dont bother until renovation is done
we called called it the bates hotel on the beach...and our room was the redroom from the shining... mold in bathrrom...ac didnt work...way overpriced....they are removating...so get a new room...ole rooms have a key that is not safe so lock your stuff in the safe..breakfast buffet and bar is good...dinner we avoided...good location to visit the ruins...door to room is a deathtrap in casenof fire....

In need of TLC
Very run down compared to last stay here 12years ago, a shame was a nice hotel but needs a lot spent on it, only thing going for it is it’s on a beach.

Excellent venue for sun, sea and archaeological sites. Walk out directly on a very clean sandy beach. Convenient underground parking. Rooms were comfortable, functional, if a little sterile. Beautiful restaurant, draped in bougainvillea. Fixed price daily lunch and dinner menu, which was reasonably priced, but quite bland and rather rushed. Clientele is mostly elderly German and that may explain the menu choice. Seafood is from a frozen source [where?] and not fresh, which is a disappointment for southern Italy. I spent three nights at the hotel and will stay there again, but may skip the restaurant.

The best about this hotel it is a seafront location. The best rooms are rooms with balconies facing the sea. We could not figure out how AC works. Also, it is very strict 11 am check out time and you can't have the beach umbrella and chair on your check out day, keep this in mind. it is a very nice beach and swimming experience. Overall we had a good stay.

Hotel needs updating, really nice beach.
The beach is beautiful. The lounge area is good. The dining area is nice. The rooms and the carpet is disgusting. It is in great need of updating. There was a very bad smell in the carpet that we could not get rid of.

Nice hotel with private access to the beach
Rooms are a little dated but the hotel is comfortable. Ideal for long walk along the beach or if you prefer to laze around the beach.

In Offseason
We had a nice stay but they were not well stocked in the bar and the drain in our shower did not work. Also the place seemed a little disheveled during the off-season. We were one of only three rooms in use at the moment so definitely minimal usage going on at the moment. The staff were great though and Bruno helped us with some drinks when we came back from dinner. Overall I would come again but during the regular season for sure. The beach is the main selling point here.

Staff was very friendly and accomodating. This place doesn't look like the big 5-star places but is just as nice (nicer if it had a pool too but the beach was clean and water clear. Very comfortable. Clean.

Great seaside location
As two of only four guests in the off-season (January), my wife and I were extremely happy with our choice of the Schumann. Rooms were large and comfortable with space heaters provided for the winter guests. Balcony side rooms offer a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. It sits directly on the beach with easy access to the water. Great staff and terrific service.

Only Hotel Right on the Beach near Peastum
We have been to this hotel at least five times. It is right on a very nice, sandy beach near the Greek ruins at Paestum. We always get the half-board as there are not many restaurants nearby and the food has always been of a good standard with a decent wine list. The rooms overlooking the beach are very nice as there are balconies and you can leave the balcony doors open all night and sleep to the sound of the surf. The staff are very nice and helpful and there is undercover parking available free. Also free wifi in every room.

ideal location for Tyrrhean Sea and Paestum
Really nice spot right onto the beach. We had lovely sea views. We were obviously there in low season so dinner was fixed menu but really nice, breakfast much better than standard Italian. Staff very welcoming. German seemed to be the alternative to Italian language. Little or no English spoken. We visited to include tour of Paestum which is a couple of km inland - we were offered bikes, which was helpful. Underground garage parking to keep the car cool! Marked down because out of season surrounding beach areas unkempt and unappetising. In summer it will probably be very busy.

Wonderful Location for Paestum & Beach
This Hotel was very nice in all ways except the carpet throughout needs to be replaced. It is very clean and staff is extremely friendly. The outside is kept very well, from the gardens to the immaculate beach but inside the carpeting, although vacumed it is matted, faded and old. We would probably go back because of the lovely people and magnificent beach view and incredible location to Paestum.

