Service is top notch
This hotel is so cute and right in the middle of Edmonton city center. It’s located in a sketchy area with sketchy people, but from my experience the people were nice and respectful so not to worry. The service here was fantastic. The front desk girl and the server in the restaurant were great and was super accommodating. Love them. The food for breakfast was just ok. You got to pick 1 item from a list every morning that you stay and it can either be sent to your room or you can sit in the restaurant. • Chorizo hash - Watery, no flavour. BUT I didn’t complain and said it was good so that’s my fault. • Omelette - Standard, was the best of the 2 meals. The room scared me when I first arrived, because it’s a bit dated. But I think that was part of the vibe. Robes were included and they were SOO FLUFFY! Best hotel robes ever. Bed and pillows were also comfier than most hotels. They provide make up wipes and sanitary wipes which was a nice touch. There is also a fireplace which was great. Overall place is great. Highly recommend.

Unique hotel with great service
All of the Union Bank Inn team members that we interacted with were friendly and provided prompt and complete customer service. Check-in with Nikolas was quick and friendly - we chatted briefly and he told me about Edmonton weather patterns (which was good because the forecast said rain!). We stayed in a heritage room and it was very cool! French-style decorations, and the room had everything you need and more (fireplace, large jetted tub). Each late afternoon of our stay we got wine and cheese delivered to our door - a great way to wake up from an afternoon nap! The breakfast at Madison’s was very good. The servers made accommodations for dietary restrictions, and they were very friendly. Any room service needs were addressed very quickly. The street noise from Jasper Ave was pretty loud on our first night (a Saturday), but I was warned about that when I selected the room. I would recommend a quieter room to anyone that has a tendency to wake up with outside noise. All in all a great stay and I would definitely go back - I want to see what the other heritage rooms are like! :)

Not worth it.
Very small room herritage side , hotels parking is about 8 slots outside which was full , so they sent me to park about 2 min walk (-30c ) and it was also paid 25$ per night which wasnt mentioned before ..in a package was included wine and cheese and breakfast , wine and chrese was really small amount 4 small cubes of cheese and few grapes ...as for breakfast it was on a box no options muffin and yogurt which both i cant eat .. rooms are clean but small and dark feels really claustrophobic not as romantic ..rooms window faced wall also which made it feel wierd as there was building and not any view .. chose this hotel because its a boutique hotel ..paid 200$ for 1l night after taxes abd fees ( parking etc ) and rooms price was 139 $ when i booked so ending up 200$ for what i got wasnt woth it .

The Union Bank of Canada Building, constructed over 100 years ago now serves as the home of the Union Bank Inn. Our iconic Heritage Wine features guestrooms and suites located in what was once office space. Our Heritage Guestrooms are intimate and cozy, and while some may lack expansive views, they more than make up for it with luxury amenities, including fireplaces and micro-fiber bathrobes. For future stays, I might suggest you try the Contemporary Wing - a newer addition to the property. Most of the rooms in this wing overlook the landscaped park adjacent to the hotel and feature up to 30% more square footage compared to the Heritage Wing. We are pleased to offer all guests of the Union Bank Inn a Complimentary Evening Wine & Cheese Sampler and Breakfast. While we have continued to maintain our free wine & cheese service, the ongoing global pandemic has forced us to temporarily cease what would normally be a full breakfast at Madison's Grill. This decision was made, mostly because of the government mandated closures of restaurants but also to help promote physical distancing between our associates and guests. In lieu of a full breakfast, we continue to offer guestroom rates up to 60% lower than would normally be expected at this time of year. We have also introduced Take-Away breakfast boxes which were designed to minimize contact and provide a refreshing start to the day - enjoyed in your guestroom, or taken on the road when you depart. More information on the return of our full breakfast will be available soon. All guests enjoy the convenience of guaranteed parking availability at parking lots directly adjacent to the property. Our parking rates are currently below the average nightly parking rate offered by nearby hotels in downtown Edmonton. We stay here quite often, we love the coziness of the place and the breakfasts at Madison grill. However, our last stay was not impressive. Check in is at 3, our room was not ready. We had to wait in the small lobby with two other couples until 3:20. Not really too big of a deal. The real kicker is that the restaurant was not open. No where did it mention this when we booked the hotel. We were looking forward to our usual Madison grill breakfast which is so good. Instead- we got a “breakfast in a box”, which consisted of an apple, muffin, yogurt, and granola bar. If I would have known this, I would have booked a different hotel.

Unfortunately, recent government mandated closures, in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 have meant that some of our luxury inclusions have been temporarily stopped or modified. While we are maintaining our Complimentary Evening Wine & Cheese Sample, we did make the decision to halt breakfast service out of an abundance of caution. In lieu of the temporary closure of breakfast, we are offering guestroom rates up to 60% lower than would normally be available at this time of year. We have also introduced Take-Away breakfast boxes which help minimize contact while providing a refreshing start to the day. You have my assurance that plans are already underway to resume our Full Complimentary Breakfast Service as soon as we feel the safety and well-being of our guests and associates are no longer at risk. All information related to the services and amenities currently affected by COVID-19 are included on all guestroom confirmations and sent as a private message to every guest who books on Expedia. I apologize for the delay you experienced at check in. Demand for hotels across Alberta was at levels we have not seen since before the pandemic and many guests, celebrating Valentine's Day like you, chose to stay with us. Staff is very friendly and very clean hotel but unfortunately that is all I can say that’s positive. The heating system requires the fan to be on low and my sleep monitor tops out at 78db so not sure exactly how loud it was. When thermostat kicked in it blew hot otherwise it was cold air so alternated between being too cold and too hot all night plus the noise. The king size bed was extremely uncomfortable. There were two regular sized pillows on the bed. No decaf or tea in room and it was like sleeping in a closet. The windows are frosted and look into a 5 story window well. Not what I was expecting at all.

The attentive details were nice and the free welcome platter was great! Parking is outdoors though. There are maybe only 4 very cramped stalls that are covered. So the parking fees is a bit much. The food was delicious. The staff were very kind and helpful. Even though the hotel is downtown the rooms are very quiet. Will definitely return!

My husband and myself always have an amazing time! The union bank is so close to great restaurants! Last night we were at the confederation lounge in The hotel macDonald! The union bank has excellence services. . And the Masson grill is Fabulous! We alway enjoy our stay! ! Very been disappointed! !

This hotel is gorgeous. We stayed in a heritage room and will defn be back. The staff were great, especially the guy who works in the restaurant at breakfast. And they bring you wine and cheese to your room as a welcome! Location is great and you can walk everywhere downtown easily. The indoor parking lot is small but they have outdoor spots available. Breakfast is an actual cooked menu item from the restaurant so even though it might be a bit pricier than some hotels close-by, the breakfast and the uniqueness of the hotel more than makes up for it. 10/10.
