Friendly, homely hotelPosted 21-Mar-2014
I would recommend staying here. The staff at reception are very helpful when it comes to local information. The hotel is very welcoming and quiet - even though there was a wedding reception going on - I did not hear anything. The staff were also very helpful, in that I left my phone charger behind, and they sent it on to me straight away, which was great. All in all I have nothing but praise for this hotel.

Nice hotel close to Dublin and right off highway.Posted 17-Nov-2013
Cons: Bathroom needed updating.
Location: Dublin was very close by.
Breakfast was great every morning. Staff at breakfast were wonderful. Front desk were helpful. Room was perfect size for the three travelers on the trip. Bathroom could use a little work. Manager assured me in response to my comment card that the bathroom was set for an update. The location of the hotel was great. Only 15 minutes from Dublin. Loved the charm of the inn and pub.

Overnight treatPosted 1-Oct-2013
Pros: It's history and old-style comforts.
Location: Unqualified to say.
Just needed somewhere special on the last night of my short break in Ireland, and I was not disappointed by the comforting atmosphere at Lucan Spa Hotel. Staff very welcoming, but dining choices limited by some kind of "do" that night. Quality of meals offered both in the evening and at breakfast seemed quite average, but generous in portion. Despite proximity to a main highway, traffic noise was muffled by efficient double-glazing, and I slept well. Happy to recommend to folks who prefer the traditional-style of Hotel.

Nice short stayPosted 26-Aug-2013
Pros: The majority of the staff are friendly and outgoing
Location: If you have a car everything is close by however if you are a non driver the bus is a long journey
I stayed at the hotel while visiting friends. We arrived very late on the Friday night and even though it was a late hour the welcome was fantastic. The hotel room was comfortable and functional. The breakfast was lovely and the food served in the bistro was more than ample. The only issue I had was that check out was at 12 however my transport to the airport was at 5 and so for 5 hours I had no other option than to lug a suitcase about until my transport appeared.

Out of townPosted 28-Jul-2013
Pros: Appearance - charmingly Victorian
Cons: Distance from town
The hotel was fine - friendly staff etc - it is just further out of town than the website suggests. A reasonable bus service, but still a bit of a nuisance.

Good for the money, but dont expect wonders!Posted 23-Jul-2013
Pros: Value for money
Cons: Slightly outdated approach to guests returning to the hotel at night.
Location: Great placement for getting into Dublin city centre and surrounding areas.
While the hotel was clean enough and well presented, it was a little dated and suffering from wear and tear in some places, but for what I paid for the room it was more than acceptable. Also on a side not the breakfast was nice enough, but the food ordered at other times of the day was slightly sub-par for the price.
Dear Rob, Thanks for your review on Expedia. I'm glad to read you were happy with your stay. Thank you for your kind words on the cleanliness and value of the hotel. I am sorry to read that you found our food to be below expectations. We have recently made a few changes in the kitchen department and we will continually work hard to improve our product for our guests. Kind Regards, Ulick Colgan Marketing Manager The Lucan Spa Hotel.

Quaint and charming!Posted 9-Jun-2013
Pros: The staff were wonderful! The charm and ambiance of the place and comfort/quality of the beds and bedding were definite positives, as well.
Cons: The decor/carpeting in the rooms could use a little attention. The rooms appear a bit dingy/dirty due to age and wear when, honestly, they are not.
Location: Easy to get there from the airport. Dublin city center is a short drive away. Lucan and Leixlip villages and a shopping center are nearby.
The Lucan Spa Hotel has a lot to offer. The onsite eateries are convenient and provide a nice variety of options...the tavern/bar is especially charming and the food there is excellent. Although the room we stayed in was a little dated (it could use a facelift and some sprucing up) and the bathroom was a bit small, everything was clean and the beds were EXTREMELY comfortable. The place has a lot of character and provides a nice, reasonably-priced alternative to more modern, chain-like lodging.
