Nice hotel close to Dublin and right off highway.Posted 17-Nov-2013
Cons: Bathroom needed updating.
Location: Dublin was very close by.
Breakfast was great every morning. Staff at breakfast were wonderful. Front desk were helpful. Room was perfect size for the three travelers on the trip. Bathroom could use a little work. Manager assured me in response to my comment card that the bathroom was set for an update. The location of the hotel was great. Only 15 minutes from Dublin. Loved the charm of the inn and pub.

Overnight treatPosted 1-Oct-2013
Pros: It's history and old-style comforts.
Location: Unqualified to say.
Just needed somewhere special on the last night of my short break in Ireland, and I was not disappointed by the comforting atmosphere at Lucan Spa Hotel. Staff very welcoming, but dining choices limited by some kind of "do" that night. Quality of meals offered both in the evening and at breakfast seemed quite average, but generous in portion. Despite proximity to a main highway, traffic noise was muffled by efficient double-glazing, and I slept well. Happy to recommend to folks who prefer the traditional-style of Hotel.

Dear Genie, Thank you for your review of the hotel. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your kind words on our staff and comfort. My apologies for the unavailability of the restaurant during your stay. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, it was booked out that night with diners enjoying a local drama group's latest play. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the very near future. Kind Regards, Ulick Colgan, Marketing Manager, The Lucan Spa Hotel.

Nice short stayPosted 26-Aug-2013
Pros: The majority of the staff are friendly and outgoing
Location: If you have a car everything is close by however if you are a non driver the bus is a long journey
I stayed at the hotel while visiting friends. We arrived very late on the Friday night and even though it was a late hour the welcome was fantastic. The hotel room was comfortable and functional. The breakfast was lovely and the food served in the bistro was more than ample. The only issue I had was that check out was at 12 however my transport to the airport was at 5 and so for 5 hours I had no other option than to lug a suitcase about until my transport appeared.

Better than expectedPosted 19-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the hotel. For the money, I expected much less despite the nice pictures on the website. My travel agent found this for me, but our booking fell through. I remembered the name of the hotel and booked it later for myself. It was easy and convenient. When I had questions and needed direction, the staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. They were also very patient as I had many questions. I will return there if I am ever fortunate enough to go to Ireland. It is perfectly positioned out of the city but still very close for a short bus ride.

TerriblePosted 13-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
Booked this hotel for a spa weekend away, but turns out it wasn't a spa hotel, but it says on their title of the hotel! "spa hotel" the rooms were very small! And it was very old hotel! Is beside a motorway! Which every car can see into your window! Not a lot of places around this hotel! Overall worst hotel I've been in!

Dear Pollock, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to read your experience during your stay did not meet the usual high expectations we set ourselves. The name of the hotel originates from the old spa wells that used to exist beside the hotel in the early 20th Century. I am sorry this caused confusion. While the hotel is close to the N4 roadway, I can assure you that no bedroom window is as close to the roadway as to allow drivers to see into your room. Kind Regards, Ulick Colgan, Marketing Manager, The Lucan Spa Hotel.

There's Life in the Old Spa YetPosted 9-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
Teh old girl may by rough around the edges, but what she slacks in pristine vissisitudes, she more than makes up for with old world charm and familial hospitality. Though the Spa may be long since gone, the personality of her vintage features & conscientious personnel are available on tap. She's a long necked swan, growing old gracefully.

Overnight stayPosted 29-Jul-2013 on Hotels.com
We stopped at The Lucan Spa after arriving on the ferry from Holyhead. The staff were friendly and very helpful from the outset. The room was clean and easily accessible. The staff proved themselves as I enquired about the availability of lactose free milk, for my children's breakfast. I was informed that they don't normally carry it but would have it for us in the morning. Went down the next morning and once again the staff had been out and had bought us lactose free milk, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly again. Very happy with our stay.

Out of townPosted 28-Jul-2013
Pros: Appearance - charmingly Victorian
Cons: Distance from town
The hotel was fine - friendly staff etc - it is just further out of town than the website suggests. A reasonable bus service, but still a bit of a nuisance.

Good HotelPosted 24-Jul-2013 on Hotels.com
As this was just an overnight stay whilst travelling further I found the hotel efficient, clean, good food and friendly reception staff. Hotel is not the easiest to find even with a sat nav as the address given was not very clear. The rooms were comfortable but very hot. Overall I would stay here again.
