The swim up bar was nice to have and the hotel could look to update the pool tile area and hotel rooms, as although clean, a bit outdated and a simple more modern update would be great.

El Cozumeleno is a good resort as long as you are not looking for activities on site. There are a few here and there such as painting and bingo. No show's for entertainment. We wanted an inexpensive place to sleep at night with all inclusive. Food is good not exceptional but option to eat off resort the local foods. Great parking if you rent a car. Beautiful beach, great snorkeling right off the beach. We did have an issue with ants in our original room but the hotel staff were very accommodating and our second room was perfect. All rooms look out to the ocean. Staff were great!

This was a wonderful quite non pretentiousness resort. The staff were wonderful and attentive. I was 5 days into my 10 day stay when I broke my foot and couldn't walk. My waiter Danny went above and beyond for me. He was the BEST and made my stay wonderful even hurt like I was.

The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We were there just two days but the place wasn't busy at all - just the way we like it. We were celebrating my birthday and once we checked in, room service brought a nice plate with 4 cake balls on it and a personal message with my name wishing me a happy birthday and to enjoy our stay ! Only downside to our visit was our room didn't have a mini fridge but other than that- we would stay here again!

We absolutely love coming to El Cozumeleno. The staff is amazing. Shout out to Santiago, Paulino, Emanuel, Gabriel, Yannette, Lorena (our housekeeper) and the rest. The hotel is nice. Itā€™s older but sufficient. The beach and ocean at the resort is FANTASTIC. The food is descent. I highly recommend ordering quesadillas on the beach. Thanks again to everyone at the resort who helped make this another perfect stay at our favorite resort on Cozumel.

We had a great time and met some wonderful people! The staff, especially the cleaning staff, were amazing. While the property is a bit worn, our room was spotless as were the amenitiesā€¦.except for the birds! Excellent stay!

This place is a diamond, the staff was very friendly and nice. The place has beautiful beach and great snorkeling. Like I spoke with the manager this place only need more investment in remodeling, things looks very old. I hope they can put some money in an updated plan.

Not what I thought was dirty the birds on top of your food the only restaurant they have you need to make a reservation at 7 am if not you need to go the only buffet they have is when all the birds is on top of you and food

This place is very relaxed. If youā€™re looking for a homey feel and nothing uptight this is the place. My mom and sister enjoyed the pool while the rest of the family was snorkeling. This was our 2nd time staying and we will be going back!

we had a great time but the property is very dated.. The ac did not work well and of course its tropical so it was hot. We we're determined to have a great vacation and we did... The people are so nice and friendly.. the staff really was accommodating. The location was perfect. Hopefully they get the resort back up to perfection.. Thanks Jackie and Robert : )

We stayed here for our honeymoon and the amenities provided were perfect for our extended stay. The staff were all courteous and polite. The facilities and rooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend this resort as an option for staying in Cozumel island. The food provided was good, but I do wish there were more menu options for Mexican foods.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at The el cozumeleno. The pools were great. The beach area was clean and nice. There were lots of fish to snorkel with water was pure and clean rooms were clean. My only complain is the smell of garbage around the pool bar. At times it was rank. But thoroughly enjoyed would stay again

The room was very old and run down. Bathroom shower tiles were dirty. The room needed to be painted and had peeling paint. If you dont go down to beach early in the morning and put a towel on a chair, you will not have one later. Not enough chairs. Food was ok but the steak restaurant required reservation and every night they stated there werenā€™t anymore reservations available.

We loved this resort for the snorkeling, beach and pool areas. There is a lack of entertainment but that was ok with the group I was with. The food was what I always get at AI's. The staff is what was the best here! We had the absolute best service and attention!

We had a really great time at this property. Absolutely beautiful. The staff at the restaurants and bars was top notch. Attentive and personal. However, the rooms are VERY dated. And the front desk personal is not so accommodating. It feels like you are bothering them. And Omar was the WORST!! Arrogant and RUDE!! Overall...we would stay again as the price is right.

