Staff was great. When I booked it said there was a nice restaurant but that doesn’t exist. It’s still a great view and check in was great they had everything ready to go when we got there. The room was clean but someone left the heater on so it was 95 degrees when we got there. All in all I would still come back
The parking lot is really tight until you get used to it. The steps, shower, hot tub, and the grounds lack an awareness for mildly handicapped guests; a few more hand-holds would be a good improvement.
That said, this place is a major step up over most of the places that I've stayed in the last year; and I tend to stay in the best available places.
If this is how the place is always run you can't go wrong.

Rooms were dated but nice, it is pet friendly so some rooms had a slight animal odor. We were upgraded from 1 room to another due to the fireplace not working. Was fine because the original room also had an odor. Staff was nice, helpful and accommodating. Restaurant was nice, friendly staff, and great food. Would stay again. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so views were limited but that's just bad luck.
The room was awesome. The big jetted tub was just what we needed on a snowy winter evening. I used Expedia to book it and wish I would have booked directly. I would have got a better deal. Still the hotel is excellent.

beautiful grounds. staff was very friendly. room was very comfortable. Only problems we had were that the fireplace (electric) was not working. It would have put out some heat, but was mainly aesthetic. So it was no big deal as there was another source of heating. And for some odd reason we could not get the TV to turn off. We finally had to unplug it. The remote worked as we could change the channels and volume control worked. It just wouldn't turn off. Other than that - I would definitely recommend this hotel. The attached restaurant, Riley's, was pretty awesome. We had a huge family gathering that basically took up the whole restaurant. They did a fantastic job of serving us and the food was good.

We love this place. Great location for exploring Woods Bay and Bigfork. The 24hr outdoor hot tub and the jacuzzi tub in the room (not all rooms) are the best! Room did seem to need a little help. The fireplace was not working unfortunately and the heating was either too hot or too cold. But we will be back.

We stayed 4 days and 3 nights and learned on the 3rd day that housekeeping doesn't service the room except every 3 days. So I guess they serviced it the DAY WE CHECKED OUT? We were out of kleenex, almost out of TP, had to go to the front desk and ask for more soap and bath towels and we had to empty our own trash. Not very impressed due to the lack of service.

The hotel is an aging beauty. It’s a great venue, has an amazing location and extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Riley’s restaurant is great! However, the hotel is showing its age and sorely needs redecorating and refurbishing. Wallpaper is peeling. Furniture is a little beat up (the bed was new and great!), and cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. The couch pillows were disgusting! The gas fireplace didn’t work. There were cobwebs behind the furniture.
This “aging beauty” is a wonderful place and with some updating, care and attention could still be brought back to excellence! Until then I’ll have to stay elsewhere. I may return to enjoy the restaurant however.
Mountain Lake Lodge is situated with views of Woods Bay and beyond from every unit.

A few steps and it would be better
No room servicing so out of coffee, shampoo and soap. Helpful front desk resolved the problem, but why? TV didn't work correctly.

* Slight sewage smell to water
* TV (Spectrum) resets every 20 mins on both tvs and takes 10 minutes to start back up
* Bed very uncomfortable and hard
* Floors dirty
* Shower floor very slippery
* Cobb webs all over rooms
* Very outdated
* Sliding door doesn’t lock or is very tricky
* No secondary curtains behind blackout curtains so had to keep them drawn at all times

Enjoyed outdoor hot tub, in room jetted spa, fireplace, comfortable bed. Beautiful grounds and area, view of the lake, and on and on. Will definitely come back and will recommend to all.
