Great location .. bathroom lighting .. 👎
A great location for walking around La Rochelle and the added bonus of on-site parking. Our booking was for a Superior Room, however I felt that the room was on the small size and the bathroom lighting was far from superior as were the towels .. very thin and one had a hole. New towels need to be on top of the “to do” list. Breakfast was excellent and the welcome cocktail was appreciated.

Lovely boutique style hotel perfectly positioned to explore La Rochelle on foot. Staff very helpful. Nice breakfast. Gym small and lacking equipment but if that’s not an issue for you, no problem. Great other than that.

Beautiful hotel and ideally located. Very comfortable rooms with a modern finish. Checkin whilst efficient was much later than advertised but the upgraded room was kind.
The square by the hotel. Great food options, if a little expensive.

Room was lovely and clean and had air conditioning. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with lots of different foods to choose from Staff was very friendly and helpful and made us feel most welcome. We hope to go back next year

Cannot recommend it more highly - loved it.
The hotel is really at the centre of everything, but down a quiet side street. Our room was very comfortable with nice quiet A/C. The breakfast buffet had everything you could possibly want and more. The tables were cleared, cleaned and re laid quickly. All of the staff were very helpful.

Very nice centrally located hotel in the old town. We enjoyed our stay - some minor points for improvement and/or to help other guests.....the on-site car parking is VERY expensive at 13 euros per night (we had an expensive room too, so the overall stay was much more than we would have liked). We had a nice room with a balcony, but if you want a quiet stay, please note this is right next to a noisy elementary school with children screaming in the playground from 8am and often throughout the day (if you want to return to the hotel for a rest during the day, it is incredibly noisy in these rooms with balcony at the back of the hotel). So best to ask for a quiet room at the front if you want a quiet stay. We were two people and just ONE small bottle of water left for us for the entire two night stay. We were able to ask for more, but were told ONE bottle is the norm (which we thought was a little stingy for the high price of the room we had). Also one final point, the pillows were very flat and not comfortable for us, so we wanted to use the extra pillows provided in the wardrobe, however, these were not supplied with any covers, so we declined to use them for hygiene reasons. But overall a very nice stay with very nice staff. We loved the location just a couple of minutes walk from the port and many restaurants to choose from.

Some guests don't like to be on the street side, others do. Some guests like the tranquility of the courtyard rooms, others don't. For a future stay, do not hesitate to contact us to choose the best room for your stay. Parkings are rare in La Rochelle, especially for Hotels situated in the city center so we are lucky to be able to offer these parking spaces. Furthermore, our rate of 13€00 per night is less expensive than the public parkings of La Rochelle which cost 17€00 for 24h. The Reception is open 24H/24, we are always present to answer your requests. We could have given you other pillow and pillowcases during your stay. We take note of your remarks and we will share it with our team. Hoping to welcome you again !

Mixed feelings!
La Rochelle is a great place and the Hotel Saint Nicolas is excellently located near the old port. The spaces in the underground parking lot were rather small, as was our room! It overlooked a small square with lots of restaurants, which were noisy into the small hours! We therefore had to keep the window closed - but, because it was early October, the air conditioning had been switched to the winter setting (heating only). One other little niggle - the toilet was set so close to a wall on one side (the gap was barely 100mm) that it was -er- uncomfortable to use!

Very well located, one minute away from the old port action and vibrant life; yet, recessed and calm. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Onsite parking paid for 13 euros/night. Breakfast was very good. My room did not have a bath but a spacious bathroom and shower. The mattress and bedding could have been better. Definitely a place I recemmend.

good location but that’s about it.
Very dark room, photos don’t reflect room we had. The outside phographed very cleverly to make it look nicer than it is. The location is very good. This is the 4th hotel I have stayed in post COVID and the worst - no cleaning unless ask for the day before, no clean towels or replenish beverages. They even asked us to strip the bed after no one had been in the room not even to empty a bin for 3 days- just trying to save staff hours. It wasn’t cheap very disappointing.

This was a lovely hotel in a lovely city. Out of season, so not expecting too much, but the staff are very helpful, the location is perfect and the building itself is delightful. I would happily use it again if I ever come back to La Rochelle.

My wife and I love this hotel. It is ideally placed and the area can be a little noisy in the street late at night over the weekend but we're on holiday.... The staff are very helpful and friendly. Our bedroom was quite small but otherwise perfect, the breakfast is good. Limited car parking places but the bays are a reasonable size and the car is safely tucked away for the duration of the visit as everything you need is on the doorstep.

Lovely hotel in fantastic location
Lovely small hotel in a quiet are but within only a few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and the old town location could not be better. There is also a secure private car park which is payable but essential, as parking in the city centre is difficult. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet at an additional cost but there are also several little cafes around the corner where you can get a very reasonable continental breakfast. The room was very comfortable and had excellent air conditioning that we were most grateful for, as the temperature was very hot. Would definitely recommend!

Very nice and comfortable
The hotel is very nice. The location is close to town center & the market but not in a very busy and noisy area which make it’s very calm. The room is really nice better than some of the 4 stars we have been staying. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Comfortable hotel
The room was clean and comfortable on the top floor. Screen on bath needed to be bigger. Water flooded the floor after showering. Could hear neighbours talking but wasn’t too much of an issue. The hotel is in a good position for harbour and restaurants and has a car park on site.

Great Location
We were there for my birthday. The hotel is a good standard 3* hotel. Nothing flash about the room but had comfortable beds and bathroom had a small bath and shower... location for The Marina, restaurants, shops etc was brilliant and it’s the location that would make me book this hotel again.

This Upscale hotel with clean and fresh facility had an extensive breakfast, competent staff and was not over priced.

Excellent boutique hotel in the centre of town.
Very comfortable, really nice hotel in the centre of La Rochelle. Step outside the door and you have everything that this wonderful town has to offer. Excellent room, clean, well maintained and large. We will return. Special note of thanks to Damian who rescued the parking problem. Hotels.com don't tell you that the parking has to be booked separately and we were very concerned to leave our car elsewhere. The hotel is extremely difficult to find by car as the one way and restricted roads are a nightmare. Start on Quai Louis Durand, turn into Rue Saint-Claude and follow the very small signs! If you have a car with low ground clearance, be very careful when entering and exiting the car park!!!