This is a 3star hotel. We went into this experience with 3 star expectations. The people are nice enough, some more than others. There are 2 restaurants, both with the same food I believe. The food is not bad but not great; our favorite was the breakfast omelet bar. The outside restaurant with the buffet has birds flying all over. The beach is nice but not for extended lounging; a treacherous walk thru the coral/rocks to get in and snorkel. The faucet in the shower would not turn off at first; then my husband ā€œfeltā€ his way around to find the stop point. The beds are not very comfortable. Overall, my expectations were not high at all (from reading previous reviews), so we had a good time! This being said we will not be visiting this hotel again just because I like a higher standard and donā€™t mind paying for it. I believe this is a good option for a budget vacation with kiddos.

Rooms were poor condition, and low quality of everything in rooms. It all needs updating. And it needs refrigerator/microwave. Front desk staff need more training. Restaurant staff were excellent, Esteban and Leonardo were great. Housekeeping for room 1112, Antonio was amazing.

If you only care about the beach you will be happy. It's an amazing view and the ocean is literally right outside... If you don't mind not having ANY room amenities like a phone, WIFI, coffee maker, more than two towels, or a fridge then you will think this place is great. The room and bathroom are so outdated that you will struggle to feel comfortable, not even the chairs on the balcony are good they have stretched out and your butt will literally touch the ground. The bathroom is horrible I would not go in the shower without footwear Food!!! No Bueno! It is really difficult. There is 1 buffet serving the same food every day lending more towards Mexican cuisine but the food is not fresh unless you get there right when they set it out. It can sit there all day... They have a snack area with burgers and hotdogs but again if you are not there when they put it out first I have no doubt you could get sick. I have so much to say but this trip has totally exhausted me just trying to find things to eat. I have lived on fruit and I bought peanut butter at a local store. Oh... room service... we asked how to order because I was throwing up for 24 hours, finally found out you have to call the hotel # to be transferred to room service and they will either not answer or hang up. They only have at the most two people at the front desk so you could be in line to check in for more than a hour... No matter how much I've tried to push my judgements aside. I can't recommend this place.

Needs serious update!! Weā€™d turn the sink faucet on and the whole spout would turn and water would go all over the counter. Holes where the shower knobs came out from the wall. Service was excellent. Food was nothing to call home about. Steak in the restaurant was good but have to go down early.. no phone in the room to call front deskā€¦ to make a reservation. Luckily someone in our group is an early bird and made reservations for the one night we ate in the restaurant.Do not plan to return.

The room that I played in advance was for the garden view, but we got given a 6-floor room with no view. The desk cluck said that the only room available was on the 6th floor. To get to the room you take the elevator to the 5th floor and then walk one flit of stair to the 6th floor, because the elevator only goose to the 5th floor. When I mentioned it to the head concierge and shoed hem the Expedia reservation, he moved us to the 4th floor, because all of the garden rooms were talked. The concierge said they had Dubble booked hopping that one of the gests would not show up. and the room would not be available for 2 days. The 4th floor room had no hot water and the AC was leaking water. the water view was the top of the tike huts. never did get our garden view room. and did not get refunded for the differed in room charges.

This resort was what we expected for the most part, and exceeded expectations on many levels. Realistically, it's a 3-3.5 star resort with many 4 star features. The staff are just delightful and Cozumel is a wonderful place to visit. Some of the reviews I've read are from folks who expect 5 star at a 3 star price: and prefer to complain rather than pay for what they want... If you treat the staff here well, they will return the favor in spades. If you don't, you'll get what you deserve... Yes, the property needs some updates and the pandemic made financing all that more difficult. They are slowly making improvements. The beach area is very nice and the pools are too. They could benefit from one or two more restaurant options, but the dinner reservation venue is excellent and well worth standing in line to reserve. All in all, we had a very enjoyable week at El Cozomeleno and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bargain vacation in Cozumel.
