The hotel/chateau is impressive, standing within extensive grounds on the top of a hill, complete with round turrets and fortifications. Inside, the owners have done their best to match tasteful restoration with modern amenities. Some may not appreciate the 19th Century furnishings, the odd draught of cold air and creaking boards, but the old world charm of the building, the wide corridors, extensive views of empty countryside from every window and total quiet are its undeniable attractions.
Breakfast, the only meal we took, was excellent and the service prompt and courteous.
