no one was ever at number. Why you would not have someone on site and at desk during normal business hours? The owners really should look into who they have running this Place and if the are running it then please sale it to someone who cares about service. The waitress on Valentine's day dinner was either on drugs or really lost because the have 5 items total on menu I could remember it after reading it once then she can't? Would you like app but the didn't have anything that day. Just a bad look and for cost I expect better. Again it is a beautiful place and with a few changes in there service staffing, meaning people actually at location not playing around it would be an awesome place. They had a lady when we checked in on Monday and younger girl both seemed great but went major down hill from there to Friday when we left. The long post should show that our trip means a lot to me and how the service of this beautiful place reduced our experience.

Randy, We are so sorry that this was your experience, on Valentine's day no less. It won't change your experience, but we had numerous staff both front of the house and in the kitchen that called out sick that morning, and we're already running very thin due to the ongoing staffing crisis. Instead of calling and cancelling everyone's reservations we did try to rally and do our best to take care of guests, tough decision either way. Again we apologize for not meeting your expectations, and hope you'll consider trying us again in the future, we truly care and want our guests to have exceptional experiences at the ranch.