Good hotel if you want to spend your day at the beach. Unfortunately the room is very old and the service provided is from the 60s! They dont let you choose the sunbeads or the table to eat even if they are empty.. Good experience overall but don’t expect much of this hotel than the beach

Ci ero stato già 5 anni fa. L'ho ritrovata in eccellenti condizioni, molto curata in tutti i particolari, ambiente e clima molto tranquillo. La struttura è un pò datata ma è perfettamemte funzionale. Il punto di forza è la posizione sul mare e la spiaggia privata. Ci ritornerò sicuramente nei prossimi anni.

Fascino vintage a tre metri dal mare
Nella caotica piana di Paestum l'hotel Schuhmann è un'oasi di pace e relax per chi ama contemplare il mare. Tutta la struttura è decisamente retro', ma ben tenuta e spaziosa. Il personale è gentile e disponibile. L'accesso diretto dalla hall al mare è impagabile e la spiaggia privata è una grande risorsa. Unica pecca: il ristorante. La colazione è in linea con gli standard degli anni '60. Pranzo e cena da dimenticare. Nel complesso esperienza positiva, a patto che non si faccia nemmeno la mezza pensione.

L'albergo non e' vicino al mare,ma dentro al mare.
Ottimo,su tutto. Lo consiglio per chi volesse riposarsi,degustando i piatti del menu' quotidiano, a prescindere dal pranzo o dalla cena. La colazione mattutina e' pantagruelica.

Albergo vecchio stile ma bello per questo. Camere molto grandi che negli alberghi moderni non si vedono più. Camera confortevole con balcone sul mare. A disposizione lettini e accesso diretto alla spiaggia. Staff molto cordiale e disponibile. Abbiamo pranzato in hotel e tutto era molto buono e fresco. Unica pecca la colazione limitata e ppca scelta non proprio da 4 stelle. Proprietario burbero che urlava facendosi sentire da tutti. Nel complesso ci tornerei e lo consiglierei per la posizione, le camere comode e lo staff disponibile e gentile (proprietario a parte).

Hotel posizionato sulla spiaggia,ben attrezzata,camera confortevole e cibo ottimo. Dalla prenotazione risultava check in dalle 14 ma arrivati lì ci hanno detto che avevamo perso il pranzo,abbiamo potuto farlo il giorno dopo con un contributo di 10 euro. Personale un po freddo e distante,per niente cordiale. Nel complesso soggiorno tranquillo.

Albergo gradevole direttamente sul mare
L'albergo è bello e anche se un pò stile classico e in via di ammodernamento. Il personale è professionale e cordiale. La camera è grande, con un bagno molto grande e servizio impeccabile. Il wifi funziona benissimo in tutto l'albergo. La colazione è sufficiente anche se migliorabile (ma è questione di gusti personali). C'è una bella spiaggia appena si scemde dall'albergo. C'è anche un bel giardino intorno alla struttura.

Splendido svegliarsi con la vista del mare. Personale molto gentile e professionale. Il giardino ben tenuto si affaccia sulla spiaggia. Camere accoglienti e spaziose. Armadi capienti.

Ruhige erholsame Badeferien
Ruhige erholsame Ferien an einem sehr schönen Strand. Auto unbedingt empfehlenswert. Das Hotel hat sehr viele ältere Stammgäste. Älteres Hotel mit typisch italienischem Flair. Wir kommen gerne wieder, aber dann mit einem Auto.

Struttura in posizione bellissima, spiaggia stupenda ma hotel vecchio con camere che necessitano di ristrutturazione, forse un piano è stato già parzialmente ristrutturato ma non il secondo. Molte perdite d'acqua dai soffitti. Consiglio strutture decisamente migliori a pochissima distanza.

Hulpvaardig personeel (spreken beetje engels en aardig duits). Geen geluidhinder van andere gasten of verkeer op kamer. Voor alle gasten parasols en ligbedden beschikbaar. Zeezicht vanaf helft van de kamers. Ontbijtzaal met zicht op zee. Hotelfietsen aanwezig (vijf stuks). Wij grepen nooit mis. Opgravingen en station op 20 minuten fietsen. Supermarkt en restaurantjes op 10 minuten fietsen.
