Nice hotel close to Dublin and right off highway.Posted 17-Nov-2013
Cons: Bathroom needed updating.
Location: Dublin was very close by.
Breakfast was great every morning. Staff at breakfast were wonderful. Front desk were helpful. Room was perfect size for the three travelers on the trip. Bathroom could use a little work. Manager assured me in response to my comment card that the bathroom was set for an update. The location of the hotel was great. Only 15 minutes from Dublin. Loved the charm of the inn and pub.

We had a family dinner in the restaurant, for 16 people of all ages. A nice menu and the food was good and there was plenty of it. we will certainly use The Lucan Spa again

Disgusted with my stay at the Lucan spaPosted 11-Oct-2013 on Hotels.com
Disgusted by the insulting and invasive questioning of the owner and one male staff member while overnighting in this hotel. Would never stay there again. While appearing to be family friendly both my husband and I found the owner arrogant and insulting. My husband hadn't finished his meal, just hadn't a big appetite and while we told him everything was fine when he came round he was sarcastic and slow to believe us. He piled up the plates and then asked me would I like to finish my husbands meal. We were not impressed. Earlier in the day we were quizzed by a bartender as to what we were doing with our children who were with us for a while in the hotel until going to stay with family nearly. This was none of his business. We were checking in at the time and dealing with the receptionist. How dare he butt in and ask us our business. Never had an experience like it. Felt watched and under scrutiny the whole time we were there. Pity, the owner is ruining his own business and obviously some staff members are adopting his approach towards clients.

Overnight treatPosted 1-Oct-2013
Pros: It's history and old-style comforts.
Location: Unqualified to say.
Just needed somewhere special on the last night of my short break in Ireland, and I was not disappointed by the comforting atmosphere at Lucan Spa Hotel. Staff very welcoming, but dining choices limited by some kind of "do" that night. Quality of meals offered both in the evening and at breakfast seemed quite average, but generous in portion. Despite proximity to a main highway, traffic noise was muffled by efficient double-glazing, and I slept well. Happy to recommend to folks who prefer the traditional-style of Hotel.

very good valuePosted 24-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
although its some 12 km from Dublin the hotel is serviced by a regular bus service, for those on foot ,and has ample parking for guests using motor transport. Very value for money if its not important ,that you stay in the city centre

Very poor customer servicesPosted 9-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel we 'okay", clean etc. However, we had to pay 3 Euros each to get a facecloth from a vending machine because they don't provide them. You have to bring your own toiletries as they provide very little in that way. 3 nights we arrived at our room late at night to find our key card did not work so we had to march down a long way to get it reactivated and the staff seem ambivelant about this. There were days when our water glasses did not get changed and when I asked the desk staff if this was normal, they said they didn't know. Again ambivelant. Then the last day the elevator didn't work and we had to lug our bags down 4 sets of long stairs and the desk guy again, very blaise and no apology or assistance. Every night we had to get new passcodes for the Wifi and go through a lenghthly log in process. The carpets in the room were filthy. There was no top sheet on the bed, only a duvet with a duvet cover so when it was hot you couldn't just sleep with a sheet because there wasn't one and there is no air conditioning so it was weird having to sleep with no sheet or cover as the duvet was too hot. The really good thing about the hotel was the daily breakfast which was a "Full Irish" and always hot. I would not stay there again except for that it was close to our desired location.
