“An excellent hotel at an affordable price”
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, especially the facilities making fresh orange juice. Places of interest and restaurants were withing walking distance and we did not take a taxi.
“Would recommend and use again”
Fantastic hotel well hidden - not far from the centre of Bologna and it's railway station. Mini bar available reasonable prices. Breakfast was basic and I think let the hotel down - was just adequate. Lady receptionist was extremely pleasant and welcoming - most defineately use this hotel again.
“A great hotel in town”
The hotel is few blocks from the train station. The breakfast is good and rooms just perfect. Very clean. I had the chance to meet the owner of the hotel who was attending passengers. He was very kind. I suggest this hotel because it has a good rate quality/price.
“handy for the station”
Easy walking distance from the station & not too far to walk into the centre of town
“Great Hotel Considering Price and Stars”
OK, I gave the above ratings considering the fact that the hotel is a THREE STAR hotel. I wouldn't go into the place expecting four or five star amenities, because that's not what it is. For a three star hotel, the place exceeded expectations. It was pretty cheap, free internet (though the internet was a bit spotty), free breakfast (croissants, bread, salami, cheese, jams, nutella, plain yogurt, milk, orange juice, oatmeal, and you can order a cappuccino or espresso from the bar absolutely free), pretty comfortable bed. The staff was absolutely cordial, able to answer any question that I had, and gave me an extra pillow and towel upon request. It is a 7 minute walk to the train station, a 7 minute walk to MAMbo (Modern Art Museum - Bologna) and 20 - 30 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore (the main square in Bologna). If I had to say anything negative, it's that you had to mess with the shower a bit to get a temperature that wasn't freezing or scalding. I was very pleased with the hotel considering the price and the stars it has.
“I'd Go Back Again”
I stayed here on two separate occassions and was pleased both times. The staff is extremely helpful and available 24/7. Drinks in their small bar are reasonably inexpensive and there is a small sitting area in the garden where they can be leisurely enjoyed. The hotel is convenient to the bus and train station and can easily be walked to. I did think the bed was a little on the hard side as were the pillows but I also think that's typical European. I've encountered the same thing in many different hotels. A good place for the price.
“We would stay again!”
We enjoyed Bologna, and the Hotel Astoria. I think we had one of the best rooms: large, quiet, clean and comfortable. It had an en-suite shower, large bed, tv, a safe and a shady balcony. Breakfast was excellent; much better than the usual Italian Hotel breakfast. Occasionally things were not perfect, and we had to ask the staff if anything could be done. The staff were friendly and helpful. We thought the Astoria was very good value, and will book in again if we return to Bologna.
“Not really an apartment, but convenient to things”
The charmless "apartment," exterior to the hotel, in a once-elegant, now hardscrabble neighborhood, lacked a proper sitting/day area. But convenient on foot to all major sights in the center. OK to stay if you receive a substantial discount.

“don't book appartment for short stay”
I made the mistake of booking the appartment room offer - it was the cheapest and I was staying only one night. I did not realise that this was indeed an appartment in a block owned by the hotel but not a part of the hotel building. Indeed it was several streets away. You picked up the key and registered with the hotel but then were completely on your own. The appartment itself was very clean and if you are staying for more than a week and want cooking facilities this is for you. But it was not for the short stay traveller or anyone who does not know Bologna, speak Italian etc. I arrived at midnight and had to find my way in in the dark. There is no porter at the appartment block. No phone in the appartment and no means of contacting the hotel reception or, for example, calling a taxi. No telephone directory even. I found the hotel staff off-hand and surly (I speak fluent Italian). Maybe it is better actually in the hotel. So cannot really recommend it on my experience.
