The hotel is a nice facility but no air conditioning. And the amenities in the hotel are minimal For the day is a perfect location for sightseeing but in the night there are minimal places to eat or hangout

A touch of luxury and old world charm in the heart of La Candelaria. We love the attention to details in our room. Only a couple of the staff speak fluent English but we appreciate the warmth & friendliness of the rest. The concierge (I forgot his name) packed us breakfast for an early check out & flight on Dec. 25. Thank you so much!!

Old town location
Good location in the old town. Lots of restaurants nearby. Close to the hold museum. Small hotel, with a buffet style breakfast. Has a restaurant which we did not use.

You can't find a better location than this hotel. Museums historical places restaurants averting near tge hotel. The only complaint is that the hotel is noisy.

Originally from Bogotá, never been to La Candelaria! Loved this hotel! The view was amazing! We actually extended our stay! Only negative was the service at the breakfast! Menu at the restaurant is small and limited! Overall loved this property! A must in Bogotá!

El Hotel de la Opera es un lugar colonial, muy lindo. Est muy bien cuidado y han realizado adecuaciones para preservar el lugar, que han quedado muy bien. En cuanto al servicio y atención, solo tengo agradecimiento, realmente son excepcionales y hacen muy bien su trabajo. Las habitaciones están muy bien equipadas, sin muy acogedoras y aseadas. Logramos descansar y pasar muy buena noche. Sin interrupciones y sin rudos oncomodos. Los alimentos estaban frescos y muy ricos. Realmente los disfrutamos mucho. Asi como los detalles que fueron cortesía. Llegar al lugar es muy sencillo, ya sea uno decida llegar caminando o en vehículo. La zona es muy segura y tiene vigilancia y circuito cerrado de televisión. Tiene el spa como valor agregado que siempre disfrutamos, con sus zonas húmedas disponibles para relajarse. Realmente una muy buena relación entre costo y los beneficios. Volvería nuevamente y me hopedaría en una habitación con mejor vista para disfrutar de la hermosa vista de la Candelaria desde un bello balcón del Hotel de la Opera. Muchas gracias

Okay hotel
Hotel is in good condition. Location is central to visit historic zone, but everything shuts down at night. Beds and pillows are as hard as a rock. Breakfast is poor quality and staff are not attentive to patrons or refilling breakfast items. Our toilet clogged, I called twice and no one came. My sister’ room bathtub also clogged. Staff was not friendly at all. Would not recommend.

Very nice staff. My room had only an internal widow which opened onto a public area so could not be opened. Thus it was very dark which was not very pleasant over 6 days. My safe did not work and was not fixed over the week I was there.

We stayed in a surprisingly spacious corner suite, room 709. The staff were PHENOMENAL!!! They assisted with every facet of our trip from helping us find a driver in Bogota, to making calls on our behalf to secure tours in Cartagena. The breakfast fare was decent and my boyfriend and I took full advantage of the in house spa, utilizing the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi EVERYDAY!!! This hotel is centrally located, the main square and Botero Museum are just steps away. We ate at a very cute and quaint restaurant called Los Son Grillos SEVERAL times. Maria is the BEST at this establishment.

I had a wonderful facial in the spa. It is a protected street, so completely safe, and within walking distance of unique restaurants, museums, architecture, history. The concierge contacted me as soon as I'd booked, and was our cheerful partner throughout the stay.

This is a great hotel in La Candelaria, with lots of good restaurants nearby. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The property is well looked after and the layout makes it more interesting than others of a similar vintage.

Check in is 3pm. Don’t arrive early unless you pay
Our flight was changed so we arrived around 10;30. We had previously asked for an early check in and was told it was 50% of the full rate which we thought excessive. When we arrived we left our luggage and went walking. We came back around 12:30 and still not able to check in. We stayed in the lounge area and we saw someone take towels to the room at 1:45. Asked again to check in at 2pm and still refused. We had to wait until 3pm. As a regular traveler, we have stayed in many hotel and never known such inflexibility. If we had know then we would have cancelled the booking and gone else where. Their inflexibility is not necessary so be warned! Apart from this he room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast is very basic.

This hotel is located in the heart of Bogota's La Candelaria and has all the amenities of a world-class hotel, including restaurant, bar, and spacious rooms. I'd recommend trying to get a room not on the ground floor, though, as it can get a bit noisy from either the street or from the restaurant or bar.

Staff were very helpful. Guillermo, one of the bellman assisted me so well with a very professional manner. The reception desk staff were very polite. Breakfast was delightful with the variety of traditional Colombian dishes. Uber is a must used transportation especially after the shops closed at 9pm. The area gets lonely and a bit dangerous to explore.

Decent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a spacious room for a fairly reasonable rate. The complementary breakfast buffet was nice and everything seemed fresh. The amenities were a bit confusing, pool hours were limited, and the restaurant didn't seem to be open during the posted times. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Horrible service, to the point that I have never been treated like that anywhere in the world at a hotel. Even though I had previously paid a deposit through hotels.com they said I did not. Even though I showed them proof they still insisted I pay them, to the point they locked us out of our room. After we left the hotel they still charged us the deposit. Also, during the check out they sent the bellman to check our room to make sure we didn’t take more than water.

Very bad stay. Cannot recommend.
Overall the stay was very disappointing. We were placed in a room under the restaurant so we were woken up at 7 AM each morning by the screeches of moving chairs above us (I’m a heavy sleeper, but they were very loud). We could also hear chairs moving at night… that room should NOT be used for guests. On our last day, the restaurant above made some seafood (presumably paella) which made the whole floor smell of seafood - I like the smell of paella, but thats not something I want to smell all day. The showers water was cold even when the hot water was at max and the cold water was off. Water pressure was non-existent. Not what you’d expect from a “4 star” hotel. The spa was the highlight, as there was a wet and dry sauna. We also did a couples massage which was good, but one of the masseuses was sick (nasty cough during the whole hour)… not long after my girlfriend and I got sick. Yikes. Onto the positives: the breakfast food was varied each day and decent. The location is also near some must see museums (eg Botero and Oro), shops, and of course Bolivar plaza.

With a picturesque architecture, location is the biggest asset of the hotel. It is literally less than 4 minutes away from Plaza Bolivar. The hotel staff is friendly but unfortunately just like in the rest of the city almost no one speaks English or another language and the cable TV is all Spanish language.

Great Location!
It was great with the exception of a conference that was going on and it was very noisy with the conferee’s setting up late at night for the following day.

The property was centrally located to Bogota’s historic district. The breakfast was robust. We had a sauna and couples massage which put us directly in vacation mode. Car service was available, dependable and timely to the airport. Staff were friendly and professional.

Nice old property. We got great massages and hung out in the spa area after. The room was nice and spacious. The only downside was the bedding. The comforter felt cheap and old. Would’ve liked to have a clean blanket to use instead. Loved the area and how easy it was to walk around to sightsee.

Best staff ever. Great stay
Absolutely incredible. The hotel itself is nice, clean, and comfortable. The staff are nothing short of spectacular. Any time I had a question they were there to help me. I had to stay an extra night last minute and they accommodated me no problem. They arranged a COVID test for my return flight. I left my computer in the room and they held it for me at reception until I was able to come get it. Can’t recommend them enough.
